  1. No, no, no! The officials should have made sure that Gwoz went down the tunnel to the locker room or sent him off to the press box the minute they ejected him from the game. The cross-ice stalking should never have been allowed to happen. What part of "ejected" doesn't Gwoz understand?

It is now ok to walk on the ice just don't flip anyone off.

    WCHA =:silly:

  2. LOL!! Respect!! LOL!! :D

So when Gwoz had his hand on his ear it was to ask what the penalty was?? LOL!! The late coach Shawn Walsh of Maine used to do

    the same ear tug.

For those of you who might not be familiar... An ear tug is another way to display the choke sign.

I sit in section 106 and have a clear view of Gwoz and the antics he did/didn't do.

Will the WCHA do anything probably not. :silly:

  3. GG was penalized under Rule 6, Section 1.d.

He should have been penalized under Rule 6, Section 44.a. -- His entrance onto the ice was a refusal to start play. What's the penalty for that?

UND 1, DU 0 (Final, by forfeit)

And for those of you without the rulebook ...

Under Rule 4, Section 10, no, the game can not be retroactively made a forfeit; however, it should have been called such by Anderson and Campion under 6:44.a.

However, 4:10 says GG's actions may (should) face additional scrutiny.

George is bigger than the WCHA he proved it by walking out on the ice. Also note he gave the choke sign to the officials! Classic!! ???

Correct me if I am wrong.. Didn't George sit on the rules committee not to long ago?? :glare: What a tool. ;)

  4. Maybe they'll get more than what they want. Like being ignored.
    ???

JMHO, but the NCAA has handed your state's tribes a lever with a three-year lifespan. As noted, they can see exactly how the Seminole Tribe has leveraged the same situation into some continuing advantages at FSU and in the state of Florida. If the Sioux walk away without using the lever, how has the situation improved for the tribe?

It would be one thing if they were breaking new ground. The Seminoles have provided a blueprint for the ND tribes.

For that matter, since the NCAA has negotiated this one-sided settlement, all the tribes have to do is insert a five-year renegotiation clause in any agreement. They have a lot of options.

To that, I'd say "negotiate and see if you can get even more than what you have now".

Dropping this lever without using it assures you won't lose what you have now: but then again, exactly what do you have now that you like so much?? Why not see what this tool can do before it expires in three years?

From the perspective of the tribes, I don't see a price for sitting down and talking. What do they lose by doing that?

    Well spoken.

  5. shortsighted how? What possible incentive would the pro nickname changers have to talking when all they have to do is wait for 3 years and they get what they want?

I don't see the incentive to talk at all from the Tribe's perspective. Not derogatory, just fact.

Heck, if they sit and talk, they might lose part or even all of what they want. Compromise means that you don't get everything you want, but you get some. I don't see the pro-nickname changers being a party to that.

redwing77, Today in the Herald The Time Out Week has been canceled. How sad here was a chance for Ron His Horse and Braun of Indian Studies at UND to come to UND and agree that they need help funding the various N/A functions and

an going issue of funding for the various projects that involve The Dept of Indian Studies at UND. And yes even (gulp) compromise about the use of the nickname and logo.

IMHO, UND might be able to come to an agreement that sales from UND merchandise could be used to help sponsor

events like The film series on Canadian Aboriginal issues or The Wacipi Time Out.

I agree with you Redwing77. When the current logo goes away so will any extra funding UND has. UND will not have the extra cash for many things that help Grand Forks as a community and the state and all who inhabit it because of lost revenue in sales tax.

If the logo goes so be it. Sad that a few misguided people can inflict so much angst.

  6. Wayne Nelson confirms that Idaho State has bought out its contract, and won't be playing in Grand Forks in 2009: link

I'd like to see either Maine or Northern Colorado for the Potato Bowl. Both had Sept. 12th open as of Jan. 7 according to footballscoop.com. We have a connection already with Maine due to hockey, and Northern Colorado is always in need of money considering how poorly they draw. With the Texas Tech payday, it seems like we could afford to pay one fairly large guarantee, particularly when you figure the game should sell out.

I think the Black Bears would be great!!

  7. What SBoHE policy are some of you talking about? With one exception, the stated policy of the Board is to stay out of athletic decisions involving the state's colleges and universities. The exception, of course, is the nickname matter, but can anyone actually quote a legislator or SBoHE member commenting on a policy that state universities are supposed to play one another or go to bat for them in conference deliberations? Because I've got several quotes saying the opposite.

To be clear you are stating it is not in the best interest for the State of North Dakota to help another state entity ?

Just a simple yes or no. Please post anything you know from the AG of ND or quotes saying the opposite.

I for one would be most interested.

  8. Taylor is not obligated to schedule UND, but it's part of his job as an employee of the state to adhere to NDBOHE policy. Whether he likes it or not the State of ND and the ND taxpayers (which includes a hell of a lot of UND grads) pay his salary. Tom Douple may be a hell of a pal to Gene but he doesn't sign Gene's checks so it really doesn't matter what the hell the Summit League's policy regarding playing UND is since that sure as hell better not be NDSU's. If Taylor and Chapman want to continue to take this stance then they will have to pay with their jobs because they're no longer serving the state of ND anymore.

    ditto!

If it is found that SU's leaders have avoided following NDBOHE policy,

it is up to ND leadership to let these workers go.

  9. I cannot say what SDSU's position may be on the subject. As you and others have noted, SDSU has scheduled several baseball games with UND so that says something...just not sure what (maybe it says nothing more than the schedules of the two schools "fit" on those dates).

I'm an outsider on your warfare with NDSU. I cannot fully understand whatever goes on in the minds of some UND fans as expressed on this message board. (I know, its just a few posters.) The USD and SDSU relationship did not seem to attain the same whatever it was that you guys managed to attain.

Several posts ago, someone asked why UND fans...or some on this message board,...seem to get so bent out of shape because NDSU won't schedule UND. Someone asked: Why do you care? I have looked through this thread for an anwer to that question. Why do you care? You have full schedules. Some of the same posters have made such extreme statements showing intense hatred for all things Bison...so why do you care? I think you'd be pleased UND and NDSU are not on each others schedules.

Who's bent out of shape? Last time I checked this was a Sioux Sports forum not Bisonville. All the same SU posters post the same

thing over and over. I am going to guess you never have seen the video Fire and Ice with Roger and Rocky you might have a better understanding of this rivalry. SDSU is the new kid on the block when it comes to NDSU. UND is Old School when it comes to NDSU.

  10. This stuff makes my head spin. Whey would these guys do something like this? Are they that worried that UND might be kicking their @$$ on the athletic field some day soon? What the heck is NDSU scared of?

It sort of sounds like it.

The Chief has a point if UND finds out in some way SU submarined UND in trying to procure

a spot in the league that SU is part of, being a tax payer in the GREAT STATE of ND I want

    to see heads roll!!!

    The question I have is,

If UND drops the nickname does NDSU go to the Summit League and say we want UND to join?

It's time for SU to show leadership and stop acting like Jan Brady!! No problem if Taylor comes

to bat for UND is there SU faithful?

Or does SU use an excuse of "We have enough teams already." Again is SU a leader or a Jan Brady?

Should be interesting to hear what the NDBOE has to say in the next couple of weeks.

I also would like to submit a new nickname Plains Raiders. I would have said Red Raiders but Texas Tech is using that nickname.

  11. Hey darell, wave your magic wand and make it happen than.

psst... That's why UND hired Faison... :D

I hope this is just a glitch and that UND can schedule a better team.

This smells to much like a Potato Bowl game vs Crookston from

    years past.

  12. cool on TH and woog. maybe gorg will tell everyone about his goalie days at burnsville or wherever he played. you would be better than that guy cardinal :D

I hope Gorg isn't driving them up. Didn't he have a roll over up in Warroad last year ? :D
