Because that's how Coach Lennon has set the team up. The offense isn't wide open like Augie because UND wants to control the ball, play field position, and have the defense dominate. If you have a problem with the offense some blame can be pushed to Mussman, but he is only doing the job the head coach wants him to do. If that wasn't the case I am sure he would have been replaced long ago.

Exactly. I've heard Lennon say this several times on his TV and radio shows. Any team Lennon coaches is going to be a reflection of his approach to the game. While I, too, have at times expressed frustration with the offensive play calling, I can't argue with Lennon's record of success using this approach. When it doesn't work, it's easy to criticize. But more often than not, it does work.

I often get frustrated with conservative offense calls when UND has a lead.

However, I have to admit that long, all ground, munch up the yards, time-consuming fourth quarter drive to make it 38-14 was absolutely perfect to take any thoughts of "comeback" right out of UMD's head.
