52-24 with a quarter left. Getting beaten up like this is the painful part of being the new kid in the subdivision

We're within 11 points, sounds like it's still a game...

Statement from Spirit Lake's Committee for Understanding and Respect: http://legacy.grandforksherald.com/pdfs/Sp...0Resolution.pdf

Just got text from Herald. Says " Spirit Lake passes resolution for 'perpetual' use of Fighting Sioux nickname." No update on Herald's website yet.

They'll listen to the games on radio and like it!!

"Seems" early because usually I am wringing my hands wondering when and if the tickets will ever arrive. This year, I hadn't yet gotten myself so worked up.

Read all about it: http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/133674/

...arrived in today's mail! Seems earlier than usual but no reason to complain about that. Can't wait for that puck to drop.

I just want to thank the Texas Tech fans who've posted on the board the last few weeks. They were polite and generous with their information and sincere in their appreciation of the effort our team gave theirs. You've set a good example for everyone to follow on how to be a good guest on opposing fan boards. Y'all come back any time. Best of luck with your remaining season.

Thanks for the replies. If all those pluses actually make it onto the Sioux side of the ledger book, that's great. $350k I guess is incentive enough. Ask me again in 5 years if I think the move to DI was wise and worth it. I hope I can say "yes" then. Nothing would make me happier than having been proven wrong in my initial assessment of the move.

Aw, the sweet smell of money! I hope it's worth it. That said, I'll be listening to the game, praying for a miracle win.

How much is the Sioux paycheck for playing Tech? Isn't there such a thing as negative exposure? What kind of excitement is generated by fans or would-be fans of the team losing by 60 or more points? How much of the audience leaves if it's 50-0 at the half? Not meaning to be a Debbie Downer here but I was one of the few alums who opined when asked in the survey that our non-hockey teams should continue at D-II level because it's better to be a big fish in a small pond.
-
Someone please articulate the upside to a 60+ point loss to even a far-superior team? I'm not seeing it.
-
Hmmm. Why do I get the impression that Tom Dennis and Mike Jacobs each wrote alternating paragraphs in this editorial?

An update from Standing Rock... http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/132143/

No, I am not taking a vow of poverty. I mean other than the one imposed by my paycheck. It's just that my house is too small. I have no place to display or even store all this stuff so if someone else can make better use of it, then that's all good. Just sold the two commemorative bottles of Coke.
-
I have sold the Blackhawks jersey and program.
-
Oh, the stuff a person accumulates! Just found two unopened bottles of Coke Classic, one commemorating the 2000 national championship and one commemorating the inaugural season of the new Ralph Engelstad Arena. Does anyone have any interest in these latest finds? Preferably someone local to avoid the risk of shipping mishaps.

2000 Frozen 4 program and championship poster are gone.
-
The Final 5 misprint poster has been sold. The Jeff Panzer bobblehead has been sold.
-
Make an offer. It's 4 pages, about 8 x 10. Has the celebratory photo w/ trophy taken by John Kjorstad (of Dakota Student?) at center ice at the Providence Civic Center on the cover, team photo taken at the old Ralph on the middle two pages, 2000 record on back cover. Edited to correct goofy mistake regarding location of 2000 Frozen Four

Just sold the black Nike jersey size 2T in current logo

I guess this is the second wave of memorabilia. Just found the following: Final 5 puck (think it's 2006-- the five were Sioux, Duluth, Wisconsin, St. Cloud & the Gophers) 2005-06 Faceoff program from 4-7-06 game Chicago Blackhawks v. Oilers (Bochenski played). I also have a red Chicago Blackhawks jersey I bought at that game 2006 West Regional Program 2006 Frozen Four program 2006 Final 5 program 2008 Frozen Four Program small poster of 2000 championship team 2007 Frozen Four program signed by Sioux team (everyone who was there at the post-tourney meet and greet back at the Ralph) 2007 giveaway posters from Frozen 4 and the skills challenge 2007 Hobey Baker award program 2006 Final 5 "MISPRINT" poster with the Sioux identified as "North Dakota State University." You remember the story. 2005 Frozen 4 giveaway poster 2 mini jerseys: white and black current Sioux logo package unopened 2 baby jerseys--one white that's silk screened with geometric logo; other black, current logo size 2T (Nike), very nice little jersey, tag still on it. I think at one time I was going to put these in shadow boxes... If you're interested PM me
