tnt Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 Lennon said to Tim & Swyg this moring that 3 true freshmen would play this year, but wouldn't specify which ones. With playing time at the scrimmage last week in EGF, does anyone have a good inkling which ones it might be? Quote
UND92,96 Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 No true freshmen were listed on the 2-deep depth chart published in Sunday's Herald. It will be interesting to see whether a different depth chart is included in the press release for the Humboldt St. game that will likely be posted on fightingsioux.com later today. In terms of red-shirt freshmen, Jake Landry (quarterback), Creighton Schroyer (guard) and Joel Schwenzfeier (strong safety) are currently listed as being second on the depth chart. Quote
tnt Posted August 20, 2007 Author Posted August 20, 2007 Chris Mussman is telling Mike McNamara that Josh Murray will play as a true freshman. He is #3 on the depth chart behind Chappell and Brady. Quote

I think that's a smart move, particularly given the fact that Brady has been a bit injury-plagued throughout his brief UND career. Dungy is available as well, but he's probably just too small to be more than a situational back. Quote
Big10Sioux Posted August 20, 2007 Posted August 20, 2007 I've heard a lot about Delano Saporu that makes me think he could be another playing. Hopefully, these guys are physically and mentally prepared to contribute and not just covering a weakness. Quote

Nice... Lennon keeps it all a secret, telling Tim & Swyg to wait for the press release; then Mussman blurts a few hours later. Quote
#1Hakfan Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Like I said in another thread that Murray kid is a stud, lots of talent. He will surely be the number 2 guy. I am guessing that this may be the best 1, 2 punch the Sioux have ever had (or at least in the last 25 years). If they put them both in the backfield it will be very exciting. Nice... Lennon keeps it all a secret, telling Tim & Swyg to wait for the press release; then Mussman blurts a few hours later. Quote
tnt Posted August 21, 2007 Author Posted August 21, 2007 http://www.grandforksherald.com/articles/index.cfm?id=47673 Looks like Lennon was just extending professional courtesy because he knew a story was coming out. Quote
4siouxnow Posted August 21, 2007 Posted August 21, 2007 Great video on Sioux Extra from Lenon talking about the team and the 1st game. If you haven't signed up I think you'll be missing more great stuff in the future also. Quote
