  1. i bet when you visit Nicholls State you'll break their attendance record of 12 too.
  2. UND raising the admission standards is a good idea for the school. It makes the school a better place to gain an education. That is the purpose of the school. It's a college before it's several sports franchises. Schools like Stanford and Duke have higher academic standards and still excel in sports like baseball, basketball, and football. There is no reason why the Sioux can't do the same in hockey. Hopefully for the sake of the college the standards are raised, because many people look at UND as a "party" school. Hopefully we can continue to attract players that can score in hockey as well as on tests.
  3. In the Fargo Forum today it syas that the Bison and Jackrabbits will now compete for a traveling trophy. I believe the reasoning for this is that they realize that UND will hold onto the Nickel for a long period of time now. I think NDSU is using this for a way to make all 12 of their fans forget about losing the Nickel so much recently.
  4. As long as UND plays at the Ralph Englestad Arena, the sioux wont change their name, it would cost them too much money to change every logo in the building, logos in the tile, on the sides of chairs, in the weightroom, and the scoreboard. Until the university is willing to fork out that much money, the name is gonna stay
  5. it's a sad day for hockey when California wins anything in hockey, especially the Showcase
  6. hopefully the nhl playoffs continue to offer exciting multiple overtime games, maybe we can all get lucky and the lightning and sharks will go out next. After that we can continue to complain about how boring the summer is.
  7. I believe jloos brings up a good point how commie is the only one to make the 2nd round. It would be nice to see the flames win and be this years ducks but it appears that Belfour has a better shot of winning the cup due to playing in the easier Eastern Conference. Still i wish good luck to Mike and the flames hopefully they knock out the wings.
  8. Montana Tech isnt bad enough to play Montana Tech. Based on how this schedule is coming along they'll probably end up playing the Kindred Community College in the first round, or maybe they'll get lucky and meet the 3rd grade Langdon kickball All-Stars. The move to Division 1 is pointless for the bison. Instead of playing St. Cloud State they get their homecoming against the Southern Utah University Thunderbirds. One more thing to make fun of the bison for.
  9. mine comes from the West Fargo coaching staff
  10. Another thing for jloos, West Fargo had no intentions of dropping the Co-op with Shanley. It wouldnt have made sense to lose players with the skill that Graalum, and Blahosky would have offered. Maybe you need to get your facts straight.
  11. I came up with this topic after watching Game 6 of the Canuck-Flames series. In the 6 periods played i heard the macarena and who let the dogs out at least 5 times each. In my view Welcome to the Jungle by Guns and Roses fits hockey better than any other sport. So say what you think is the best or just make fun of the worst.
  12. This year it looks like the very, very experienced Red Wings will win the cup. Especially with Cujo back in the line up. The bigger issue is that this years champion will get to hold the cup for two years due to the strike in the near future. So the Wings will have it until the Coyotes (America's Team) claims it in 2005-6, or at least i'll keep telling myself that.
  13. For jloos to say that I can't name one kid Shanley has recruited is horrible. I'm here to accept his "challenge". 1) Sean Deichert, 9th grade goaltender for Fargo South. (he transferred early in the hockey season) 2) Mark Harrie, 10th grade letter winner for the Deacons. A year earlier he played for the Bruins feeder program the Fargo Flyers. He is said to be going back to South this coming year. 3) Trevor Anderson, 9th grade defensman whose brother played for West Fargo just a year earlier. Less than a month after the season concluded he transfered back to West Fargo and will play for the Packers next season. 4) Elliot Hitt, one of Shanley's better players last season, played in Sioux Falls, South Dakota the previous season along with goaltender Derek Engdahl. Those are just a few that have been involved with other programs prior to their stint with the Deacons.
  14. i agree with siouxfan but for now college is in the driver's seat
  15. i think multiple overtimes are great games to watch as long as they have a pace, games where teams are trapping each other for 5 periods are boring, fast paced ot's with chances are great to see.
  16. First off bismarck is a great town, 2nd why's everyone praisin Parise for leaving early in my view he didnt live up to his end of the bargain, turns out hes just another wasted scholarship
  17. Im glad to see that gifford showed up at the showcase unlike his terrible performance at the state tournament
  18. i say we nominate shanleycheats for president. After all the information he had to back up his argument he'd be the best candidate for president. He was a little rough by singling out Cory Loos but at least he had the balls to say it. Hopefully he continues to put informative and contraversial topics on here
