I understand for some teams why that would apply but for UND what does losing to a Northern st really do? Not like it matters for the Summit League tournament and there is already a 0.1% chance the Summit is getting a 2nd team in March Madness. So just makes us play better competition. Now do those NSIC want to do the same thing as UND and play a lesser team at home, most likely yes so I can see how that is a problem.

You’re acting like the top NSIC are saying no to playing UND, NDSU, USD, SDSU. Now that could be the case but I would guess more than likely they aren’t reaching out or offering a good guarantee. I could be wrong but would guess they don’t want to schedule a top NSIC because they are scared to lose and take all the risk. They’re worried how it would look if they lost versus playing against some better talent which would make the team better.

I bet if Duke didn’t have one of the largest basketball budgets where they can pay for any team in the country to come there as a guarantee, didn’t play in one of the top conferences in the country, and was located in the midwest where in a 4 state radius there are 10ish D1 teams who are all in their conference they would be looking to schedule with the surrounding schools to help solve a problem everyone is dealing with.

I think @jdub27 makes a good point of working with NDSU and the other Dakotas to work together with scheduling teams back to back to make it more likely for them to come up and play here. Hopefully we can see that happen in the future

I’m very confused about our opinion NAIA, when we want to recruit NAIA transfers they aren’t talented and can’t make the jump to D1. But when trying to play against an above average NAIA its too big of a risk that we’ll lose. Playing against an NAIA at home we should win by a lot, now playing against an above average NAIA should still win very comfortably but now is just more competitive

Its nice for someone who only cares to watch Summit League games but as a fan of college basketball and other college sports this is just another subscription we have to get plus need ESPN+ to watch some of the non conference games.
