The petition, filed today with the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board in Alexandria, Virginia, cites ``extensive evidence concerning the history of the use of the term `Redskin' and public perception of the objectionable term,'' the group said in a statement.See what Smithsonian Institution senior linguist Ives Goddard said about the origins of "redskin" in this Washington Post article.
