  1. The point is not just recruiting any CHLers, but they need Canadian CHLers who have high end skill (the top end guys) and/or high end grit (the older guys, typically from the Dub). A 90% Minnesotan roster doesn't win National Championships, recruiting purely off of convenience bias & insular tribalism really limits your player pool. 2 of their 3 best players in 2022-23 were from Pennsylvania & Arizona. Their last 2 national championships (vast majority Minnesotan roster, I know) were in major part due to guys from Grand Forks North Dakota and Austria. Maybe this season will wake them up lol. Can't just recruit Minnesota HS & Shattuck St Mary's games and expect Frozen Fours every year LMFAO.
  2. Sent you a PM
  3. North Dakota, Denver, & Michigan have always been the best at recruiting (higher end) Canadians. That won't change. While Minnesota may not be able to out-recruit the aforementioned (as well as Michigan State, Boston University, Penn State, Wisconsin, and others) for high end Canadians very often, they certainly could have gone after & gotten solid contributors from the CHL such as Kocha Delic, Teydon Trembecky, Oliver Tulk, Markus Vidicek, Antonin Verreault, Jake Karabela, Jacob Mathieu, Anthony Romani, Clarke Caswell, Justin Kipkie, Colton Roberts, Kalem Parker, Reid Andresen, Nathan Piling, Miguel Marques, Calem Mangone, Luke Woodworth, Josh Fleming, Daniel Hauser, Dawson Cowan, and many more. Those guys aren't going to cost much if anything at all in NIL. All Minnesota has to do is actually recruit everywhere (especially Canada) instead of their 90% convenience bias/insular tribalism recruiting strategy
  4. Not good defensively, but deep enough of a roster to produce. Solid dub nonetheless
  5. But that means you have to be near perfect with recruiting goalies. I'm not confident that Heil is anything quality at the NCAA level. Hopefully Spunar is a 2-3 year guy
  6. It's sad because everyone knows Homer has talent but there's just no positive consistency for him
  7. Extra point is good!
  8. Homer should have poke-checked IMHO
  9. How many open nets have the Sun Devils missed??
  10. Unfortunately a ton of homer announcers across the NCAA.
  11. Just doesn't produce as much offense as I thought he would by now
  12. Unfortunately the NCAA rules are incredibly soft compared to the pro level. Would guess they want to avoid lawsuits & that's why it is called tighter whenever there's anything close to a major
  13. THERE WE GO ZELLERS
  14. F*** YEAH DYLAN JAMES
  15. 3-1 Michigan State over Minnesota. Just hilarious seeing them lose all of these games. Motzko finding out he should have actually done some work & recruited Canadians out of the CHL
  16. Just hold on & get the empty netter
  17. NHL caliber snipe from Verhoeff there
  18. Cooper Simpson leading the USHL in scoring has not been talked enough about, including by me. He's really rounding out his game nicely in junior, which was one of the main objectives. Love it
  19. Kilmpke is obviously a more recent commit, but he's being seriously underrated. Cannot wait to see him progress more and more
  20. WOAH, Potter out for the season
  21. Yeah, they're acting like babies because they can't hoard players for 4+ years anymore nor are they at the top of the development pyramid anymore. They obviously had more or less lost their place at the top of the development pyramid before the rules change, but the separate development routes still gave them a bit of an argument in order to have most high end Canadian players go the major junior route. Now that everyone can go to the NCAA, the CHL isn't special as a final development route before pro. They'll get over themselves eventually, you'd think at least. Hope to see a Carels & then Lin/Ruck Twins/Rudolph commitment at the end of the regular season
  22. Because CHL teams haven't gotten over themselves & haven't come to the realization that NCAA Hockey is much better than the CHL. Once Makar did what he did at UMass and then translated it to the NHL seamlessly, that was basically the unofficial moment where the NCAA was officially better than the CHL. There's still a major Canadian hockey arrogance when it comes to hockey development. Once CHL teams realize that junior is still junior and they can't hoard players for 4 years anymore, they'll realize that they have to let guys move on to the next level when ready. I believe some franchises/organizations in major junior have realized this, but many still haven't.
