I'm going to pivot a little from your original question of showed promise, because that list of course would be bigger. This is based off of what Tom Miller wrote at the middle / end of the season. The question was phrased, which Freshman could potentially make an impact last year. Besides Dennis, he mentioned Bluiett (CB) and Borud (OL).

McNeal was solid on Special Teams and got some end game PT. Hoping he takes a step up.

In my mind the toughest issue facing UND's football future is that we are in a conference, by choice, that will perennially give us a top 10 SOS and every year we will be playing SDSU and NDSU (as will others in our conference). But you could take the top 20 schools in the FCS and almost every one of them would go 0-2 against that gauntlet. A strong schedule should help recruiting hopefully, because student athletes want a challenge. We finished #3 in the toughest conference in the FCS in four years (with what some would say are DII recruits). Not saying anyone should be satisfied with that - few are, but it's also not like we aren't showing progress.

Having attended more games than the average fan over the years, it's quite obvious we need to develop our OL and DL. Skill positions and play calling are not the issue.

    I'd add a super-fast WR or 2

I believe UND could do a turn-around this fast with an internal hire.

Looks like that's what MoiSt did (Beard was the DC).

But, but I thought hiring within, when the program hasn't been great, is the WRONG thing to do.

If UND plays better before the fumble, perhaps that situation never occurs.

Did the fumble hurt? Of course. That’s what that the “win probability graph” shows, but it goes beyond just one single play. It calculates the cumulative effect of all plays up to that point. Football is a 60 minute team game. Probably biggest team game of them all.

But what about the narrative that the SU game LAST YEAR was lost when Bubba went for it on 4th down?

I still say UIW should have tied the game at 35.

And the Colts should have gone up eleven late against Minnesota.

i love going for it on fourth but a tie game is a tie game and up eleven, two scores, is better than up eight, one score.

The 4th down play call was too obvious. They had the man in motion open but that was not the call.

Jacks have the OL, DL. QB, WR.  Jacks by 10

Bison have that mystique and know that but for a silly call by the OC in the first game, they would have dominated the Jacks early and beat them.

    Bison by a TD.

cue up the weber game to about 20 seconds left in the half....then hit pause....ask your wife where this kick should go and you don't even have to tell her who weber's kick off guy is.....wait for her answer and then click play.....

and you wonder why we are watching ndac win another fcs championship game on tv

So this is an acknowledgement that if this kid makes a bad punt, it's on Kostich?

For those in an uproar over NDSU hosting this weekend, this will be no walk in the park for them.  No guarantee they make it to Frisco.  This could be a track meet and their offense isn't designed for that.

But their D does not allow the other team to run very fast in a track meet.

  9. Again, follow the money.

The committee knows if the Bison are headed to Texas they will fill the stadium. That's a lot of fans and a lot of money.

Of course, they get preferential treatment. They earned it.
