Oshie leaves for the Blues too

So what your saying is "theres a chance" give it to me straight what are the odds?

You'll have a 'chance' at his pants and gloves-they'll be at Play It Again Sports the day after the season.

His days in GF are numbered. He'll be the best player in the NHL with Fighting Sioux ties. Mark my words (comments). Toews, Parise, Ludwig, Belfour.. Oshie will put UND on the map; if it hasn't been already. His peak is 4-6 years out and it'll be fun to watch! Get the NHL package!

Oh it's on the map. Take a look at all of the players that are in the NHL that have come through UND. You cant often watch a game that doesn't include the announcers mentioning that they are a player that is a product of UND. Not knocking Oshie at all, but he will be just another player to add to that list, and a very good one at that.

0 in a million? does that work :D

ok, so call me a little bit of an optimist (which doesnt happen very often :glare: ) but i really do think TJ will stay with the Sioux through his senior year. Ok, so they are havin a not so amazing season, but hey, maybe he'll finish out his senior year. We will just have to see.

( a fan can only hope he'll stay  )

yeh no joke! i guess i would LOVE to see him stay, but i KNOW he probably wont.

I know these kids are leaving the sioux, or any college hockey team for that matter, before their senior year, but why?

Do they want the 'fame and fortune' of the NHL

or do they really just want to forget college hockey altogether?

if it were me(which it isnt) i would probably stay, and live out what was left of my 'free and easy' years before getting shoved into the professional world. I imagine it is super hard making a name for yourself in such a huge association of players.

I guess either way, its not like hes quitting hockey, he is just going to a different team, so at least we can still watch him

because they are ready to. it could be after your freshman or sophmore season as well. it shouldnt matter when they leave as long as they are ready. its pretty simple actually. for the top draft picks playing for the sioux or any top college is a stepping stone for them to improve for the pros. we are lucky to have tj back for 3 years so enjoy it and hopefully they make a ru at #8 which i think they will.

have no clue wat you are referring to about leaving and wanting fame and fortune or to forget about college hockey. what?? lets see, if you are good enough you can go make a grip load of money and improve to get that 2nd contract that will set you up for life thats also a pretty simple decision.

and your last point about, "well its not like hes quitting hockey" ....good observation :glare: he will move on like every season when players do to fulfill their dreams of playing in the NHL.

hey thanks about the good observation, and i totally see what you mean when you say its like a stepping stone.

what i meant by the fame and fortune is that since they arent making any money really by playing college hockey, they need some financial stability,,,,? if you get my drift.

and yes, we are EXTREMELY lucky to have had him for these 3 years (hope for 4)

not to be a doubter, but look at chris porter. he stayed through his senior year, and then went to the blues. just yesterday i checked the blues roster and he wasnt on there.

he was an absolutely AMAZING player at UND, and now i cant find him in the NHL . I can only hope this same thing doesnt happen to such a great talent like oshie, duncan, lamoreaux, bina, etc.

ok.........cris porter was a very late round draft pick. not considered a high nhl prospect by where he was drafted obviously. he didnt even sign with chicago who was the team who drafted him then st louis signed him and im sure chris knew he would end up in peoria which is the AHL tam of the blues. i never thought chris would be a everyday nhl player. that doesnt mean he can work his way up to get a few shots due to injury or what not but there is a HUGE difference between tj oshies prospect status and where chris porter was projected. chris was projected to be a 4 year player from day 1 he arrived at UND. very few players go to the NHL like i stated in my last post right out of college. again............toews, EJ ect are rare examples that are nhl ready

tj will sign the day after the sioux play there last game. you can hope all you want, thats fine. my advise is enjoy him for the next 4 months.

and sorry not to be a downer but chris porter wasnt a amazing player at UND , what he did by playing every game was amazing and he was a great captain and a hell of a player but AMAZING should be saved for a rare group in my eyes

i dont think you have a idea on pro prospects and the nhl draft and all of that, im not being mean but the players you are throwing out dont make sense. bina is a senior and a undrafted player at that. he can move along to the minors for sure but hes not a nhl 1st rd prospect like tj oshie. phil as well. hes in that same boat as bina, get a crack in the minors and see what happens. duncan will get a nhl shot but he is also undrafted which makes him a free agent so he can sign with what team offers him the best opportunity

hope this helps you make sense of things but when players are ready they need to move along to the next level and the sioux coaches have no problem with that as they expect it while recruiting top notch talent every season. same goes for many other top d-1 colleges
