  1. I'm sure it's a little bit of both. It appears he was a pretty good FCS recruit given he originally was going to walk on to a P5 school and then went to EWU. *After reading Tom's article it appears the injury his Senior year hurt his recruiting. This would be my guess as well. It's important when you look at EWU's QB depth chart that it's very young. Based off reading their roster there were 3 players going for the starting job at camp, the returning starter (SR) and two Sophomores (one being Gubrud). That's a tough depth chart to crack. Can't wait for Spring Ball, we need him to be the solid #2 we haven't had the last couple of years. I did like his scrambling ability I saw on his Hudl film.
  2. I've said it before and have kind of been a broken record, but I thought this was the most important piece to this years recruiting class (are a couple others that are close). It's great that (1) Able to enroll this January (2) Is a Sophomore. Looks to have a good arm and ok wheels. Is it fair to assume that the coaches think this guy will be the solid #2 going into next year?
  3. From Tom Miller: "There are some strong reports on the redshirting freshmen hogs, especially guard Ryan Tobin, tackle Noah Mortel and center/guard Nathan Nguon"
  4. '14 HS graduate, looks like he was on the Sac State '15 roster, where he most likely was a RS. If he can earn his was on the 2-deep chart this would be a very nice pick up. http://www.hornetsports.com/sports/fball/2014-15/bios/stewart_tamas_ex63
  5. Agreed. Each year it's the same story in FBS and FCS, the high powered throwing offenses can look really good in the regular season, but come playoffs, it's the team that runs the ball and plays defense that comes out on top. Good news for us that Bubba knows this and that's his strategy, I just can't figure out why more teams don't do it in the Big Sky. When's the last time a high powered offense with a suspect defense has won it all?
  6. 50 yard run to start the drive, then a 20 yard TD pass on 3rd down
  7. Never been so happy to be wrong!!!
  8. Needed that 4th down stop.
  9. One stop JMU!
  10. One drive JMU!
  11. He doesn't catch it if 44 doesn't knock it into him.
  12. Offensively if I was JMU, I'd double whoever 68 is guarding with the RB and throw it every down.
  13. Why go for this? Try to pin them down deep.
  14. 68 is a complete dumpster fire
  15. This game is officially over.
  16. 17-7 JMU
  17. I want us to be wrong so bad, but I'd bet on this too.
  18. JMU has a very good offense, but left a lot of crucial points on the board. Only a 10 point game and NDSU showed on the last drive they can also move down the field with little resistance. Offense vs offense in the 2nd half. Which ever defense steps up wins.
  19. Yep, this drive, plus they get the ball in the second half. Next thing we know it's 17-14 early in the 3rd.
  20. Kick the ball out of bounce on this kickoff JMU.
  21. This. 10-0 as NDSU proved last week is nothing. Need to get points when given the opportunity.
  22. Got to score TDs, 3 great drives in scoring territory, only 10 points.
  23. Have a game 68 for JMU, I've never seen an individual player be more penalized.
  24. SFI does a great job of breaking down current recruiting class: https://siouxfb.areavoices.com/2016/12/16/und-class-of-2017-update/ They also answered the question I've been asking about size of this class. They said between 20 and 22.
