117K kids in K-12 in ND.......close it up.

44k kids in daycare facilities.....ok to stay open.

    Makes sense..........

    What Gong Show

If we want to avoid what's happening in Italy, we actually have to do what's happening in Italy.

2 weeks of effective personal isolation. Go to the pharmacy for pills; let the elderly get their grocery early in the day before others get to the stores and that's it.

Correct but also said no evidence that closing schools in other countries have made a difference. That makes it tough on the decision makers.

We know social distancing is the best way to flatten the peak of this. I understand the effects this has on parents who won't have daycare, but the entire society needs to take a break from each other for awhile anyway.

According to the Washington Post, the CDC says there was no evidence that countries that closed schools decreased spread of the virus anymore than those that didn’t. They did comment that closing may allow for cleaning and sanitizing which may help in select areas.

Therefore, those that question closing schools especially in areas where there has been few cases have some points.

It's far better to be overly cautious in these times. Shutting down schools for a week or even a month could save numerous lives and stop the spread of the virus.

5 days? WTF is going to change in 5 days.

So Doug says the cut of for a mass gathering is 50 people.

I'm getting motion sickness from the sign lady...

Does Doug not realize he'll follow the domino effect and he'll be shuttering everything by Thursday.

CDC recommends shutting down all 50 plus gatherings

I don't know anything about the new QB's coming in but what I saw from Schuster last year was impressive, although it was a very small sample. On his short TD pass against Sam Houston he looked to his right, moved the safety and quickly threw back to his left on a slant for the touchdown. It might have been unintentional but it looked like he knew what he was doing. I have a suspicion that he will turn out to be a good one.

I like him too. If I were a betting man (and I am) I'd say it's Schuster out of spring ball.

Something is going to be announced soon on the HPCII.  The only problem is that team would be homeless at least for the next 2 seasons.  It might be worth the wait if we know plans are moving forward.  Look on the bright side, we are getting new turf and new uniforms this season.

Wait...wait...if GF Hockey doesn't announce it, I can't believe it.

Each potential transfer situation is different and should be assessed on a case by case basis. If a transfer can help your football program, including on the field with wins, then you consider adding the player to your program.

Simply labeling all transfer as “bad” is beyond short-sighted and ignorant. Even in the recent past, with Bubba as head coach, UND has has successful additions to the football program with transfers. Examples include CB Alex Tillman, LB Dylan Bakker, WR Clive Georges, OL Michael Coe, and even QB Nate Ketteringham, despite how polarizing he was with the fan base; actual quarterbacks tend to do that to armchair quarterbacks.

Agree very much with this analysis.

Whether they are transfers, Jucos or 18 year old kids, this program needs great players.

    One more thought:

Other schools don't fret about having underclassmen (freshmen, sophomores) step onto the field as 1's or 2's.

Why do we have this mindset that a QB (or other position) isn't ready until they are an upperclassman?

It's about the player and their readiness, and not some letters in the "Class" column of the roster.

    Yes to this.

The best player in FCS is a freshman QB.

Why can't UND have a great Frosh QB?

Possible, but at the same time Oklahoma is still one of the top places for a QB recruit. They've produced two of the last three Heisman winners and had the runner up this year. Despite the faceplant in the playoffs, it really is an appealing place for top end offensive players.

Unfortunately for them, the D players have NOT followed the QB's there.

I have known Hunter since he was a baby and the his mom and family for even longer. I won’t get into the details of the surgery to honor the privacy of the family, but this is a very serious injury and and his dad said, a long and detailed surgery. If you are the praying type, please take a minute to lift Hunter and his family up in prayers.

God bless Hunter and his doctors with a successful surgery and a full recovery.

ira, normally I'm with you, but in this case family is fair game.

Lowell Schweigert was a member of the UND Intercollegiate Athletics Committee as recently as April 2018 (minutes below), which is during the Bubba Era. I don't know Lowell's present status on that committee as the link of committee members seems dated.

    Meeting Minutes: https://und.edu/academics/university-senate/_files/docs/university-senate/us-agendas-minutes/2017-2018/agenda.05.03.18.pdf

Frankly, Shannon Schweigert's public media work (radio Tailgate Show) makes him a public figure also vocally supportive of the Bubba Era even though he too is family.

Shannon's work on the Tailgate Show has nothing to do with Bubba's hiring or contract. It has nothing to do with who the football coach is. I assume IF Bubba was not the coach he would still be involved in public media.

Lowell??  Lowell who, and what does He have to do with the state of the program?

Nothing. Just an old critique on Bubba and how he got the job. It's nothing.

4 teams left in FCS.  Bubba program played 3 of those teams during its 7-4 regular season.

Lost  to NDSU playing a 2nd string QB.

Lost to Weber St in the last moments of the game.

    Beat Montana St.

In reflection UND played the toughest (top 5)schedule in FCS America?

Looks as though UND is much closer to what we all want than many(including myself at times) on this board have thought.

    Look forward to replies.

Nice insight. Makes me feel good about where we are. Add to that what seems like a very nice recruiting class, and some RFrs to make a difference next season, and it's gonna be a fun year.
