  1. It's not a question of what we want. It's what I understand is typically done with sex offenders in prisons.

Although this blog describes prison life in England from a convict's point of view, it shows that being treated as a "vulnerable prisoner" isn't exactly a bed of roses. I imagine that it's preferable to being beaten to death with a broom handle by another prisoner (i.e. Jeffrey Dahmer).

I understand that "we" don't get a choice in the matter. Just stating the obvious (which my wife says I do far too often) that segregation is too good for him. I wish there a text style for sarcasm that I could use when I'm stating the obvious or some other sarcastic quip.

  2. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that all prisoners found guilty of sex-related offenses are routinely segregated from the prison population. Other prisoners tend to kill them if given the opportunity.

We don't want that. That would be letting him off too easy. He needs to be subjected to years of torture from the other inmates. On second thought, maybe a public display of torture such as that in Braveheart then place him in prison. Maybe have certain parts of his anatomy removed during the torture. As you can tell this kind of animal brings out the worst in me.

  3. Data from USCHO box scores and NCAA.org:

Saturday, November 04, 2000 at Magness Arena (Att: 5880)

    How's that?

Do you have a breakdown of male/female?

How many were wearing UND garb so we can be sure that they really were UND fans?

    ;)

  4. Yes, it seems to me a strange way to handle this too. I also think we will get in along with SDSU. It has been interesting watching the reaction on Bisonville. People seem to get paranoid pretty fast and forget that the MidCon probably needs the SUs worse than the SUs need a conference........but, who knows. Until the invite is out anything is a possibility. A little suspense makes this thing more exciting....that is for damn sure!

Has your perspective changed over the years on the Mid-Con? I recall you saying the you would rather be independent that be in the Mid-Con. I know point of view can be altered over time. Situations change.

  5. If I were a Bison fan, I wouldn't like how this has been handled. Why not make one announcement and let each of the schools hold their own press conference or have the representatives of each school come to Mid-Con HQ and have one press conference for all?

I know that many Bison fans are a little uneasy about the events of the day, but I still think that the Bison will get an invitation, whether they take it or not, who knows. They may have multiple conversations going on with Mid-Con and Big Sky.I know I'll get blasted for that last statement, but so be it.

  6. That's a pretty big obstacle. Not to mention that I'm sure the folks at Alerus are happy with being labeled a "short-term solution".

Not too unhappy. They are the ones saying it.

Alerus Center officials aren't yet worried because they say that's the university's thinking in the long term.

"The center is a short-term solution to their long-term needs," commission chairman Randy Newman said.

  7. I don't see any where that Bison fans are hoping the sioux fail? That's your own paranoia talking. If you remember alot of sioux fans and some members of the legislature were asking about finances and how NDSU will fund the move. (with many of those saying we'd fail) At the time NDSU was even or in the black, so I don't think you can find it unreasonable that people want to now how UND is going to do it with 850,000 of red ink (if true) BEFORE the move. ;)

You're joking right? I could find 10 threads in a matter of minutes over at B'ville where they are either predicting or hoping that North Dakota fails in the jump to DI. As IowaBison has stated in the past they are probably a minority of the overall Bison fans, but to say you don't see any is nuts.

  8. I have the MP3 HCHockeyMix on my desktop at work and had to pull it up this morning.

I wasn't fortunate enough to be at the game, but did listen to it that night. The guys who did the mix did a great job. It gives you goosebumps.

The Gophers are being sent home.

    I love that line.

  9. Sorry for reporting some facts....I guess after checking with my connection in Twamley in the Accounting department...it is true...850...but I wont speak anymore facts...some people remind me of the parent who chooses not to admit their son is bad or doing something wrong...head in the sand I believe is the term...carry on!!!!!!

"Sorry for reporting some facts??" You come on here and spew out a number and we are all supposed to agree without questioning??

Additionally, some of us don't believe in scolding our children until we have all the facts. As "Sic" said. details please.

  10. Typical sioux logic on anyone bringing up bad news - shoot the messenger.

Typical Bison fan fanning the flames with "0" facts. Bad "news" used to include facts, but with today's media it isn't a requirement.

  11. I guess that cutting, preparing and analzying did not work so well...numbers are 850,000 in the RED....youch...D1...how will this happen and work...oh yea...that 450 grand a year from the NC2A...BYW....where is that money coming from?? LTC???

On a similar note...glad to see the FB coaches get a 0% raise and LTC taking care of his administrative staff...with 5 and 10 % raises...well done...keep those coaches that got UND to where it is...I wonder how fast Mr. Bollinger found out about the 0% raise...my money says...quickly!!!

Do you have a link or some reference to which you can direct us, the ignorant masses, or is this inside information only?

  12. Because ... especially from a basketball perspective ... the reason school X is playing at the D1 level is to get a cut of the very lucrative TV contract that is shared equally amongst every D1 member.

The more members in D1 the smaller the pie ... not everyone wants to share their pie.

Basketball is not germane to this discussion. The only sport to my knowledge that has minimum attendance requirements is I-A football. If your attendance falls below 15,000 you may be asked to drop from I-A to I-AA. Whether you are DI-AA or D-IA in football you are still Division I in basketball and your slice of the basketball pie would remain the same with the possible exception of the conference you are in. The power conferences obviously are taking more of the pie.

  13. I'll stand by my statement that your starting rumors. How do you square the fact that some of the following posts are asking about the 10 year agreement and penalties?

    You answered your own question:

asking about the 10 year agreement and penalties

How does asking questions constitute starting rumors? I agree with Katothr's statements. You go ahead and stand by your statement and stand alone.

  14. Looking at the UND interactive map I find that the Old Ralph is being used for an Environmental Training Institute. I don't remember hearing that before. Is this just a temporary use of the facility? Is this a new program? Being in construction I can see a real need for this type of education. Mold remediation and lead abatement are big businesses.

  15. I'm not sure I follow you. The blurb you quoted cites Division I-A's attendance requirements. We're not going D-IA in football.

We are not going I-A, but a number of teams are not reaching the 15,000 attendance requirement for I-A and may have to drop back to I-AA. 6 of these teams are in the MAC. Admittedly these schools are not next door to us, but I wonder what will happen to them if they do need to drop back to I-AA and what will happen to the MAC? Sorry for being unclear, but it was late.
