Hockey cards from 2004-05 (Stafford, Matt Greene, Smaby, et al.) are gone.
-
The "Dream Team" and "Home of the Fighting Sioux" framed prints are now off the market.
-
Last of the geometrics and the Holy Cross jersey have been spoken for.
-
04-05 hockey cards are spoken for. I also found among my many possessions a Jeff Panzer bobblehead that was an Altru giveaway, if anyone is interested.
-
Only 1 geometric logo jersey remaining. White, size medium, CCM label ("fabrique au Canada," eh?). $15 takes it.

I am holding a yard sale next month but thought I would give my friends at siouxsports.com first crack at some of the Sioux stuff I've found all over the house and am looking to sell cheap. Here are some examples: Sioux jerseys: several in geometric logo, one with current logo (authentic w/ fight strap) and a retro repro with the old Blackhawk logo. Arena Dedication #23 jersey and--yes I'm letting it go--autographed Holy Cross jersey #33 signed by the Crusaders who whooped the Gophers at the West Regional. Also, the Thank You Ralph t-shirt. Nicely matted and framed, almost sofa-sized prints of "Home of the Fighting Sioux" (opening night at new Ralph) signed by artist and by Sioux greats and "Dream Team" ('87), numbered and signed by artist. This last one was rescued from someone's closet and had to be peeled off poster board by the nice folks at Michael's so it has a few bubbles in the print but otherwise looks pretty good. 2005 World Junior Tourney jersey (tournament logo) signed by Team USA. Team USA jersey from same event, unsigned. Tourney program. Some hockey cards from 2004-05 (Stafford, Matt Greene, Smaby, et al) Some Programs from 03-04 and 04-05 season. Programs from 99-00 championship season including from Final 5, West Regional & Frozen Four. Also GF Herald newspapers from that Frozen 4 and even the sports page from Boston Globe with headline " BC Frozen Out" above the infamous Mike Mottau dejected in the net picture followed by the subhead "North Dakota comes from behind to take title." Talk about burying the lead!! Football program UND v. NDSU Oct. 18, 2003. I even have the 2005 Breast Cancer Awareness calendar featuring the washboard abs of Brandon Bochenski (Mr. November). Anyway, don't mean to turn this into an infomercial but if you are interested, PM for specifics.

Sports Illustrated has done a separated-at-birth segment with NHL stars and celebrities. Some resemblances are down right spooky, others, not so much. See what you think: http://vault.sportsillustrated.cnn.com/vau.../1/32/index.htm

WDAZ reported tonight that the tribal judge denied injunctive relief and that the issue will remain on next week's ballot. Here's the story from the online Herald: http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/115304/

I was sorry to see the Beavers' dream fall short but they have every right to be proud of what their program accomplished this year. That's the difference between fairy tales and fair tale hockey seasons: the fairy tales always have a happy ending but the fairy tale seasons sometimes end too soon. Best of luck next year, Bemidji, and I hope you find a home in the WCHA.

I can't decide whether the story linked below is a calculated PR ploy by PETA or by Pet Shop Boys, the 80's group making a comeback, but the story should definitely be filed under "Nutty, but Not Surprising": http://www.cnn.com/2009/SHOWBIZ/Music/04/1...boys/index.html

Could it possibly be part of the geographical name "Bridgeport Sound," like "Puget Sound"? OTH, I've heard certain breeds of dogs referred to as "scent hounds" and "sight hounds," so idk.

Class act on and off the ice. Best of luck, Ryan. Got get 'em, Tiger!

Brad Schlossman has a nice recap of the positives of the 08-09 season, some high points so subtle as to have escaped the attention of some. Most positive of the positives, I think, is the evidence that the new Ralph has finally, decisively become home ice for the Sioux with all the advantages that status entails. I was one of the "whiners" but I called the complaint line only and did not send an email, grammatically incorrect or otherwise. You bet I complained!! The only option ESPN gave was to follow the hockey game on the net on ESPN360, which, once I went to the site, I learned wasn't available because my carrier is blackballed by the ESPN empire. Unlike those who weren't in ND, I did have Hennessey's call on the radio so I was only blind to the action, not deaf. And, what was the deal with that lacrosse game anyway--9-9 at the end of regulation (total of 18 goals scored!!) and neither team puts one in the net (one that counts) until the 7th friggin' OT? Would it have killed ESPN to split the screen and, of course, put the lax game in the smaller box with no sound!!? I recognize that ever since the "Heidi Game"* (Oakland Raiders stage tremendous last minute comeback which most of the country misses after NBC switches to a broadcast of the show "Heidi"), all sports broadcasters are especially leery of leaving any game in its last minutes but, from my perspective, which is really the only one I care about, ESPN2 made the wrong call this time. *November 1968. Jets leading 32-29 with only 65 seconds left in the game. NBC decides the fat lady has sung and switches away to broadcast a movie, "Heidi." Raiders score 14 points, winning 43-32, in a fantastic finish no one sees.

Unfortunately, the Virginia-Maryland lacrosse game presented itself in the trappings of a major annoyance to those of us tuning in to see the Sioux-Wildcats regional. Not a great introduction to the sport for those of us still in the Dark Ages concerning it. Can we rise above that first disastrous impression? Probably.
