I'm looking forward to coming up and watching the SCSU/UND series in November. I had a lot of fun at The Ralph this past season when I came up. It's fun to watch my two favorite teams play each other. And, you know, I guess it's nice to run into fans that aren't excessive pricks... *coughGopherscough* I know not all of 'em are, but a good majority are. Elizabeth

Yeah, I forgot the rule. My mistake. I know the Avs didn't kick ass last night. They were lucky to come off with a win, I'll admit it. But we all do our share of bragging up our teams even when they don't deserve it. And I do believe the series is still 3-1. Elizabeth

Crazy thing is, I saw Conboy at practice today. We all knew he was going to end up leaving anyhow. He was so damn dumb... I'm guessing academic ineligibility, or else he punched out another of his teammates. Or maybe both. I'll miss his slapshot, but not his lack of intelligence. Elizabeth

So many Avalanche haters, I almost feel under attack... I want the Devils to lose in 4 because... 1.) Roenick's always been a favorite player of mine, he's tough as nails and doesn't take s&!t from anybody. 2.) I've also been partial to Philly in the East. Them and the Isles. 3.) I hate New Jersey with a passion, even before they took Zach away only to have him not play. Hell, if they could lose in THREE, I'd wish it upon them. Elizabeth

Wow. Whoever had the picture of Yoda... the flame war has begun, you were right. (Nice image, by the way. ) My two cents: I would have loved to have seen Parise get the Hobey, I personally think he deserved it. No doubt that Junior was right up there, and I think what pushed it in his favor was Duluth making it farther than UND. I think Parise was a better player, and I'll stick to my guns that he deserved it. But it wasn't my decision, it was the panel's decision, and obviously we don't think the same way. However, I'm not going to whine. I did my share of whining when Mark Hartigan didn't win it. Elizabeth

Hey, I love that hockey team to death and I'll cheer for 'em forever... but I won't deny that we haven't done well in our Division I tenure. (I'm not a Gopher fan. ) Our coach ought to be fired and our athletic director needs to be deported to France. Then we might be able to make a season without choking in the second half and in the playoffs. Off-topic of this message, I saw Lessard won the Hobey Baker. That's irritating. Elizabeth

Yeah, they gather nearly every year at the NHC. Mostly it's just the carpet-clad lesbian professors and their cronies who burn incense and spend their days writing beat poetry pretending they're flower children. Yeah, most of us want Dahl to be fired... he's worthless and we know it. And none of the fans are really the PC kind that SCSU has the reputation for. Yeah, I have my last name on my SCSU jersey (Petersen) and one of the protesters asked me how I'd like to have a team named the Fighting Scandinavians. I asked him what he thought the Vikings were, then pointed out his hat... it was a Notre Dame Fighting Irish hat. God, I love hypocrites. Do you know that SCSU took down garland from the Atwood Center because someone complained it was promoting a religious holiday? GARLAND. Not even adorned with Christmas lights. I swear. I was probably part of the 'majority of fans' you were talking about... I spent the entire pre-game apologizing to Sioux fans and arguing with protesters. I even was approached by two Native Americans who told me that they loved the logo and nickname. Sure, I can make fun of it. I'll still make fun of it when I go there. A few friends and I are planning on starting a student organization: 'Students Against Hypersensitive Political Correctness.' Elizabeth

Be gentle now, I'm a Husky fan and a future PCSU student. However, I totally agree with you. Kurtz and Saigo and all the others are extremists. I wore a sign over my jersey one year that read 'I support the Sioux logo.' Kurtz (that's our AD) approached me and told me that if I didn't remove the sign immediately, I'd be escorted from the building. This went on while the people protesting the name were jammed into the concourse holding signs like 'How would you like it if we called you the Fighting Crackers?' and my favorite (which shows how misinformed some of these people REALLY are...) 'Stop committing genocide against the Sioux!' Seriously now, I'm wondering if that blonde white girl holding that sign even belonged at an institution of higher learning. OK, I'll step off my soapbox now. To answer someone's question, the number of logos mattered because one of the contentions is that it would be very costly for the University to change the logo. Thanks tboneund for the sites, although I've been to all of them. This is a favorite topic of mine... I also wrote a ten-page research paper on this subject for my rhetoric class, so I've been involved in this topic for awhile now. Again, thanks to everyone that replied. Elizabeth

I'm writing a debate speech in support of the Sioux nickname/logo, and I need to know how many logos are in the Engelstad Arena. I know I've seen a number somewhere, but I can't remember where... and I've been to http://theralph.com, it doesn't say anything there. If anyone would tell me it'd be greatly appreciated.
