  1. per brads blog, good tidbits http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/ Yesterday, we discussed all of the Minneapolis metro players that have been choosing UND lately. Here is a stat that might be interesting to you, though. This season's UND squad will have more North Dakota-born players (four) than Minnesota-born players (three). The North Dakotans are Robbie Bina, Jake Marto, Phil Lamoureux and Aaron Walski. The Minnesotans are Joe Finley, Michael Forney and Chris VandeVelde. T.J. Oshie's hometown is listed as Warroad and Taylor Chorney's as Hastings, but Oshie was born in Washington and Chorney in Thunder Bay, Ont. The last time this happened, I believe, was the 2004-05 national runner-up team, which featured six North Dakota-born players and five Minnesota-born players.
  2. thanks, oh yeah, they are 10 times harder on themselves for sure! they actually know how hard it is to do what they do and expect so much
  3. didnt the oshie have a broken hand or something like that, thats a big factor, just pointing that out, nice post
  4. this will work
  5. lets see, ill go with belvedere no......wait, ill go with the gray goose please hes going to UND or Minny......just a hunch, also i though we have already see that article here somewhere. is it new or old? i believe he has a minny connection maybe as his dad went there or something. whoever gets him will benefit!!
  6. its just reality, like it or not that draft status is held over a players head no matter what. im not saying its right or wrong but thats how it is. hull ect..... are exceptions of course and that will happen from time to time but usually when you take a player in the first round very high he is a cant miss guy, are there exceptions to that? of course but the scouts know what they are doing for the most part. i dont know if brian will live up to his draft pick status or not in with ottawa, that we will know 4-5 years down the road really. did he live up to the hype at UND? thats for every fan to decide for themselves. i have no problem with fans not liking specific players or disliking players, to each its own....will be interesting to see if lee and blood are playing side by side in 6 years.
  7. duhh, easy, they were the only team who had to deal with the elavation being a mile high
  8. and i was thinking offensive, both sides of the spectrum
  9. very true, the difference is the sioux havent hit the cities area like this in a while with this success excluding shattuck which had many cities players but is its own animal really....as a good number of the shattuck kids being from the cities
  10. or a player thats guarenteed 30 + points
  11. i agree on the #9 pick part but i also think tats ALL on attawa for taking him there, he had no control of that as we all know, none
  12. i never saw that written much, stupid really if someone ever said that, i think it may take him a year or longer to reach the show as it did matt smaby and others that have left early. matt greene, matt jones ect...
  13. hf ottawa top prospects http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/9851...pects_fall2007/ 20. (NR) Ben Blood, D Age: 18 Acquired: 4th round, 120th overall, 2007 At just 18 years of age, Ben Blood already possesses the size to be an NHL defenseman. Now he needs to grow into his frame and develop his natural skills. Considered a safe pick by the Senators, who took him with their fourth selection in 2007, Blood is a very promising prospect. He spent the past two seasons at Shattuck-St. Mary's High School, renowned for developing NHL talent. In 2006-07, he finished the season with 36 points and 144 penalty minutes in 63 games. Blood caught the eye of many scouts with his strong play in all zones and ability to play in any situation. He is an excellent power-play quarterback, possessing a heavy accurate slap shot as well as a quick release wrist shot. Blood is committed to play at the University of North Dakota in 2007-08, another school renowned for producing talented hockey players. Though he is somewhat of a long-term project, Blood's size and upside make him one of Ottawa's better defense prospects. At the 2007 development camp, Blood played extremely well, showcasing his potential. NHL Upside: second or third pair, two-way defenseman, power-play quarterback
  14. ottawa hf prospect list http://www.hockeysfuture.com/articles/9851...pects_fall2007/ 3. (2) Brian Lee, D Age: 20 Acquired: 1st round, 9th overall, 2005 Thanks to the lockout year and weighted lottery system, the Senators landed the ninth pick in 2005 and selected Lee. Considered an offensive-minded defenseman, Lee spent the 2006-07 season focusing on improving his defensive game as well as adding some muscle. He did just that in his third year at the University of North Dakota, shaking off concerns that his game is limited to finesse. Lee played a much more all-around game and even finished second on the team with 67 penalty minutes. He led the Fighting Sioux to a third-place finish and ended the season with two goals, 24 assists and 26 points in 38 games. For a third straight year, Lee was also part Team USA at the WJCs, this time helping the squad to a bronze medal, though he played a more limited role. Lee's size and style of play are well suited for the NHL. He can play in all situations, moves the puck well, and is adept at joining the rush. Having signed an entry-level contract with Ottawa recently, Lee will forego his remaining years with North Dakota and turn pro. He will attend camp and likely start the season as one of Binghamton's top defenders. NHL Upside: first or second pair, puck-moving defenseman, power-play specialist
