Things could change of course but based on the current settlement NIL as "pay for play" is more or less done. (obviously you could still pay players under the table) NIL will still exist but it will be for the case of players getting a share of their jersey sales or being able to do add deals for products (bauer, Deeks, etc) "NIL Go" is ran by Deloitte and now reviews all NIL deals as of June/July this summer. As of present day it sounds like any absurd deals that don't make any true "Business purpose sense" will be rejected. Rev share is a 20.5 million cap (you cant spend above that) Most football schools are already spending 100% of that cap on football especially in the SEC/Big 12. So the big 10 can say they aren't going to do that but I'm skeptical because as we all know football is King. Things could change but I think Michigan, Penn State, etc are going to allocate almost nothing to hockey. UND brings in 500K minimum from NCHC streaming alone per schloss + add in Midco money for hockey + CBS TV revenue + I'd assume a share of ticket revenue. That's a hefty amount of money yearly that UND can choose to spend. I'd guess they do the Michigan State model and split it up evenly for all players but we'll see. Also rev share contracts will likely have a buyout that a team has to spend so a team would have to buyout a player from their deal at current school so they can transfer.

If it does get rejected they’ll have to use rev-share money. Which is gona piss a lot of people off at Penn state internally haha. That rev share money is NOT meant for hockey I’d assume, definitely meant for football. It sounds like a lot of FBS teams are using close to all of the 20.5 million cap on football at least in year 1. Which is good from UNDs hockey perspective imo Once August 1st hits schools can offer rev share contracts now so it would be pretty funny to see UND announce deals for all of its hockey players while Michigan and Penn state can’t announce any because it’s all been spent up by football / basketball.

Ya slim odds I'd imagine but there has been talk of him possibly going to the CHL for one year so if he's going to be "moving" leagues maybe just cut it down to 1 stop and go to college. You'd imagine if he was going to the CHL now you'd have heard about it already like other players from the USHL. (putting on the tin foil hat on but it seems a little curious)

Curious if there's been any push from the staff to flip Tynan Lawrence and bring him in a year early (he does still follow UND on insta for what it's worth). There's the precedent from Cullen Potter as well last season to come in early and he held his own for the most part. Also flipping him from BU would be some sweet revenge.

The logic of great players moving up all throughout youth hockey to play against older and stronger players will continue as it always has. Yes the CHL will be the best JR league for 16-18 year old players. But once players get past that 18 year old season there's a logical diminishing of returns for continuing to stay in the CHL for your great players that want to continue to make steps in development.

Likely ... BUT you'd have to demo out every SF of concrete below the court and find a way to make a new mechanical room to house the ice refrigerant equipment. (which is a pretty major undertaking unfortunately hahah)

Wouldn't put it past Greg Sankey to get bored in the next few years and set himself a goal to get after his SEC schools to get hockey up and running. He'd find a way to capitalize on TV 10x better than the Big 10 leadership did if it ever happened.

Haven't heard anything - But based on how he follows multiple NCAA schools on insta I'd be pretty surprised if him and his advisor haven't planned ahead to accelerate his schooling so he's ready to play his draft eligible year in the NCAA. Considering how he tore up the dub this year he'll be ready for a new challenge in 2026. Just guessing but seems like he would just follow along with other commits and do visits early fall then commit from there. I don't think he would want to drag the decision out much longer than that during his Dub season.

Classic case of loaded people just missing an easy layup to do something fun and cool (along with obviously adding to his legacy) Speaking of loaded people, I wouldn't be surprised to see Ryan Smith help get BYU off the ground. Would make sense as an NCHC addition too as well to pair with ASU.

I think in general across college hockey I'd just like to see more big time matchups between NCHC, Big 10, and Hockey East schools. Think someone mentioned before but for as much as i respect Bemidji and love to help them out by putting a big time name on their schedule every year I'd like to see us move away from constantly playing them (Every other year or even once every 3 years) Wishful thinking likely but I'd love to see us get in a rotation of trying to play a Boston based team every year whether (IE, BU, Harvard, BC, Northeastern). Speaking as a transplant it's usually cheaper and quicker to fly to Boston than grand forks hahah.

I think he'll make it pretty easy on the coaching staff and just earn his way to the top PP unit pretty quickly. Have massive respect for Weibe and Liv but they don't have that high end offense in their game. Think its the main reason why Liv was passed over in the draft, just hasn't shown that top end gear offensively.

Agreed on Roobroeck ^ I don't mind it being quiet on his front. Not much was mentioned regarding Veorhoeff and then all of a sudden we landed him. Bryn was at the U-18s so he definitely is aware of him and saw him play to determine if they think he can handle college next year.

Just checked their past schedules and they haven't played an NCHC or Hockey East school since... UND at Nashville back in 2021. They'll finally break that streak by playing at ASU this year to open the season. They've been flying under the radar with still scheduling like they're an up and coming club team hahah was not aware of that.

I think the flow of college committed players into the CHL in the next couple of years will help influence more uncommitted CHL players to leave. If some of your best teammates are going to leave after 1-3 years then it almost forces players' hands.

Speaking of Howard, the lightning got back Sam O Reilly from Edmonton (32nd pick in 2024) He is still unsigned and from some comments he seems to be on a longer development path. (seeing UND snatch a player from London would be pretty hilarious)

Just a thought but if the recruitment for Martone has slowed this past month by MSU and they come running in last second after they missed on McKenna and lost a winger, not too sure how keen his agent will be to listen to them. I think it's safe to assume UND's staff has been pressing a little more so we'd have that in our favor. UND (Reschny) along with Penn State (Smith) are the only 2 teams so far to recently 100% land a 1st round 2025 CHL commit in the recent months so I'm going to put trust in Bryn and Co to have a good pitch. Also if they add Martone Penn state would likely have to tell Aiden Fink to kick rocks and move down to the 2nd line so curious if Gadowsky wants to rock the boat that much in his locker room.

I'd guess around 60ish. If he were in the NCHC I'd hammer the under on that total. The Big 10 being more up and down in pace will definitely help.

Decided to look up some recent top draft eligible players that have came through college recently for comps. The guys that tore it up definitely were pretty big from the jump entering college so he's got his work cut out for him. Eichel - 6'2" - 194lbs (71 pts in 40gp) Celebrini - 6'0" - 199lbs (64 pts in 38gp) Fantilli - 6'2" - 190lbs (65 pts in 36gp) Beniers - 6'1" - 175lbs (24 pts in 24gp)

I've been traveling back for games at least once a year and usually don't have issues finding lower bowl resale tickets for around $75 to $100. Some times can get them for face value as well. (Granted any gopher game is obviously a more pricy ticket)

Basketball and hockey are similar in that they've got your atypical smaller schools that will remain competitive in the new landscape due to history, facilities, great coaching staffs. If money was the end all be all then you'd see Creighton, Villanova, Gonzaga, etc falling off a cliff in college basketball but they're not. These schools will also be willing to dump most of their rev share to basketball due to football not being in the picture (Similar to how UND will funnel a majority of rev share money to hockey)

I’m not exactly sure where schloss is taking that info from. If he’s taking it from the combine interview in June that’s when bear said he was going to return to Everett. I’m not sure what he’s said since Detroit drafted him. Wouldn’t be completely shocked if Detroit has mentioned the ncaa to him. After scoring as much as he did last year they could definitely lean towards wanting to see him take a step up in challenge. (Granted if he’s not elligible as we think ncaa isn’t an option for 2025-2026)
