  1. Jones takes a cross-checking call. Let's go PK!
  2. Underway. Go Sioux!
  3. Smaby pre-game comments: Feeling good again after last weekend. Gaining some weight back, as I lost some. Stamina carried me through at the beginning of the games, but fatigue set in as the games went on. Goal for the year was to be in the top 3. A little out of reach now, but we would like to get home ice. What matters more at this time of the year is how we're playing as a team, rather than who we're playing. Clicking really well 5 on 5. PK doing okay. PP working at times. Showed character last weekend coming back from 2-0 to take a 3-2 lead in the beginning of the 3rd on Saturday night. Tech hasn't been swept since we swept them in December. That's on our mind. They solidly collapse around the net, so it will be tough to score. With Tech not being on the bottom, it will keep us more sharp. Not thinking of the weekend as a walk in the park. Cutting down on penalties is a big factor this weekend. Conner can score for Tech. Need to play smart and hard, and key on taking stupid penalties out of the way. Gained some confidence back at home, with some sweeps.
  4. Jamie Russell pre-game comments: Want to be playing our best hockey going into the first round of playoffs. Haven't had the best success against the Sioux, so that's important that we play well. North Dakota has such a good transition game, that if you make a mistake, they capitalize on it. Need to take care of the puck, and not give up any odd man rushes. Goaltending is typical of most freshman. Have some really good games, and other games that aren't so good. Need to get pucks to the net, and create traffic, to create dirty goals this weekend. Need to get some production from the PP. The rebound of this team shows great character. Resilient group, who works hard. We're young and make mistakes, but making good growth and progress.
  5. Hak's pre-game comments: Feel like we've been playing well the past month, and want to continue that this weekend. We can only control what we do on the ice. Feel like we've found that consistent level of play. Guys have confidence coming out of the locker room. Improved in every area of the game since the beginning of the year. Chemistry developing on all four lines. Both games in Houghton were close hockey games, despite the final score. Both were hard fought. MTU is a very good hockey team, and play with a lot of pride. Feel good about playing at home. Lack of success at the beginning of the year were due to a variety of things...with the biggest being we didn't play very well. Just have to win games. Want to be at home next weekend, but right now, we want to play well this weekend, and want to get two wins out of the weekend. Seniors weekend and want to win for those guys. Chris Conner is a dangerous player in any type of situation. Has skill and goal scoring ability. A dynamic guy that plays in the WCHA. Jonathan Toews has picked up his game. All freshman are doing very well. 8 of 9 goals last weekend were scored by freshman. Those guys are contributing in different ways. JPar starts in goal. Need him to be good.
  6. Pre-game show about to begin. Let's go Sioux!!!!
  7. Or he could just wear the "bro/mansseire".
  8. Stan Fishler feels that Zach Parise is the "X-factor" for the Devils, and needs to raise his game to fill in for the absence of Patrick Elias. Feels Zach plays with a lot of energy, and needs to add a few more goals to the scorecards. Lot of pressure for Zach. Let's hope the best for him.
  9. Someone must have complained or caught it, as it appears they fixed their mistake.
  10. Greene's really increased the intensity of his training program since leaving UND. Wow! Have to be ready for any kind of hit I guess!
  11. If I recall correctly (I moved so I no longer have my season tickets), season ticket holders get the first round of the playoffs in their ticket package. I imagine that they go on sale to the general public following confirmation that they will have home ice.
  12. I wasn't referring to attacks on Phil.
  13. And than, as Ed Belfour would say, we can "open up a can of whoop-a$$" on them!
  14. Or people could just give their opinions (one of the purposes of the board) and avoid verbal attacks on people.
  15. Kessel will most likely win this award, and I can't say he doesn't deserve it. He's a good player, and he's putting up the numbers as expected. Oshie is the hard nose player that everyone would love to have on their team, and has definitely earned all of his points. IMO, Toews is probably the most complete hockey player out of all three of these guys, with a truly gifted shot. As Phil Sykes once said, individual awards come as a result of great teams. Without the team, you most likely don't win the game. Kessel is playing on a great team, and will probably take home this award. Had Oshie or Toews been playing on a line with Bochenski and Parise, or Panzer and Lundbohm, it would probably go to one of those two. All three of these players are tremendously talented, and prove once again that the WCHA brings us the best players in the nation, for our viewing pleasure.
  16. Let's see, we say the ref called a lousy game, TH says the ref called a lousy game, DU announcers say the ref called a lousy game...whose the loser???
  17. Finley got the major tonight.
  18. It was really the only bad play he made all weekend, but it was an awful play. Something that turned the game around. He'll definitely make up for it in the future though.
  19. Hak post-game comments: Battled hard for first two periods. Cannot keep taking the five minute majors. Got the go ahead goal, and take a retaliation penalty, which snowballed everything else. Had chances in front of the net, but couldn't put the puck away. Can't do things that cost you games in the 3rd period, and we did that. Did well all weekend controlling the PP until the 3rd period tonight. TH: Jordy didn't look as sharp. DH: It was a heck of a shot, 11 seconds in the game. Felt good after the 2nd intermission. Had the PP at the beginning of the 3rd. Didn't score on it, and we didn't set the tone for the 3rd period, and we didn't do that. Needed the split this weekend to have the possibility to solidify home ice for next weekend. The way we lost this game is something we're going to have to deal with this, and put it behind us.
  20. With Curious George acting like his old monkey self.
  21. What do players say to backup goalies who didn't play, "Hey, good game that you didn't get to play in."
  22. Let's hope for the best in the PWR.
  23. 3 of the goals were rather soft too, so we can't even say it wasn't JPar's fault. Just a bad night.
  24. Five hole goal through Lee's legs.
