GeauxSioux Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 Rodriguez Jr. formally sentenced to death for killing Sjodin The man convicted of killing college student Dru Sjodin was formally sentenced to death this morning by a judge who said it was the most difficult day of his life. U.S District Judge Ralph Erickson fought back tears as he handed down the sentence to Alfonso Rodriguez Jr. He rejected a motion for a new trial. Rodriguez, 53, a convicted sex offender from Crookston, was found guilty by a jury last fall of kidnapping resulting in the death of Sjodin, a University of North Dakota student from Pequot Lakes, Minn. The same jury voted unanimously for the death penalty. Quote

Sioux-cia Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 All the people involved in this tragedy have been affected deeply by Dru's murder. The only one to remain impassive is her murderer. I pray that his appeals will be processed swiftly within the constraints of the law and he is put to death soon. Every minute he lives, is too long. Quote
