The NY Post story doesn't have reliable sources. Post: Was tipped off by Steve Bannon. Emails from a hard drive were handed over by Giuliani who has worked with a Russian agent in Ukraine to smear Biden. Sean Hannity's past producer helped co-write the stories for the Post. Giuliani goes to FOX to try spead the rumors. T tweets and tweets. Same old $h[t. Talk up someone else's untruths, knowing it's completely false. That's our P boys/girls, take off the blinders. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/the-anatomy-of-the-new-york-post-s-dubious-hunter-biden-story/ar-BB1a9rGs?ocid=msedgdhp Yet the story behind the story is a familiar one: CNN hasn't been able to authenticate emails and the New York Post declined to comment. "This is a classic example of the right-wing media machine," Stelter said. "Fox and Trump have this in common: They want you to stay mad and stay tuned." The story is a "manufactured scandal," Stelter said, meant to feed "whataboutism" -- an opportunity for the right-wing media to shift the conversation from Trump's record to Biden's. "The strategy is to deflect attention, to attack the opponent, and the same propaganda pipeline is there all the time," said Yochai Benkler, a professor at Harvard Law School told Stelter on "Reliable Sources" Sunday. Benkler noted that when Hillary Clinton's emails, and the FBI investigation into her handling of classified information that ultimately recommended no charges, and the Clinton foundation became the subject of right-wing media talking points, serious journalists dug into her emails. "I think, this time, unlike what we saw with Clinton, where serious journalists fell for the Bannon-produced Clinton Foundation nonsense trivially, where serious journalists dug into the e-mails, and Gallup shows us, the only thing people thought about when they thought about Clinton was e-mails and foundation," Benkler said. Right-wing media is trying for the same strategy again as Election Day grows closer. But unlike previous "closing argument" stories, the media world has largely ignored the Post's Hunter Biden story. "They're so confident that the story's just going to be too much fun for serious journalists not to pick up," Benkler said. "They're trying to produce it now, but the media at the moment -- major professional media -- doesn't seem to be falling for it." That might be because the details of the story have been denied by a credible former Joe Biden staffer and the Biden campaign, and US authorities are investigating whether the emails are part of an ongoing Russian disinformation effort. Jimmy Carter says a full investigation would show Trump lost in 2016 https://www.politico.com/story/2019/06/28/jimmy-carter-russia-investigation-trump-lost-1387634 -

Catie Edmondson 2 hrs ago. Fearing a ‘Blood Bath,’ Republican Senators Begin to Edge Away From Trump WASHINGTON — For nearly four years, congressional Republicans have ducked and dodged an unending cascade of offensive statements and norm-shattering behavior from President Trump, ignoring his caustic and scattershot Twitter feed and penchant for flouting party orthodoxy, and standing quietly by as he abandoned military allies, attacked American institutions and stirred up racist and nativist fears. But now, facing grim polling numbers and a flood of Democratic money and enthusiasm that has imperiled their majority in the Senate, Republicans on Capitol Hill are beginning to publicly distance themselves from the president. The shift, less than three weeks before the election, indicates that many Republicans have concluded that Mr. Trump is heading for a loss in November. And they are grasping to save themselves and rushing to re-establish their reputations for a coming struggle for their party’s identity. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/fearing-a-blood-bath-republican-senators-begin-to-edge-away-from-trump/ar-BB1a6Zm4?ocid=msedgdhp -

Todd Shields and Ben Brody 5 hrs ago A U.S. Federal Communications Commission decision to review a liability shield for Twitter Inc. and Facebook Inc. fulfills the wishes of President Donald Trump and his conservative allies, yet has prompted questions about the agency’s authority and political motivations. With less than three weeks before the American election, the FCC’s Republican Chairman, Ajit Pai, said the agency would seek to “clarify” the platforms’ exemptions from liability for how they handle users’ posts. That would fulfill an executive order issued in May by Trump to rein in Big Tech after Twitter started to fact-check the president’s posts. https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/foes-slam-timing-of-trump-backed-fcc-move-to-rein-in-twitter/ar-BB1a4mme?ocid=msedgdhp -
