fitz152
As a Michigan fan I just wanted to take a few minutes and tell all Sioux fans congratulations on your trip to the Frozen Four. I live in Louisville, Kentucky (but born and raised in the great State of Michigan), so you can imagine college hockey talk is scarce to say the least, and if I hear one more Billy Donovan rumor I am going to stick a hot fork in my eye! I also host a college football show on 790WKRD. When football is done, I turn my attention to college hockey! The WCHA again proved that it is arguably the best conference in college hockey. North Dakota and Minnesota didn't let us down in the West final! Thanks for a great game!! I also host a weekly college hockey podcast at 790wkrd.com. I had a chance to sit down with CSTV's Dave Starman and we broke down the Frozen Four and looked back at 2006-2007. I invite you to listen to the podcast here and discuss. Again, congratulations to the Sioux and best of luck at the Frozen Four!

fitz152
Thank you for the link and posting. I'd love to see Louisville and UK as a D1 hockey schools. Any chance that will ever happen? One could only wish. This community isn't ready for hockey. They have a great youth program here, but that's about it. There's almost a sick parinoia when it comes to hockey. I can't tell you how many times I hear..."this is a basketball town" or "no one watches hockey". My daughter went through a youth camp about three years ago that was run by the University of Louisville club team and they did a great job with it. The Florida Panthers brought their AAA team in hear for a bit, but left because no one would go to their games. Bob Valvano does a local show here on 790wkrd. I filled in one day and talked with Fred Pletsch (FSN Detroit - College Hockey Analyst) and to my surprise that interview prompted calls from local college hockey fans....a lot of Bowling Green fans. Regardless, I will keep pressing on to promote this great sport this "basketball" state.
Goon
I am not so sure I could live in a place that didn't have hockey. I guess that means I will be living in the snow for the rest of my life.

I loved the winters in Michigan and the summers were great. Kentucky summers are the worst!

kvinbe
LOL!!! Welcome to my world brother. No hockey absoutely sucks! As far as the snow....I know it's sick, but I miss it. I loved the winters in Michigan and the summers were great. Kentucky summers are the worst! I hear what you're saying. I lived in southern Indiana for five years and the summer heat was brutal. The heat turned the grass and leaves a kind of pale yellow, and there was this haze always hanging around. However, the spring and fall were just about as good as it gets. Don't have much for spring and fall in Minnesota. Kind of goes from winter to summer. Or as we like to joke around here: there are two seasons, winter and road construction. Goon
I'm with you all the way on that one, Goon. I can't fathom the thought of going through a winter without hockey. 2004-2005 NHL Lock out, the winter of depression.
farce poobah
2004-2005 NHL Lock out, the winter of depression. Except the World Juniors that year were REALLY good. Fitz, thanks for the note. I hope we see Michigan more frequently in the future; the games are always great ones.

fitz152
That's Michigan State. I think things are going to be quiet at Michigan for a couple of years to come. It's been a great run of talent, but things are should quiet down next year. BTW...did anyone see Jack Johnson get laid out last night?
