  1. Meanwhile.... ....and this after the Senate approved a $2 trillion stimulus package stacked full of needless pork.
  2. Trump was born with a billion dollar spoon sticking out of his mouth, having the luxury of never being held accountable for his mistakes. It's not brain surgery to understand why he has difficulty admitting mistakes and throws temper-tantrums when criticized. How the ‘common working man’ finds commonality with him, I’ll never understand. Dave Chappelle articulates this fantastically.
  3. Finally some common sense coming from the White House. I've been advocating for this since day 1. Hopefully we start slowly implementing this strategy predicated upon more testing being made available coupled with our medical infrastructure being adequately equipped to deal with possible adverse ramifications. https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/26/politics/trump-governors-guidlines/index.html
  4. Yes, Trump is crazy for suggesting as such. And so is De Blasio for hoping NYC schools will open in a month. In fact, suggesting as such is down-right dangerous given the current situation.. De Blaio's buffoonery doesn't justify Trump's buffoonery. The two aren't mutually exclusive. Idiots, both of them.
  5. There's a difference between rational hope and ill-thought-out and rash thinking. Luckily we have adults in the building, both Republican and Democrat: https://thehill.com/homenews/state-watch/489487-states-reject-trump-calls-for-reopening-economy Err..well, apart from Mississippi. But if people want freakin' Mississippi as the standard for how this country deals with covid19, I suppose they're entitled to their opinion. https://www.businessinsider.com/coronavirus-mississippi-governor-executive-order-most-businesses-essential-2020-3
  6. This is fantastic. A win-win for all involved. Hockey equipment maker Bauer shifts to medical shields https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nhl/2020/03/26/hockey-equipment-maker-bauer-shifts-to-medical-shields/111465344/
  7. If we eliminate social distancing and let the virus ‘run its course’, it’s imperative this country’s medical infrastructure be adequately equipped to deal with the inevitable surge of cases. Not doing as such WILL result in an absolute shitshow that will spill into every other aspect of people’s lives. So here we are. We knew this was coming, yet this nation's hospitals are woefully ill-equipped and unprepared, even for something as simple as basic testing. And Trump is requesting all of America be open by Easter? I understand the need to get America working again, but thank god he cannot override state and local decisions. Yea this is America, not Russia.
  8. The Defense Production Act needs to be invoked in full, like now. This country’s corporate overlords can go pound sand. This is embarrassing: The U.S. State Department is instructing its top diplomats to press governments and businesses in Eastern Europe and Eurasia to ramp up exports and production of life-saving medical equipment and protective gear for the United States, part of a desperate diplomatic campaign to fill major shortcomings in the U.S. medical system amid a rising death toll from the new coronavirus. https://foreignpolicy.com/2020/03/23/us-medical-supplies-coronavirus-appeal-aid/ https://www.cnn.com/2020/03/24/politics/trump-seeks-allies-coronavirus-help/index.html https://en.yna.co.kr/view/AEN20200324011253315?section=national/diplomacy
  9. This thread has officially entered the twilight zone.
  10. Excuse me while I put on my John Lennon Instant Karma record.
  11. Just watch, in a few weeks half of the southern states will be poisoned and the other half is badly addicted.
  12. In addition to the previously noted H1N1 sources, here's a sample of Fox News' coverage of Ebola compared to Covid-19. Fox is by far the most watched news outlet in the country. It sits directly on top of the steaming pile that is American MSM. Is Trump treated fairly? Not at all. But, again, it comes with the territory.
  13. "It's the liberal media!!!", "They're politically out to get Trump!!!". Give it a rest already man. Getting torn to shreds by the media is part of the job. Every president had to deal with it, Why people fail to realize Trump's thin skin isn't a huge detriment, I'll never understand. He needs to STFU, quit complaining like a little girl every time he opens his mouth, and do his job like a man. Spending copious amounts of his energy and time blaming the media for everything is childish and detracts from his job, especially in a time like this.....which gets to my original point of why he's turned everything into a freakin' circus.
  14. It's been reported that 2 Ottawa Senators have it, 6 more with symptoms. Me thinks this is might put an end to the NHL's season.
  15. That's quite the deflection, seeing as Biden's shortcomings have nothing to do with Trump's current mishandling of the situation. Either way, I'd hope most adults with at least an ounce of intellect (on both sides) would be displeased of such unprofessional behavior, regardless of who acts as such.
  16. Nah, Dr. Fauci is likely tired of Trump's petulance and the circus atmosphere. Most grown adults roll their eyes at things that resemble a WWE event; which is what most of what Trump touches devolves into. His recent press conferences = ¼ information for the public, ½ Trump ceaselessly praising himself, ¼ bickering with the media. Then again, I can understand why his hardened-supporters would find that attractive. It’s not exactly Hulk Hogan off the top rope, but it’s the next best thing I suppose.
  17. I think Trump desperately wants to appear in charge of the situation but lacks the refinement to do so, which sometimes leads to him to overcompensate and misrepresent facts. As a result the experts in the room are forced to step in and say "whoa, let's back the jeep up a second here". There's a considerable difference between saying “We're making progress based on the scientific info that's coming out" as opposed to “We’re super close to finding a cure and it will be available shortly”, or "It's been approved!".
  18. I just assumed, because you missed nearly a week of work, you must have been significantly ill and were refusing to go in for reasons. I’m an old fart though, I come from an era where you’d need to be almost half-dead to miss 4 straight days in a row. Nonetheless, its good to hear you’re doing well. Stay healthy.
  19. There’s a catastrophic overall shortage, but that doesn't mean it extends to your particular area Call your doctor and find out. Plus its not like you have the sniffles. You said you've been too sick with the flu to go to work for 4 days. Most people see the doctor if they’re out of work that long, covid or not. I mean there are studies now that suggest even digestive issues can be the first sign of covid. A significant reason for testing is to keep everyone safe; not just yourself. If you have the means, you’re a prime candidate. Stay safe and get well soon!
  20. If you have the means to do it, why wouldn't you?
  21. Yes that’s called common sense, unfortunately a large segment of Americans don't exhibit as such.
  22. ...or the Fox News ‘reporters’ that continually push an agenda. All our media is rubbish. Outlets are political echo chambers that prey on people’s biases and preconceived worldviews as a means of lining the pockets of its owners and investors. We’re a long way from Cronkite.
  23. There's no way it will be Italy-level nationally. Seems like Italy was the victim of a 'perfect storm' of factors (some controllable, some not). But who knows. I wouldn't rule out pockets of this country getting hit extremely hard. Hope I'm wrong though.
  24. Christ almighty, Italy is getting wrecked. Nearly 500 dead today; 1,537 the last 4 days. That's ridiculous for a country their size. From what I'm understanding, it's double the rate of the next highest cause of death over there.
