  1. you dont think hak and company think brad is the starter and the number 1 ? they arent going to say that yet or at anypoint to keep him humble and pushing him. he is better than walski. walski has started 4 games in 4 years and brad has started twice as many this season. again, im not knocking walsi at all but i think this situation it was it is to this point. could it change? maybe but right now brad is the starter. there isnt a need for a 50/50 rotation at all if one goalie wins games. im not saying hes the next coming to eddie belfour but he was broguht in here to play right away with the situation the sioux have and is doing that because the coaches feel he gives the team the best chance to win. ill trust hak and coaching on this one. i dont want to argue at all, just that its very evident who the team plays better in front of and who the copaches think gives the team the best chance to win. as a goalie you have to make the saves you are suppose to at this level and also make a few that you werent suppose to and thats what seperates the two right now. go sioux
  2. sometimes players need to be benched. there were a handful that he probably could have benched but im sure it was calculated on who he did bench as it always is with coaches and why they do what they do. you cant bench a entire team which was needed after last fridays game so he chose who to bench and then you move on. they won saturday which helps even more with the guys he benched in my mind lighting a little fire if needed. the sioux will be fine but its a must to get to .500 after this weekend and grab the 4 wcha points. its very possible this weekend like it was last but the effort and play friday was embarrassing to the coaches, players and fans. saturday was better and lets hope it just continues through the end of this month and december!! go sioux sioux sweep

  4. rylan kaip almost was forced to quit hockey because of post concussion syndrome and sioux recruit brett brunteau missed tons of the season last year due to the same thing. scary stuff an old interview with brett talking a little about the concussion he had last season http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/?blog=31527 Q. How bad was it? BRETT BRUNETEAU: It was a Grade Three severe concussion. One step below a coma. Three months later, I was still having blurred vision and constant headaches. That added to the reason why doctors thought I should give up playing hockey. Q. Some doctors told you to quit? BRETT BRUNETEAU: Yeah. Honestly, it was probably one of the hardest things I've gone through in life. Doctors told me I should hang up the skates and I should not play any more contact sports. But I was very lucky to be able to work with the coaching staff, along with the staffs at North Dakota and Washington (Capitals, who drafted Bruneteau last summer). They helped me get in touch with some of the best doctors in the country. I worked hand-in-hand with them and I was able to return before the end of the season. Q. Have you had any previous concussions? BRETT BRUNETEAU: Yeah, this was my third. Q. Going forward, how big of a concern are the concussions? BRETT BRUNETEAU: Any player will tell you that injuries are something you can't control. There are variables in hockey along with any other sport. It's something you have to put in the back of your mind. You can't play with any sort of fear. I've been working with North Dakota, Washington and my junior team, Des Moines, to really do a lot of research and come up with the best precautions. I actually have started wearing a special helmet now and I have a special mouthpiece. I definitely did my research to try to do the best I can to prevent it from happening again. Q. Are you aware of what former Sioux captain Rylan Kaip went through here? BRETT BRUNETEAU: Yes. He was one of the guys the North Dakota coaches were able to use as an example and a reference point to help me out.

  6. that 1 class i took in summer school at bemidji state paid off more than the other 40 i took at ASU
  7. a Concussion. concussions are very serious as im sure you know. you never know how a body will react to a concussion until a couple weeks after for the most part and obviously its not minor. lets hope he can come back after the new year and get back into this lineup that an really use him.
  8. no suprise on joe. it was mentioned that he should be out until after the new year. get better joe!! so miller should be on the blueline again im assumng and fienhage would be the 7th d man as of now and hopefuly on the trip barring injuries. or maybe corey plays over someone else as i dont see blood sitting anytime soon. i do hope we see mario in friday then go from there as i like the intensity he plays with. not sure who to sit though. im glad hak has to make that decision go sioux SIOUX SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP http://www.areavoices.com/undhockey/ Joe Finley is still out. He's out indefinitely, coach Dave Hakstol said. He was not at practice. Evan Trupp and Andrew Kozek should be back in the lineup on Friday. Hakstol said that scratching them was not personal and that it was a two-part equation. He said the one part of the equation that everyone is missing is that he wanted to get guys like Mario Lamoureux and Brent Davidson into the lineup. Lamoureux is expected to travel to Duluth and could be in the lineup again this weekend.
  9. and the only way to get comfortable is playing game after game which he will be doing. he gives the sioux the best chance to win
  10. i doubt he was being recruited by anyone overall lately since he verballed a while ago to uw but not sure on who recruited him a couple years back. im guessing top schools were though the whole scholarship thing doesnt make sense as most teams max they will offer and thats to top players is 85-92 5 i believe. strange story.
  11. not really a fight, toews got hit a couple times but took him down which was smart. toews was just sticking up for kane who got hit earlier. shows toews understands. nice to see out of a captain who isnt a fighter.
  12. more on this http://westerncollegehockey.blogspot.com/ isnt that 4 de-commits now.(Travis Erstad,Prior,Wiercioch(at DU), and Montpetit) i think these are correct i also read they have 4 or 5 forwards set to come in and may only be losing 1 or so. what the hell is eaves doing. what a joke and im sure this will raise eyebrows of many younger players they are trying to recruit
  13. it doesnt matter if you are a freshman or senior at this level. you play who gives the team a better chance to win. period. bottom line. to favor a freshman? thats not happening by accident. he has the und's only wins and has been solid for the most part. this isnt little league where everyone gets to play a period. i think aaron has done himself a hell of a job to where hes at even right now on this team from where he came in at but this is brads team to netmind and it will be for many years. go sioux, sweep the dogzzzzzzzzzzz
  14. crhis mentions his top 10 mr hockey list - mattson 2nd http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1...tas.html?cat=14 kristo article
  15. he fought martin hanzal, good choice. his first fight as well i believe heavyweight match up toews shootout goal but doesnt show the scrap http://coyotes.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?hlg=20082009,2,266 and he scores in the shootout, seriously he is amazing in shootouts. wow. 3 of 4 on the season for jonny and 3 former sioux are in top 12 of shootouts in nhl (stafford and parise also) they must really take advantage of that in sioux practices http://www.nhl.com/ice/shootoutstats.htm?navid=NAV|STS|Shoot
  16. exactly
  17. yeah, i looked at it as well and seemed like a late bloomer diamond in the rough type of league. ill find out where tj played in seattle but that would be a way different situation as you know but im interested as well just found this out 1993-1996 he played mites in seattle jr hockey, 97-98 squirts AAA, 99-2000 peewee AAA, 2000-01 BANTAM AAA, moved to warroad in august 2002. played 1 game in norpac for washington totems, had a hattrick and had 3-5= 8 total points in the game. played in this game between sophmore and junior year at warroad
  18. i have a good feeling that this league isnt even close to the ushl or bchl or ajhl at that. i may be wrong but ive neevr ever heard of it being a big college recruiting hotbed. whoever this kid is he is a 1988 birthdate
  19. i thought the same thing last weekend when going over the D situation. lose jones and finely like you say and retain lapoint, marto, blod, fienhage and genoway and adding macwilliam and gleason. it may be a case of bad timing overall or they figure something out maybe with gleason? i have no clue but i read that article as well. in hak we trust
