Celebrini was aware of more options being out there, since he had been in the States for a few years and went to Shattuck. Did Berry and the mess of a recruiting approach even pursue Celebrini that hard? My understanding was his final 2 were Boston University and Wisconsin. But yes, times have changed and UND isn't what it once was, but it is still held in high regard by most (Western) Canadians.

Until Motzko and the Goofers go after & land at least one if not several high end CHLers, I'm not going to believe they're seriously in on any of these guys. They're too stuck in their own tribalism of recruiting 90% Minnesotans. In regards to McKenna and North Dakota, North Dakota is one of if not the only NCAA hockey program that Western Canadians know anything about. Maybe some know a lot about Michigan cause it's Michigan, and some of the younger kids know about Denver now, but North Dakota has been the gold standard historically and they've always been extremely welcoming to (Western) Canadian players, unlike other programs such as Minnesota or even Boston College (who hasn't gone after many Western Canadians with the exception of Kobasew and Kolanos). Zakreski stated in his commitment interview/article with Schloss that he knew nothing about the other NCAA hockey programs except for North Dakota. McKenna understands how much hockey means at North Dakota and how much it would mean to play at The Ralph, wear the green, white, & black in front of 12,000 a night. That's probably why he's rumored to be interested in UND.

Cole Reschny looks like a really good 2-way C, playing for James Patrick for the Victoria Royals right now. He'd be nice to have this fall or next.

Was interesting to see that his hockey top 3 (per the NHL.com article) are Notre Dame, Wisconsin, and Michigan State.

They've overcommitted for sure, they'll probably tell some guys to f*** off once those guys don't develop the way Ferschweiler wants. And I'd expect Western Michigan to be active in recruiting CHLers.

That's sorta already happening, but it's more in the form of the below average depth players at programs across the country being cut to make room for CHLers. Not sure how many guys are willingly leaving their school without having a couple options lined up already.

I think I'm most interested to see how quickly CHLers impact NCAA teams in 2025-26: 1. Will the 2026 National Champion have any CHLers on their roster? 2. Will a CHL mercenary like Gavin McKenna lead a team to a National Championship, or will it be someone more like Oliver Tulk (Wisconsin) or Shea Van Olm (Penn State) who stays 2-3 years and eventually leads their team to a ship?

1. Miami will start winning some NCHC games but will still be bad. 2. St Thomas will remain in the CCHA for 2025-26. 3. Tennessee State will be pretty brutal in year 1. Their projected roster from what I gathered is not good at all. They should start going hard after some culture guys in the CHL with some scoring ability (before Dennis Williams and Bowling Green gets them lol) 4. I wonder how many new D1 teams get announced in 2025-26. I will forever want Iowa and anyone in Illinois to go D1. 5. NCAA D1 teams might schedule local ACHA teams for exhibitions to save costs. 6. Yes, I see UNLV announcing within the next year. 7. Lindenwood, as has been rumored, will join the CCHA and start there in 2026-27 after St Thomas leaves.

Wonder if Lindberg would be better suited going back to junior like Laurila did, play in all situations, big minutes, develop more offensively.

Might be good to help keep some US kids home, but the CHL franchises, specifically in the O and some in the Dub, have far greater prestige than any of the USHL franchises. Playing for the London Knights is far more prestigious than playing for the Dubuque Fighting Saints. (Go get Henry Brzustewicz, as I brought up the London Knights)

With Simpson, it comes down to if Jackson thinks he's ready to come in and contribute right away. Can he not be a mess defensively while chipping in a decent amount offensively?

IIRC, Jay Hardwick (UMD guy and Warroad coach) steered Shaugabay in the direction of committing to UMD. I don't remember if the Bulldogs were the first to offer Shauagbay, but they certainly offered before UND. Pilgrim seemed like a fall back option later on.
