McFeeley's take on the radio contracts
http://www.in-forum.com/articles/index.cfm...=Mike%20McFeely
Those are the lessons the brain wizards in the NDSU athletic department should have learned as they shuffle back to WDAY, jockstraps in hand, to work out a broadcast deal to air the mighty Bison. The flirtations with Clear Channel are dead, mainly because that entity decided University of North Dakota hockey broadcasts are too profitable to let get away.UND over NDSU? Hopefully a lesson in humility and certainly a slap in the face.

Kupchella may develop a cult following after his letter.

I have that Indian head logo on a green and white hook rug carpet I bought at a garage sale years and years ago. Is this logo from the '70s?
I remember something similar to that painted on the east wall inside Hyslop (at the time called the Fieldhouse). Was it painted over the glass block that used to be in there?

Thanks, PCM! According to the controls, my other avatar was the correct dimensions, but obviously not the right size. I apparently must learn how to make pictures "light" enough to fit the size requirements.
GeauxSioux, when I first read "do something about that avatar" it felt like a command...yell was obviously too harsh of a word, but I was a little embarassed (and oversensitive). I apologize if I offended you in any way. I feel I convey messages better vocally, which is the main reason why I don't post here all that often.
Sorry for the "command" and embarassment. I probably should have put a on the message.

My work is done here. I will move on.

I PMed siouxjoy with a link to a Sioux logo avatar that's the correct size for this board.
Thanks.
-
I don't know how.
Am I breaking board rules? Have I been breaking rules for a long time now? How come it took 140some odd posts until someone yelled at me for this?
I really am wondering about this, not trying to be defensive.
First. I didn't yell. I'm typicall not the yelling type.
Avatars are supposed to follow the following protocols:
Your avatar must be no bigger than 64 pixels by 64 pixels in size. Uploaded avatars from your computer must be no larger than 20 KB.This is under the heading of "My Controls".
I don't think this is policed and I'm not trying to police it either, I just noticed with all of the other things open on my desktop this morning (Oultlook, Excel, Word, AutoCAD, ...) that the page I was looking at took an unusual amount of time to load. I looked and saw your avatar slooowwwwllllly loading. I right clicked on the avatar and saw how large the file was.
If you right click on another Sioux logo from someone elses avatar you can see how large the file is and where you can link to it. Some of them are being linked to UND sites, which is the easiest.
Once again, not trying to be a pain.
-
Siouxjoy do something about that avatar. WOW is that a big file for a tiny little picture.
-
You guys all have good points.
Here's one for you, if this is such a slam dunk, why aren't any schools in the Midwest considering it?
The 15% in the poll who thought it was a stupid idea were probably not Sioux fans anyway, so the numbers may have been higher. As always though, online polls are easily skewed. I do like the idea.

From a recent George Will column:
I've always enjoyed reading George Will. The man has a way with putting his thoughts into written word that make you understand and ponder at the same time. A vey thoughtful writer. It also helps that I usually agree with him.

The only thing that I can think is that the AD didn't want to get locked into contracts for next year with an impending move to D-I. I'm sure that it is hard to get home games this year with no return for next year.
As for Metro owing us one, I'm not up on that. I'd have to leave that to someone more knowledgeble about past schedules and contracts.
-
The new schedule has been posted. With the possible exception of Northern State, the non-conference games don't look to be big draws attendance-wise.
-
I love the ending.
Certainly you have plenty of things to fix that really do have to do with athletics. We, too, have moreimportant things on which to work.
All of this notwithstanding, sometimes – even at some cost and some risk – it is best to
stand up to injustice.

Upon reading the full text of the letter to the NCAA, it has become obvious that someone in the president's office reads siouxsports.com. Some of the arguments and comparisons have been posted here in the past.
-
I didn't see where anyone had linked the whole letter. If they already have, sorry, if not here it is.

My parents live in GF and their opinion is that it is inevitable that UND will be in Division I. Why not make is sooner rather than later. They have been season ticket holders for basketball since the 1960's and last year was a very disappointing year to endure. I'm sure if the level of play and competition continues on the same track attendance will suffer.
If I were a student at UND or local fan, I would much rather see UNI, Creighton, UWGB .... than see Mayville, Crookston, Minot. Sure we may lose to some of the D I teams, but lately we have been losing to DAC10 teams.
Obviously putting NDSU back on the schedule again would also mean more $$ for us and for them.

That coffee should be regulated by the FDA, it's addicting!! When I had my first cup in NO, I forced it down for politeness sake. That's all it took! I HAD to have it several times daily after that. I've made it at home but it's just not the same.
It is indeed addictive. I have to drink Folgers at work (company provided and approved by the masses), but nights and weekends it's Community.
-
I've made 2 rhubarb pies already this spring. Straight up, too. No strawberries. That's like cream in your coffee.
No cream in the coffee. Community Coffee New Orleans Blend with chicory. That's a hearty cup of coffee.

Our win over Wisconsin last year was on every sports persons lips all over the USA for weeks. It's what's basically driving your move to DI this year. It's called jealousy.
Your right that I did hear about it for a couple of days. I had one of our suppliers in my office here in Florida a couple of days later and he knew about it. I have a big picture of the Ralph hanging over my desk and he looked up at and said "I hear that your school (UND) beat Wisconsin over the weekend". Sorry, he didn't know who NDSU was, but he hears about UND through hockey
-
Is anyone checking out fan websites for USD or St. Cloud? I would think that USD would give DI very serious consideration if UND decides to move. With SDSU already moving and the NCC further eroding, I think they would probably follow.
Others say that SCSU would also move. That would surprise me but it may happen. I don't think MSU has any intentions of moving and I am sure UNO would simply join the MIAA.
Anyone know what these schools may be thinking?
USD fan site. They seem to be talking about the D-I move.

And why did NDSU move when they did?? Could it be that the Sioux have been kicking their butts for the last 10+ years, coupled with a very successful hockey program and beautiful new venues?
NDSU was fine being in Division II when they were winning in football, because that is their top sport. When your top sport is losing to your rival, who has that GREAT hockey team to boot, that hurts and you had to do somthing. Hence the move to Division I
I remember reading a comment by Bohl in the past year, where he was saying that NDSU football was going to surpass UND hockey in popularity. Wishful thinking on his part, but he admitted that UND hockey is more popular than NDSU football.
With all of UND sports going Division I, you just got trumped.
