  1. The problem is that there hasn't been any refineries built in 30 years. That is the main concern.

An oil man told me that they more than enough crude they can't refine it fast enough.

So the good old oil companies don't make enough to pay for new refineries??

What have they been doing for the last 30 yrs??

Good lord has anyone else but me driven in Wyoming?? I thought there was wide

open spaces in ND!! What better place to build a couple new shiny refineries!!

We can put a Walmart any where in the world but we can't build a da** refinery?

There is something really wrong here. Maybe the folks in Bentonville should

be running the oil companies. :D

Goon, sorry I vented on your thread. :D

  2. Again from the DOE website,

Can consumers reduce the revenues flowing to a certain country or countries by boycotting companies that have a history of importing from those countries?

Due to the global nature of the oil market, boycotts by individual consumers or even individual countries cannot reduce the oil revenues of a given oil producing country/countries. At best, consumer boycotts of a company known to import crude oil would result in a temporary reduction in the market share of that particular company. Because the overall consumer demand for products made from oil (like gasoline and diesel fuel) would be unchanged, the oil would simply be purchased by some other company.

Similar market shifts would occur if an entire country or countries refused to buy oil from a certain country/region, or were legally prevented from doing so. The boycotting countries would take additional imports from different countries, and those countries would purchase additional supplies from the boycotted country/region. Due to the nature of the world oil market, it is impossible to impact the oil revenues flowing to a given country or region with anything short of a sanctions regime, wherein all countries pledge to avoid buying from a particular country.

In a nutshell we created a genie we can't put back in a bottle. :D

  3. You are trying very hard to confuse yourself, and the facts. It's OK, when the Indian tribes and their leaders say it OK, and tell the NCAA uniformly that it OK. Your opinion, my opinion and voting does not matter.

There is uniform support by the Seminole Indian tribes in Florida for FSU to use the nickname (The Okla tribe is a non-Issue for FSU in the state of FL). There is not uniform support by the Sioux tribes in ND to use the nickname. If there was uniform support in ND, there would not be an issue in ND either. Those are the facts.

Oh I see, a Seminole is not a Seminole if they are not from the state of Fla.

Herd do you work for a branch of the NCAA?:glare:

Sioux-cia, Great post!!! I love this part the best.

"we believe that ignoring the opinions of those tribes who own those names would be tyranny of the majority and an even greater injustice.

    ."

Again all we ask is a vote of the majority of NA's on the reservations if they object we no longer use

the Great Warriors of the Plains name again.

    Seems pretty simple IMHO.

  4. Think you don't like that?

Imagine the horrors of being of German ancestry and hearing the Idaho Vandals moniker. Those are my fellow Germanic tribesmen and no one asked me for permission.

I'm nearly as mad as those folks in South Bend, IN, ... you know, the Fightin' Irish. :D

Wait a minute, I thought if one person objects to a certain word, nickname or phrase everyone should stop using the word, nickname or phrase. :glare:

  5. BTW, one more thing: If all that UND fans have to smack at NDSU's football attendance is "Ha-Ha!! You guys only average about twice as much as us per game, but you should be averaging three times as much as us!! Naa-naa-na-boo-boo!!!", then I guess the situation at UND's football program is worse than I thought.

If you want to make fun of our men's basketball team for ONLY averaging 80 percent more per game than your men's team, please be my guest.

Kind of a slow day over on the Bison boards?? :D

I wonder what the ratio is of Sioux posters on a SU sports board are compared to Bison posters on a Sioux board.

Oh right, NDSU posters could careless about UND sports.. :glare:

  6. People in the United States are only oppressed if they truly allow themselves to be. Hate your job? Get a new one. No jobs you like? Get an education and get a better one! See a problem? FIX IT to the best your abilities! Take responsibility for yourself including your successes and failures! If you get fired, it's probably something you did or did not do. If not, then get an explanation!

This speaks volumes. And it's a formula that works!!!

  7. Don't cha need 6 teams for an auto bid?

One has to wonder if some of the teams would leave the Pioneer League??

The landscape seems to be changing and UND hasn't even played a game as a FCS

    member.

The MAAC is changing and the Pioneer League doesn't look stable from a stand point IMHO,

on the "needs based" approach in which the Pioneer League and Ivy League try to float.

The Pioneer League seems to be branching out. IMHO ,pretty far stretch on having Marist play San Diego

in the same league even if you play every other year.

  8. Sorry  Here is what I gleaned,

"Coastal Carolina athletics director Warren ``Moose'' Koegel said Friday that the NCAA approved the selection committee's proposal to expand the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs from 16 to 20 teams beginning in 2010.

Koegel is part of the selection committee and said the number of 20 teams is a compromise from the committee's original desire to expand to 24 teams.

Big South commissioner Kyle Kallander said the Big South will get an automatic bid as part of the expansion.

Under the expansion the first round will include four games with 12 teams earning byes. See Saturday's edition of The Sun News for more details."

Not sure why I can't link this article. Maybe star2city will help me out on this.

  9. Stop making the average fan that goes to one of the end bars feel like they are inferior. Gees they watch you like a hawk like you're going to sneak into the other "restricted" area. I mean come on. I promise I'll just go back to my seat once you give me a drink.

They could lighten up a little. I have seen what you mean.

  10. Mcfeely is just trying to get everyone riled up and knows this is an easy way to hit a nerve with hot-heads from both sides. The fact of the matter is there isn't one player on either NDSU or UND's roster that has participated in a game between the two schools. So to alumni and fans maybe it will take more than 5-10 years of not playing each other for another school to be considered a "true" rival.

But, I can guarantee you that if you were to ask an NDSU athlete who thier rival is, they would come back with SDSU 99% of the time. We have had some great games with them and it has picked up a great deal since this move up. Call it manufactured, call it convoluted, call it whatever you want in the stands or on a message board, but to athletes from NDSU and SDSU it's the real deal.

But yet we have so many SU/Bison posters who claim they could careless about UND post so much on a UND/Fighting Sioux/Grand Forks board??

I'm not a poster on any SU/Bison/ site because to be honest I really don't care about SU.

  11. Suggestions for the Ralph:

    Where to start?

    1. Less talking. I realize they're trying to make money, but geez, shutup already. Just when the crowd is responding to good play or getting excited about something going on in the hockey GAME, we have blah, blah, blah instead.

    2. The worst has got to be the makeover ad/promotion. Please, make it go away.

    3. More band, less "canned" music. This is college, not the NHL.

    4. Make programs available at each entrance.

    5. A new laser show.

    6. Why can't they do the laser show Fri. and Sat.? There are still "newbies" at the Ralph every Friday. It would be nice if they could see it.

    7. More/different food options.

    8. Definitely, have the crowd sing the national anthem. It would be a wonderful tradition to have 10,000 plus belting it out.

    9. It would be nice if there were songs/chants/cheers that everyone could know and participate in. Probably led by the band, similar to Wisconsin, Michigan Tech, etc.

All very good ideas!! I like 1,2,3,8 the most!!!

Would like to see the out of town scores on the facia ring.

Is it me or does everyone else also hate Clovedale meats and Old Dutch??

I avoid their products for some crazy reason.

  12. Um right, I don't know any of the following people as Sioux hockey players:

    Joe Finely

    Taylor Chorine

    Andrew Kopek

Can anyone help me figure out who they are and how they ended up in the Sioux section of that article?! (I don't get how they managed to spell Phil's name right though, because I can't do that yet lol)

Actually, after looking at the whole article, they spell A LOT of names wrong. Maybe they should do some research before writing anything about hockey, it makes them look like morons....:D

I've e-mailed good old Adam before he's a tool. I corrected him last year on a few of his

articles. The guy is an idiot, I put him right up there with Bob Norton. They don't have a clue about the western schools.

The one good reporter who I have met and had a good college hockey conversation was Dave Starman.

He does the research and knows college hockey!!!!

  13. One last note of coincidence, the same Head Crests and Patches used on these fake jerseys were used on a North Dakota game worn one game wonder in 2001 for the closing of the old arena. Those retro jerseys have tags by Gemini, worn in the game and sold to the fans.

If you need more information or have a question that you don't want to use the forum for, send me an email via my site.

    John

The faded Sioux/Blackhawk logo's are from the old Bookstore correct?

The story I heard when I bought my two game worn 2001 jerseys was that the crest logo's and t-hawk patches were still on campus and used on the tribute jersey's for the last game at the old Ralph.

    I have #4 and #26.

I purchased them at the new Ralph in the Sioux Shop as soon as they hit the rack!

It would be interesting to see where all the gamers ended up at. (other than in AZSIOUX's closet) :D

  14. watch the video closely....the pass come off his one skate, and before he can do anything with his other leg, a BC player pushed his leg out with his stick...so whether he was planning on kicking it or not, he didnt even have control of the motion his leg made because it was moved by the stick of the BC player...the goal should have counted.

That's the way it looked from a little sports bar in Bowman, ND the college hockey viewing hot bed. :)

  15. espn zone was fun as well...............

espn zone sucked !!! :) A large group were on tour of the local bars. Zone was our 1st stop! :) We were told we would have to "purchase food" if we wanted to be served. What a sad excuse for a sports bar!!!

We did enjoy the next stop "Rock Bottom" until the locals started pouring in and the service turned to crap. The drinks were great the service sub-par.

The Best bar we found was the one at the Hotel Crowne Plaza.

The bartender was a riot and the drinks were awesome. I think the CP lost money! :D

I did love how the Sioux fans took over Coyote Ugly two nights in a row what a blast! Great to meet all you Sioux fans from across the country!!!! :D

I can also give you the food critic reviews if you would like. :)

  16. Flying by the seat of your pants is FUN! :)

I agree. Resting up this weekend for the "drive" to Denver. Have the hotel.

Not real worried about tickets since St. Louis had alot of sellers out in the street with really cheap tickets.

But I wouldn't pass on an offer if someone had a couple of tickets to sell. :)
