back on topic from brad http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/ As posted on the Herald site, coach Dave Hakstol said today that Joe Finley and Chay Genoway are doubtful this weekend. Brad Miller will play on defense again. And speaking of Miller, later I'll post a link to his Brad Miller Time weekly show. This week's topic: Freshmen Gone Wild. I'm a little scared. Back on topic, Hakstol said that there was a player who was left back in Grand Forks with an injury last weekend, so Brad Malone was not a healthy scratch. He should be ready to go this weekend. Same with Zach Jones. Hakstol did mention that the team needs to get healthy. At this point, I'd say that's an understatement. ............................... so miller fills in again with the other 5 d men as it sounds like genoway and finley will be out. good to hear jones is good to go along with blood will be interesting to see who plays this weekend forward wise. only 2 forwards sit with miller on the blueline and malone being healthy. maybe davidson and lamouruex sit friday then go from there? who knows. lets drop 5 goals a nihgt on these guys and put them away early

i think the wcha will be very involved as always in the top 14 in the pairwise in the end. the wcha didnt start great vs strong non conference teams this year but there is still many holiday and other non conference match ups to make up for those early game losses
-
i like the fact that we dropped 7 total goals on one of the nations best goalies and teams and saturday battled despite a M.A.S.H unit on defense including flying in a player last minute and having a true forward on the blueline. i like the fact toews got in the scoring column and gregoire continues to impress. i think we do have a goalie that has faced damn good teams already and will only get better and better with experience. lets kick the crap out of the sea puppies and add 4 points to the wcha standings oh.....hextall as well.blood has some nice hits in cc.i really really like this freshman class and how they are playing
-
sure does. its the ONLY poll that means anything and start february it is great to follow. the other polls are good for message board talk and water cooler talk no doubt. minny has started strong. they have a hell of a goalie. cc and du are strong as well. cant wait until the sioux play du and and umtc

while cichy was busy being named the mvp of the juniot A challenge and kristo was busy being named the title games best player along with canada west andrew macwilliam getting all tourney team there were a few future sioux playing in the USHL USHL FINK, friday 1-1=2 points (+2) in win, 2 shots in saturday loss GLEASON, played in friday loss - no stats, -1 in saturday loss BRUNETEAU, friday 1-2=3 points (+1) in loss, -2 in saturday loss 2 pim -
this is going to happen one of these years so get prepared. oh well. things change with time. nothing ever stays the same in life. the scheduling is already unbalanced so it will just get a little more different. bsu is a wcha caliber team already talent wise. they would be a lower end team but have proven they can beat wcha teams yearly. thats besides the point, i know. i have no problem with change and especially that its going to happen if we like it or not
-
cant remember exact play was it was the first series of the year vs boston and northeastern. not sure which game it happened in. im sure someone here can answer that for you get healthy D core !!

sweet cichy got tourney MVP, thats great. kristo also had a hell of a tourney as he was named best player of the title game macwilliam also named to all tourney team for canada west http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/ observation of the all tourney team and future wcha players, wow F -- Mike Cichy, UND recruit (USA) F -- Craig Smith, Wisconsin recruit (USA) F -- Jayden Schwartz, Colorado College recruit (CW) D -- Andrew MacWilliam, UND recruit (CW) D -- Matt Donovan, Denver recruit (USA) G -- Mike Lee, St. Cloud State recruit (USA) MVP -- Cichy -
i agree on joe. he logs tons of ice time to begin with and is missed badly with his leadership. i also hope genoway and jones are good to go. those 3 together can change the dynamic of a D core easily if all out there playing. sioux sweep
-
before this weekend i had negative thoughts as well. we still are 2 games under .500 and were before the start of the weekend but i also like what i saw this weekend as a whole. the problem is our D corps are very banged up and they havent been great to begin with yet. im calling a sweep but we cant have a mash unit on D with forward replacement vs any WCHA team. get healthy SIOUX!! sioux sweep
-
Not a bad weekend in the springs for the Sioux. A split was needed and the Sioux showed good signs scoring 7 goals vs a great goalie and team. The Sioux are banged up on the blueline overall with 4 players which proably didn't help on Saturday in the loss to CC. Get the sweep vs the Seawolves at the ralph and get the overall record to .500 and add 4 points to the WCHA standings. UAA comes off a loss on friday and tie to MSU in Anchorage this last weekend. Get healthy as possible and get these 4 all important points. GO SIOUX LAST SEASON SERIES - Sioux swept only series at home winning each game by the score of 3-1 WCHA STANDINGS Overall Record: 3-5-0 WCHA: 3-3-0, 6 points Home: 1-1-0
-
he is damn good. he and bachman are right up there together and i hope they both decide to turn pro after this season
-
the good thing about this weekend is the sioux scored goals and showed signs of a balanced attack to a degree vs the best goalie maybe in the nation. they played tonight banged up on the blueline with blood (cut), jones (broken hand i believe) and finley out and fienhage flying in last minute for tonights game. cc is a damn good team and a split is what most thought would be realistic and that happened. of course when the friday win happens then you want a sweep but it didnt happen. lets hope the sioux have enough d men to fill 6 spots coming up and if not then miller will stay there im assuming. getting 7 goals on bachman during a weekend doesnt happen often at all but when you do get 4 its tough to see a team lose. lets get that sweep next weekend vs the sea puppies
-
from brad on tonights game A couple of notes if you want to follow this weekend's games against No. 1 Colorado College: On radio: Saturday night's game will be on Cat Country 100.3 instead of the regular Fox 96.1 FM. This is because of the UND football game. Friday night's hockey game will still be on 96.1 FM.
