  1. The same ****s Lake farmers have to take a large chunk of the responsibility. Wetlands on the drift prairie historically held much of the spring run-off, but, through the 50's, 60's and 70's, most (or all in much of the DL watershedl) have been drained with various large ditches and organized drainage projects that dump huge amounts of water into the *****s Lake basin, water that once was held up by a vast number of wetlands. Asking someone else, in this case another country, to accept this drained water is a bit over the top IMO. Can't believe the name of the town is being stripped in this forum. Glad we can still spell out Sioux.
  2. And just how old is this lab? Just picked up a black pup over that way and training has started for me also.
  3. We need the skippy alert light, I think.
  4. How soon we forget
  5. Didn't mean to reply to your post (wrong reply button), just trying to explain what I thought I said in response to Cardinal's "skills" comparison in international play. No doubt the players experienced in international play have an advantage going into the evaluation camp.
  6. My point was not that Mueller isn't more experienced in international play, but, until Oshie has been in international play, comparing skills when playing there is not possible. I haven't seen either, so I'll make no argument as to who is better. The team will be picked based at least in part on how the players perform at evaluation camp. I would guess given Oshie's lack of previous international experience, he'll have to impress the coaches more than others having international experience, in order to make the team.
  7. We'll accept experience in international competition, but a skill comparison in international competition is yet to be determined.
  8. I believe Czcheslovakia were all checks, as were the Slovaks. Could have been half-checks though.
  9. I believe the players that make the WJC from the Sioux will miss the home Harvard series (Dec. 29-30) and possibly the road UAA series (Jan. 6-7). Does anyone know when the U18 tourney is, since Toews is also potentially gone during that time?
  10. Phily now up 3-0 on Chicago in the AHL finals. The addition of Jeff Carter and Mike Richards, MJ players added to the Philly roster following the end of their MJ playoff season, have made a huge difference for the Philly offense (both played a large part in Canada's World Junior Gold last Dec/Jan). At any rate, in this interview with Carter, he mentions Roche as one of the Wolves players that create problems for Philly.
  11. Yet another example of the flexibility in the use of "vaht"
  12. You may have to duck after admitting that here; Although knocking off the Gophers lessens the impact of losing in the championship game. And beating BU and BC in Beanpot II wasn't half bad either. Nice pics
  13. Unid'ed Sioux April 9 ?= Fylling ?=? ?,?=Massen, Fabian ?,?=Zajac, Spirko ?=Fabian
  14. Wow, six figures when you're 16. Hard to pass that up. Wouldn't take me long to choose between HE and 6 figures.
  15. THe story does say this: Sounds like message board speculation was based on what Esposito said. He was a junior last year, however, and is almost a full year younger than Toews, who as we know accelerated to finish HS and head to GF this fall, at 17. I don't think Esposito is entering college this fall at 16, so, I'd guess Quebec will have a decent shot at getting him to play MJ, unless he plans to spend another year at SSM. Linemate Chay Genoway is an '86 birthday, has apparently graduated from HS, and as far as I know hasn't committed? anywhere?
  16. Schneekloth certainly pulled more Harrington's (on sparky) then I care to remember, althought the OT whiff in the national championship game is hard to forget.
  17. And I've always thought it was the Sioux.
  18. After the last two performances vs. the Sioux, they need more than a savior. Beyond that, it's message board rhetoric. What goes around, comes around.
  19. Good luck to Eades, Berry, and Hak in landing this guy. Hope to see him in green in a couple years (or sooner).
  20. "Little Debbie to Visit the John"
  21. The goaltending has been mentioned, but there's nothing harder on any defense than losing confidence in your goal tending. THe 01 team lost a whole lot of confidence (as did the tenders). It made for many poor outlet passes when the defense was overly worried about giving up shots from anywhere. Hopefully Parise and Lamoureux can provide the goal tending a young D needs.

I think in more recent years early defections have occured throughout college hockey. I know back when Gino started and built those good teams he told recruits to come and give the Sioux a good year or two, and he'd be happy to wish them well when they moved on the pro hockey. Blais seemed to continue this. The difference recently is, that almost all early defections from the Sioux came after an NCAA championship. That doesn't seem to make a difference any longer. Maybe it just happened that those good Sioux teams of the past finished with a championship, where recently they've fallen short.
  23. Roche has scored to put Chicago up 2-0 after two. Chicago continues to outplay Manitoba. The Kesler, Heerema, Goren line are not ting as they did in previous series. The penalty list in game two is getting extremely long.
  24. Guess I'll have to wait to see him play some day in the NHL, hopefully, He missed both series I was at last season (CC and Denver). Bummed that the Sioux couldn't get one more good full year out of Brady. Sioux get even a bit more dependent on freshmen next year. Swiss don't normally bring real good teams to international competition. Have to wonder if this is a good developmental step up from college hockey or just good $. Good luck Brady.
