Prpich takes a tripping call. Let's go PK!
-
Fabian says his role now is to always be there for his teammates. If they need a kick in the butt one day, give them a kick in the butt. Hey Erik, I think they need a kick in the butt!
-
Fabian is GL's first intermission guest.
-
Sounds like the Mavs are playing a very physical game tonight, and it's paying off for them as they're leading in shots 14-7.

I think Kozek would have been more noticed this year with more ice time. I'm not blaming Hak at all for that. It's probably more due to the number of penalties the Sioux have taken, as well as the close games they've been in, which had a direct effect on Kozek's ice time. I've like this kid since the beginning of the season, and I know Dagies has noticed him more than once as well. It will be exciting to see what he can do if he gets moved to 3rd line, or is given a greater amount of ice time. I think he'll contribute a lot more in the near future.
-
Must admit though that he's not as bad as Vanek was in that area. Always loved to see him doing circles near the blue line while his other teammates worked their butts off in the defensive zone.

How does Jordan Parise compare to other great Sioux goalies?
Siouxdonyms replied to Sioux18's topic in Men's Hockey
The injury bug hit him hard in 97-98 (groin injury), which led to Goehring having the opportunity to play. Kollar was also there that year, but they weren't going to play him, as they wanted to preserve his redshirt status. When Schweitzer finally became healthy, I think Karl had solidified himself in the goaltender position, and Schweitzer chose to leave following the season. -

Not if he eclipses the amount of money that the "best" goaltender donated to the school. I think he was referring to Ralph being the "best" goaltender, because of the opportunities that he created for all of the other players to play for UND. -

It's a hard comparison to make in all reality. The goalies that you mentioned had great supporting casts in front of them. You mention Kvalevog, who had no supporting cast in front of him, was the workhorse for the team, playing the majority of games, facing a ton of shots, yet still seemed to be the difference in a lot of games. Do I think he's the best ever? No, but he definitely did a great job for what he had to work with. I personally think Karl G. was the best, but someone else is sure to disagree with me. JPar has saved the Sioux's bacon more than once this year, and a lot of times, he doesn't look very good doing it, but gets the job done. All the goalies that you mentioned were great goalies in their time at UND, but to name the best...well, you'll get a lot of different opinions. The more recent grads will stick with Karl. The older grads will most likely go with someone else. I did enjoy watching Kvalevog though. -
IMO, Toews is the best freshman in the WCHA at this time. The key words in that sentence being the last three words. What remains to be seen is if Jonnie has found his groove in college, and will continue to play the way he is playing, or if he's simply peaking right now. I personally think it's the first of those two, but players fluctuate all the time. However, the great players in the game always find a way to be noticed, even if they aren't peaking at the moment. They find a way to contribute to the team's effort, even if it's not on the scoreboard. Of the three players (Toews, Oshie, and Kessel), I think Oshie has been the most consistent player throughout the season, but hasn't always been able to find the back of the next, or figure in on scoring (like a lot of other Sioux players). He works his butt off every shift, and that is something that every Sioux fan, and many other fans have noticed about him. With that being said, I still think Toews is the most talented of the three players, with Kessel right behind him.

I can't believe they would choose Kessel over Mike Madonna!

Sounds like the Sioux played a great game which is great to hear. Unfortunately, I was working with middle school kids all night. Need a great week of practice to prepare for Mankato, as they'll be ready for us. No one to blame but ourselves though, if we don't get it done. However, I think our team is coming together, and we'll have a good showing next weekend. Tough loss with Fabian going down. As already stated, he is one of the players who shows on every shift, and works his butt off until he goes back over the bench. Guys will need to step it up to fill his spot. Way to go boys! Sweep!!!

Pre-game show on. Let's go Sioux!!!!

Toews post-game comments: Had to play with desparation tonight. Weren't too happy with our 1st period. Talked about it at intermission, realized what we had to do, and carried it out for the rest of the game. Everything was going in for us tonight. Nerves eased for us as game went along. Take the goals as they come. Doesn't matter how we score them, as long as we get on the board. Feel like I'm in my groove. Feel like I've found a good spot on my line. The weekend off after CC helped us all to take some time to breathe. Been natural for us to play together (Stafford). Good buddies off the ice, which helps too. Need to put this game behind us, and concentrate on tomorrow night.

Hak's post-game comments: Felt like we started a little soft, especially the first 10 minutes. Weren't doing a lot of the little things. Recovered well in the 2nd and 3rd periods. Created great opportunities in those last two periods. Wanted to attack with speed and attack down low. Felt like we could role 4 lines and wear them down, and think that happened in the 3rd tonight. Smaby laid a big hit to set the tone early in the game. Did it again later in the period. Porter hit in the 2nd, though he took a penalty on it. Wore them down. Toews continues with his great play. That entire line showed great chemistry. They're working hard to create opportunities. Guys are behind Kaip. Probably want him to get his first goal more than he does. He's working hard, and just needs to keep with it, and it will come. Destiny is in our own hands. Like the way we played tonight. Expect us to come out real hungry tomorrow night.
-
Good game for the Sioux, and a good beginning to the weekend. Sioux did what Smaby commented on at the pre-game show, and took no stupid penalties. Let's keep it up tomorrow night boys!
-
Sounds like even up penalties, as a Husky takes a stupid slashing penalty on Smaby, after the Sioux had taken a penalty.
-
Stafford from Zajac!!!!!! 4-0!
-
Fans leaving early?? What in the heck is wrong with people?
-
Teslak has really kept Tech in the game with some remarkable saves. JPar has been there when we needed him.
-
Do you have a life outside of your cubicle? You always seem to be there.
-
CC scores to go up, 2-0.
-
Duncan!!!!!!! From Staff and Toews!
-
Think Kallay ever points up to the rafters to the '97 banner, and tells his bench, that's my team!
