I know I'm a homer, BUT... Smaby hits hard, but I don't think I've ever seen hit hit cheap. He really is a world class talent.

Sparky collected another jock for his collection. Made a DU d-man look silly at center ice. It's nice to see that the AR actually had the balls to call DU patented pick play at the end of the second. The have been commiting interference penalties off face offs for a long time. This was a good and correct call. WOW did Smaby tattoo someone behind the net. Anderson had no control or consistancy in that game. Gwoz SHOULD be serving a suspension for not leaving the ice. Bad calls both ways. Prpich should have had 5 and the gate, Fabian shouldn't have. Paukovich should have had at least a double minor for his take down of Oshie, after Oshie undressed him in front of the net. Oshie looked like the stronger player. Wow, now this was the freshman class I was hoping to see. Fetch, give Lee props after a great game. My highlight of the night was Paukovich coming down the middle at Parise and Sparky checking him off the puck and denying a shot. Not pretty, but effective. Also an absolutely brillient play by Finley on the 2 on 1. Jones was solid. Nice agressive forecheck the whole night. Lets go for the repeat tonight, DU will be fired up, but so should the Sioux. If this game is out of hand either way, look for the gloves to drop since we have tech next week.

These are not mutually exclusive... BTW, did anyone catch if Gwoz is trying to keep Paukovich off the ice when Smaby is there. I know he did in the F4 last year. I still remember fondly what Smaby did everytime he got near Paukovich at the end of the F5 game. When those two are on the ice together, Smaby crush Paukovich like Hulk crush car...

There where alot of scouts that have seen what toews has done the last few weeks, especially last night. His second goal last night was something you would expect from an NHL vet, not a 17 year old. For the second game in a row he misses the hat trick, by the inside of a pipe. Can this guy shoo high, or what? Oh yeah, and he may not even be the best freshman on the team...

Wow, Oshie is an animal. What he did to Paukovich was a thing of beauty. And that break away after fighting through the stick work. WOW... He is the most tenacious forechecker I have seen in some time. I is going to be awesome with a couple more years of skating and stickhandling.

Cheap: Yes... Am I upset: No He actually picked a good time to do it, which is not usually his strength. I might care about paukovich, when he misses a season. Until then, keep it up.

Cross out Lee and add Commadore, Smaby, Green, Hale, Roach because they all went through this. In part this is what so impresses me with Finley as he continues to look OK. Also freshman D in the WCHA typically drop in weight significanlty their freshman year and sometime lose the jump. I definately think Lee looks almost frail. A year of weight training and experince usually fixes this. I couldn't be happier to have Lee, but I realize that he has struggled some.
