The defense has been lights out lately.....completely in sync! They start and finish as the aggressor.....need the offense to mirror that. If the offense can maintain the aggressiveness a full game ....und is a very good team. Injuries that could have a big effect on today’s game: Tobin- was my choice for top OL the last couple years. Nate should fill in nicely but the seasons starting two on the left side are out. Not what a team wants to see Tanner - he was a leader and was having a hell of a year. Big loss Santiago- his bum knee limits his explosiveness. Should play but won’t be himself JJ- looked as though he tweaked something (groin/hammy)in the 4th qtr vs Montana. Might see some Weah today shannon- rolled his ankle, seemed a little gimpy. I feel this game should be a blowout but it all comes down to the offense being aggressive and keeping the pedal down and of course the special teams. I think #8 will have the offense ready... 38-17 und

NG is unquestionably the most important position in a 3-4 scheme. They NEED to control the “A” gap and should require a double team, maybe triple team. Keep the OL away from the backers. It’s the most exhausting of any position as well. They don’t usually have the best stats but are the catalyst behind the D being a good one to being great D. ....and und has a great combo of them. Let’s enjoy them this year.

Agreed. Based on senior numbers alone this year .....there is a ton of talent returning next year. Two positions take a big hit however .....RB and nose. RB seems to be in good hands with JJ and Otis and perhaps McKinney? But the nose ,IMO, will need a drop down. Big big losses with Greer and tank. Jalen is green and light. Add in Austin at DE and und will lose the only three guys that are over 260 lbs. The returnees (DL) need to gain some lbs (namely jalen) and would like to see a drop down at nose. Und could have a fantastic 2019 season just a little timid about the nose position.

Hit the nail on the head with that remark. Since all I hear from the youngins that times/things change, get used to it ....well moving them to a newer fantastic location would be a change ....a truly beneficial change IMO. The students old seats could be the new general area like the east bleachers of memorial. That way large groups of people can be seated together rather than being separated by designated seats all over the alerus. Keep the party that was outside ....inside! Bonus to this is the “rowdy” groups can heckle the opposition. The students new seating area could be lined with phone charger stations, free WiFi, Starbucks and support animals. I would have to think everyone would be happy with it.

Thinking about the rankings last night. Does N Iowa get credited for a “quality” loss to Montana and und gets credited a “bad” win against Montana? Serious question based on N Iowa bias.
-
One thing that has been noticeable this year is the physical size of und. As Montana was out pre gaming it I had thought they had some big dudes, which they do, until und faced up against them. I recall Sam fans posting about unds size as well. Last years miscue of a season must have lit a fire under these guys asses. Looks like a summer of dedication from the young men. Like to see it!

The two options are the same thing ...right?
-
Fcs stats is comical.....3-3 UNI #25. They got beat by Montana ....lol. Und 4-2 pounded the !@#$ out of the same team and has a top 15 W and not rated....Good stuff Could this be the year that we finally see a potential 5-6 team playoff bound? NCAA will make exceptions for uni even though the required win number is 6

Forgot to keep an eye on it last game but was sequin 2nd string? I seen his number out there a few times just not sure if he is 2nd string.
-
The other thing about holm is he is an absolute burner. Only Evan could of caught Montana’s jet sweep guy that went for 70 + yards. He saved und 6 pts. He has to be low end 4.3 Seigel needs to add weight. He will be a good one but for 2018 just play him the 4 games and shirt him. He needs another 15 lbs on him at a minimum.
-
CBs have been fantastic this year. Evan should be considered for all American. Playing good ball. Blubaugh was draped all over his guy yesterday as well. Because of their play Schmitty is able to let loose up front.
-
I agree. It was to actually see the deep ball. Keep the D honest. Und has nice talent on offense ...use it. But they still have that complete ultra conservative stretch that can/could sway the momentum to the oppsoning team. That’s frustrating! Und has now scored a whopping 10 pts in the 3rd qtr in their 6 games. Zero in four straight. That needs to change!!! Sac st will not be a good indicator but Weber will possess a formidable D that will truly test the offense on what many teams outside of the big sky have for defenses.

Tanner is huge loss. It sucks for him and the team. Rastas is more like Jade is aspect of speed but the OLB position is light in numbers and Rastas plays a great game. His chances of seeing the field at ILB are very low. I think it would be an asset to the team with him on the field somewhere. He was a freshman all American last year.
-
If it truly is a torn acl, which it likely seems to be....I feel terrible for Tanner. Played the game the way it should be played. Great player. Not the way a player wants to end his college career If Tanners season is done ....I would like to see Rastas move over to OLB. Absolutely love his style . His size is more adequate for OLB. Plus he’s buried deep at ILB.....get his talent on the field.

Thought I was at funeral. Crazy how many people can make so little noise
-
My main issue with bubba.....ND nice. Keep the throttle down at all times and maybe get the 2nd/3rd stringers in.
-
Nice win. Didn’t expect to see a convincing win over a team that had beat holier than thou UNI team

I won’t/can’t answer that directly. I saw a previous post that warned SS users to back off of the “negative” comments as moms, dads and potential recruits might use it against und. Apparently SS is the finalization if a recruit attends und or not. Who would of ever thought ! Fans on a forum board are a deciding factor in a recruits decision!? From now on we need to use proper, nice, sunshine comments to get recruits. People are watching and judging. If you have the time and/or the patience ....go back to some of the posts from 2016-2017-2018 years. Ive stated numerous times how “wonderful” Rudy is. It hasn’t changed.

20-10 und first half 10-24 Montana second half. 30-34 Montana
-
On paper .....this is a game und should win. Montanas OL is in shambles and their run D is suspect. Montana has the talent to be successful....they just need to have a complete game. Talent is there for und to be successful....but will be out-couched. The trend of und doing well in the first half will continue before adjustments are made by Montana at halftime. It’s a reoccurring theme I haven’t seen enough to this point of the year that would say that und has enough to come away with the W. Rudy could very well succumb to one individual...yes one guy....Olson. He is a stud .....Rudy isn’t. If Rudy was able to bring back the playbook from Idaho st first half I would like unds chances. Highly doubtful that will happen. Being at home helps ....having Rudy is major thorn in the ass. - Unds front 7 should have a fun day. - Montana owns the 3rd qtr - und will get ultra conservative - the crowd will quite as Montana owns the 3rd qtr - und “wins” the TOP ...only to lose the game with ultra conservative BS - same ol same ol *this a game that I truly believe that und could throttled the opponent. The matchups and styles are in unds favor. Unfortunately the coaching is not

Looking at the first 5 games ....defensively it’s been a roller coaster , offensively it's been what Ive expected....frustrating , ST is what I expected as well...inexperienced overall grade of opposing team mvsu : F ( 0-3) wash: A+ sam: C (2-2) Idaho st: C+ n colo: D (0-5) unds 3 wins...the teams have a combined 2-10 record game 1 - I remarked in the post game , outside of Brady, I was not impressed at all. This is the team that is widely considered the worst fcs team. The game should have been over in the 1st qtr just like every other mvsu game. Defense grade D offense grade. F Game 2: The D stepped up and played a fantastic 3 qtrs against a fantastic team.....ran out of gas in the fourth. This offense (oc) has a tough time against an average fcs team... this was a top 10 fbs team. Defense grade A- offense grade D ( Santiago - A) Game 3 : The D played a good game. In hindsight ....Sams offense has been average. They are not built like the past years. Und held them to their averages. In the 1st half, as has been the case this year, the offense was able to move the ball only to be outdone by the opposing DC in the 2nd half. Good road win Defense grade : B offense grade: D Game 4: the D was absolutely shredded in the first half. The offensive play calling was fantastic for a qtr and half ....then the fumble. The 2nd half....the D made adjustments and the offense did not. Horrible 2nd half showing by the offense Defense grade: D offensive grade : D game 5: A good showing against a winless team. 2nd half offense was same ol same ol. ST group hopefully gaining confidence Defense grade: A offense grade: B As I mentioned at the top ...the D has been a roller coaster but light years ahead of last year. They need to shore up the run D however. They have been getting exposed up front recently. Full confidence in this group to get it done. The offense.....I have continuously stated my frustrations with the OC. The talent is there to be much better then what we have been witnessing. They have the ability to play like the qtr and half that they did vs Idaho st ....against all but one fcs team they have scheduled this year. Weber is tough but no other team is known for defense.

This is well deserved

Oops my bad. Big misunderstanding on my part. Definitely fake news.

Nguyen and Mortel our for the year. Tackles are becoming very vey thin.
