At how many of those "bigtime" hockey schools is hockey the number one priority?
Michigan? Not even close.
Ohio State? No.
Boston College? Possibly. Hockey might be the most popular unless Doug Flutie returns there.
Minnesota? State of hockey. Probably. Though it doesn't help that they suck at FB right now.
Michigan State? Nope.
Notre Dame? Rudy, Rudy, Rudy!
Wisconsin? Football school.
These are your big-time schools that play hockey.
You can now add Penn State to the list. Anyway, please list your 8 big-time FCS schools.

With all this controversy with the Sioux suck chants by Bison players and fans it is just a reminder of how we need to get the nickname behind us.
Just because some Bison fans and players are yelling Sioux suck, that is a reminder of why we need to get this behind us? Are you kidding me?
Ten years from now Bison fans will be yelling Sioux suck, but who cares? There isn't one member of the Spirit Lake Tribe that thinks the chant is directed at them. I didn't hear Eunice Davidson demanding an apology. Only Gene Taylor, ROK, Bernard Franklin, Mark Emmert, Elliot Glassheim, John Hoeven and the SBoHE are dumb enough to think that. I purposely left a few people off that list, including the three stooges who have represented North Dakota, because they're not capable of thinking.
It's comical how NDSU and Gene Taylor felt the need to come out with an apology. The only thing dumber now will be if ROK comes out and says he accepts Mean Gene's apology. I'm actually surprise he hasn't. All these clowns must think they are full blooded Sioux since they are the only one's who get offended by the name. Will someone please go and tell these idiots that they are white guys with no Native American blood and they have no clue what is offensive to the Spirit Lake Sioux.
If I remember right, Hoeven got his degree from Dartmouth and Kelley came through Berkeley. I believe they, along with the others, got their Masters Degrees in Stupid. Some didn't get "Stupid" enough so they went on to receive the Doctorate and that explains why your average 5th grader has a better grasp on life than these dolts.

Why don't you list all the schools that play college hockey? Why didn't you list the better FCS schools?
I just listed the top schools that UND plays for Division I National Championships.
I thought I did list all the better ones. I guess I should have included Richmond, Appy State, Villanova and Jim Madison since they've all won championships lately....sorry for omitting them.

And sorry Vegas, that won't fly here. As hockey titles and football titles are two totally different animals. One sport you have to play against a significantly higher amount of teams. That is a discussion for another time.
I believe you are trying to lump the title won last weekend in with a BCS title. Johnboy, you have to remember that this is FCS football and in no way compares to the Division I Championship that Alabama won on Monday night in New Orleans.
So yes, you are right that hockey titles and football titles are two totally different animals. Division I hockey titles are won against the likes of Michigan, Michigan State, Boston College, Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Ohio State, Boston U, UMD, DU, etc.
FCS football titles are won against the likes of Sam Houston State, Western Illinois, Southern Illinois, Youngstown State, Northern Iowa, Wofford, Towson, Charleston Southern, Coastal Carolina, Gardner-Webb, Savanna, Hampton, Clifford/Galesburg, Hunter, Grandin.
From there it gets worse if you want to go anywhere in any of the other sports. If you want to rock in the Summit world you need to get past IPFW, IUPUI, UMKC, Oral Bob's, Cavalier, Park River & Pekin/McVille.

seth jones? really? the kid might be the second overall pick- hes not playing college hockey.
If he's the 2nd overall pick, that would put him wayyy out of UND's reach since Jonathan Toews was wayyy down at the 3rd overall pick and Hak had no chance at landing him either.

As to the new conference, the Colorado Springs Gazette has a nice overview of Jim Scherr:
http://www.gazette.c...mez-scherr.html
I don't want to waste my time, so before I click on that link I have one question, is the overview in High Def?

That Kid has MJ written all over him.
So did Jonathan Toews.

I was not on that bus, unfortunately. But I wish I had been. Al brings some good times!
taz
Well, it's been 6 years but for some reason I was thinking you were on the bus.
OK everyone, help me out here. If you were on Al's bus #2 to the Columbus, OH Frozen Four in '05, who was the guy with the shaved head and tattoo in the back of the bus next to the keg?

Kelley said the transition “will not include any ban on wearing Fighting Sioux clothing at athletic events,” but he asked that fans who do wear or display the nickname and logo to “do so in a manner that is respectful to American Indians.”
http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/223266/
I wonder if he's talking about the same "manner of respect" that he has shown to the Spirit Lake and Standing Rock tribes?

With the "Fighting Sioux" nickname and logo being retired by the University of North Dakota, I'm concerned about my future as an active racist and bigot in the upper midwest. At whom, or more preferably what, shall I direct my hatred, hostility and abusiveness in the form of unconditional support and adoration for my subjects and their accomplishments?
You see, when I wish to get my hate on a minority group, I like to do in a very public way. With a delicious hot dog and beverage in hand, I scream my utter delight as those I loathe excel in their activities, primarily sports. When the Fighting Sioux succeeded, I was happy for them; when they failed, I felt bad. All the while, I even wore colorful clothing that showed I fully identified with them and their cause, a clear sign of my support for their genocide. Now what?
Cleveland Indians, Washington Redskins, Florida State Seminoles... all under consideration, especially the latter since hatred of the Seminoles is fully endorsed by the NCAA. How convenient for me!
I noticed I took great interest in this Blackhawks team a couple years ago, and their run to a Stanley Cup championship. They are geographically advantageous, so on-site venting and bile spewing could be done on a periodic basis with a manageable travel budget. And, that logo...

Another great post from "Taz the Chick Magnet".
I believe you were on "Al's Fun Bus" to Columbus, OH with me back in '05.....right?

"The manufacturer of the quirky and colorful ice cream beads, which are flash frozen using liquid nitrogen, owes $12 million, the bulk of it to a unit of Regions Financial Corp."
How can that be? I personally spent $12MM at The Ralph over the last 10 years buying Dippin' Dots.

Since Broten was a Gopher, he was a gopher fan after all.
I'm not sure how that would work since Broten started playing for the Gophers in 1978 and Zach was born in 1984.
Trivia: Do you know why Neal became a Gopher rather than a Sioux?
-
Looks like a quality get for the Sioux after looking at his profile, albeit, a year old. Says he's 6'4 with good size. Vids that accompany show some good throws and runs. Should be good competition between him and Joe Mollberg down the road.
http://www.ncsasport...ol/ryan-bartels
Interesting that he's a kid from Illinois and has a scholarship offer from a team in the middle of the MVFC cabbage patch and he chooses to play for a team in the Big Sky Conference.

No problem pal. I've brought us the same amount of National Championships as Hakstol has. And I'm doing it for FREE. He has had the most talent in the last decade than any other team in the country and still has produced SQUAT.
You "happy to be there" fans can take all of your frozen four "appearances". I've been a UND hockey fan for 2 decades and expect NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS from a program with the history that UND has.
Hakstol CHOKES time and time again and gets outcoached by Hockey East time and time again. We don't need to pay a coach an arm and a leg to do that.
So again, my "resume" for you includes ZERO National Championships. The same that our overrated coach has. Good enough for ya?
Just as I thought....You have no accomplishments of your own that you can list so you can only try to minimize other peoples accomplishments.
Are you ashamed to say that you were able to correctly fill 75% of your orders at the drive-thu and that your picture is now hanging on the wall as employee of the month?

He delivers every year all right. A big ol CHOKEJOB every year. You're right, we can count on him to deliver that every year.
Here is a partial list:
Hak took over the premier college hockey program in the country seven years ago and has not only maintained, but added to the program. He has a .653 winning percentage in those 7 years. He's been a 6 time Spencer Penrose finalist and taken the Sioux to the Frozen Four 5 times. He's won 2 of the last 3 MacNaughton Cup's and last year had the 3rd winningest season in program history. Last year he had a program record 16 student athletes on the WCHA All-Academic team and 5 of them were WCHA Scholar Athlete's.
Please list your credentials/accomplishments over the last 7 years.

I'm not sure what area of law Grant specializes in, but if that was his closing statement, he'd have a hard time convincing a jury of twelve 3rd graders that he's right.
Tomorrow he'll toss out the statement "if the goves don't fit, you must acquit."

Gopher football is an embarrassment to the Big 10 and the state of Minnesota. They should be playing in the MIAC where they'd stand a good chance at a winning record.
-
I have to admit this whole NCHC is looking less attractive if the likes of St. Cloud join it. I just don't understand the thinking in this one. Let's hope it's not true. I wonder if there is some petition we could sign to nt allow St Cloud into the NCHC. If they are they will immediately poison the well.
Agreed, but on the bright side, every conference needs a bottom feeder. This couldn't get much worse. What's next, an invite to the Gophers?
-
With the addition of SCSU, the NCHC will have 6 of the top 10 attendance leaders in the NCAA last year.
I'd rather have 5.

It works with his gold chains and favorite platform shoes.
He started buying the Bling when he moved into the big-time.

Congrats none the less. I've always enjoyed reading your game recaps for the Sioux on USCHO.
Don't pump him up too much. His friends say he's too full of himself already.

I thought you celebrated whitney's entire catalog of hits... As far as the pairing with Virg, were you the guy in the cowboy hat and Zubas? . I loved your Slim Jim commercials.
I don't believe PCM has made it to the '80s yet with Zubas. Last time I saw him he was fighting with Virg over a bag of popcorn up in the pressbox. He was decked out in his favorite Bee Gees Saturday Night plad leisure suit.
UND/NDSU football commentary: You can't retire stupid

This is your list? I asked for 8. Everyone new about Appy State for a few days but that is pretty much forgotten. I suspect 99% of the population associated with FBS teams have no clue who Appy State is. I hate to rag on FCS because that's what UND is playing also, but NDSU fans need to put this in perspective. Much of Fargo bought into Smokey Joe's snake oil pitch, and they still do, but FCS is what it is. I think we all wish it was more, but It's pretty much what DII was 10 years ago only with more scholarships. It's unfortunate that the BCS National Championship game is right behind the FCS game. Even if they were a week apart, the FCS game might get a little more notice. But everyone, with the exception of the two small schools involved in the FCS title game, seems to want to watch a few guys on ESPN making FBS predictions than watching NDSU play Sam Houston State play for the championship. Again, it is what it is.
Like you say, the Bison (just like everyother FCS team) at least has an opportunity to play against the "Big Boys." But, the closest they'll come to Fargo is if their flight plan takes them overhead at 40,000 feet. When Michigan, Michigan State, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Boston College, and Ohio State play against the Sioux, their flights actually stop in Grand Forks. Penn State will be making the stop at some point also, as soon as UND lets them on the Sioux schedule. I will give you one thing though, the Minnesota Gophers do come to Fargo and almost pass through the NDSU campus as they travel up to Grand Forks to play UND.
