  1. That's how I read it the first time!
  2. That was just a Monday night thing, though I don't know how quickly they'll want him to come back.
  3. Don't look now Anaheim haters, but Alfredsson just fires a puck at Scott Neidermayer with 5 seconds left in the 2nd period. Not just a little wrist shot either but a slap shot as hard as he could. Could see his body shift to take aim on him. Should equal a one-game suspension, but probably won't as Neidermayer wasn't injured.
  4. Agree Goon. It's the Stanley Cup Finals. It's a hard fought battle. Anaheim was more physical the first two games which resulted in two wins. Ottawa came back with a very physical game on Saturday night, which resulted in good things for them. Was Pronger's hit cheap? Yeah, but I also saw some cheap hits by Ottawa. Emery got away with some pretty cheap stick work on Selanne, which should have resulted in a penalty. Selanne wasn't in the crease, but rather 5 feet outside of it. This type of game is the precise reason I didn't think New Jersey could win the Stanley Cup, way back when the playoffs started. To win the Cup, you have to be a good hockey team. I also feel you have to be able to play well against a very physical team, which often means you have to be just as physical. In all reality, I'm not a big fan of either of these teams, but I predicted back in January that Anaheim would be in the Cup Finals because of their skill and their physical play. Where I don't care who wins the Cup, I must admit they are very entertaining games to watch, and the physical play is a large part of the reason why I love this game and believe that the Cup is the most difficult trophy to win in all professional sports.
  5. Brad's blog stated yesterday that he'll make his decision by the end of the week. That's the last I've heard of it.
  6. Nah, he just wants to be like Prp
  7. Here's the link to watch the press conference. Toews Press Conference
  8. I'm not Redwing, but I'll rank them in my eyes. Chorney, Bina, Lee, Genoway, Finley, Jones, and Radke. I used total points, +/-, and my personal opinion, with my personal opinion holding the most weight in making my decisions. There are certain games when I think certain players played better than others, but I tried to think of the overall season. I'll also mention that I like everyone of our defensemen right now and don't think any of them are lousy, regardless of how I ranked them.
  9. Offensively, not a chance.
  10. He's also on the most ideal line. The top line is getting the other teams top defensive line. Buffalo's top defensive line is taking the other team's top offensive line. Buffalo's 2nd line is a lot more potent offensively than most other teams 2nd line, and are usually playing against the other teams 2nd line. He's definitely got offensive talent. No one argues that. However, when you're on a line that requires the other team to play defense the majority of the shift, it limits the amount of time he has to play defense.
  11. Vanek's lack of defensive play just had a big part to do with Ottawa's 2nd goal of the game. Buffalo letting Game 4 slip away after taking a 3-0 lead.
  12. Or you could just have a messed up swinging. My golfing buddy in GF broke all but 3 of his clubs because of a messed up swing. It was pretty amusing watching him try to chip a 50 foot shot with an 8 iron. I could have lent him my PW, but he probably would have broken it!!!
  13. They may be thinking that with the situation they're in, they need playoff experience to get them out of their rut. However, look where that's got them so far. If I'm a coach down 0-2, I'm going to make some changes. Staff's played good in the playoffs, so I'd give him a go.
  14. Not necessarily. Most people would say the Sioux had a stronger group of players in '98 and '99, yet never reached the championship game. They did reach it in 2000 and 2001. Yes, you need talent, but you also need players to accept their roles and plain and simple, play the best hockey of the year at tournament time, and puck luck is needed as well. Our top players in 2000, IMO, were Bayda, Commodore, Goehring, Goren, Lundbohm, Panzer, and Roche. Ulmer stepped it up in the tournament. Of those, Commodore is the only one who has played consistently in the NHL. Everyone on those two teams accepted their roles, regardless of what it was. We've had a lot of championship caliber players since 2000, but have not yet been able to capture another championship for whatever reason.
  15. Brad Malone with a goal in the Clark Cup Championship game for Sioux Falls. SF leads 2-0, midway through 2nd.
  16. I'm sure his demeanor is basically, "Cool, another gold." Congrats to Toews, Commodore and all of Team Canada.
  17. Just wanted to wish all the mother's a Happy Mother's Day!!! Without our hockey mom's, we wouldn't have Fighting Sioux hockey, or other hockey to follow religiously! Thanks for all you do!!!! Hope you all have a great day!
  18. "BALD BULL!" Ah, youth!
  19. We used to have tournaments on that game when I was in the Navy. Definitely got pretty loud, but they never made us walk the plank or anything.
  20. I think this is a great photo, and that it actually shows the desire Zach has to win every hockey game. It was stated at the beginning of Game 5 that it was obvious by Zach's demeanor that the Game 4 loss was hard on him. Good to see that after his 2nd year in the NHL, hiw will to win is still as high as ever.
  21. I guess "Sioux" thinks Commodore is an American "wanna-be." In regards to Parise being added to the team. I think it's a great addition. The roster's for this tournament are put together to haphazardly, as it basically goes with the NHL's playoff elimination, so teams are unable to form a lot of chemistry. Zach has a lot of heart, and has good history with USA hockey, so he should still be able to add to the team's success.
  22. I think he gets better with age. Not sure if that's my age or his, but when he first started commentating, I couldn't stand him. Now I think it's very entertaining to watch him. May take him 5 minutes to get out one thought, but that's part of the amusement.
  23. That line has been getting better chances than the EGG line tonight. Doesn't really matter which line is out there right now. Devils are playing like they're afraid of Ottawa. They have no edge to their game.
  24. These guys are all great hockey players, but the rule changes in the "new" NHL is the primary reason for the success of these guys. Where I'd like to say Zach would have succeeded regardless, there is no way he'd be standing in front of the net so easily with the old rules. As far as the original comment about college players leave too early, and as much as I want Toews to stay for one more year, I don't think he is in the ranks of the players who were in the mind of the guy who made this comment. Toews is ready for the next level. Yes, he still has a lot to learn, but the stuff he has to learn, he has to learn at the next level.
