GoldyGopher Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Gophs: 5 BADgers: 1 2nd Period... Timeout BADgers..... Quote
redwing77 Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 1 player is changed in the lineup and EVERYONE starts to suck hardcore. GOD I love having two good goaltenders. Quote
sagard Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 5-3 with 15 minutes to go. UW buzzing. 5-4 Quote
Smoggy Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 5-4. this game just got good. Briggs just got bad. Quote
Smoggy Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Still 14 minutes left. Briggs put the last one in himself. Quote
redwing77 Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 I called the Badgers as sucking and they took offense. Nice. Quote
A.B.T.G. Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Hmmmm.... Where did Goldy Gopher go...here to chirp about the rodents when they are winning, now back in his hole! Quote
A.B.T.G. Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Have your guys started the 3rd? Here is a great link.... Quote
sagard Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Two stupid Badger penalties took the wind out of their sails and the Gophs hung on. UW had pressure but couldn't get the puck through traffic the last ten minutes. Quote
GoldyGopher Posted January 28, 2006 Author Posted January 28, 2006 Gophs Win..... Now back to my hole again...... Quote
Sioux_Yeah_Yeah Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Wow, the badgers really suck without Elliott... Quote
Siouxdonyms Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Wow, the badgers really suck without Elliott... They actually could have won this game, but took some penalties in the middle of the third to slow down their momentum, allowing the Gophers to recover from their temporary breakdown. Scoring the 3 goals in 2 minutes, 39 seconds was pretty crazy, and definitely ignited the crowd back into the game. Made for a fun 3rd period to watch, which was more than what you could say about the 2nd period of the game. Quote

You have to realize one thing: Only ONE person for the Badgers is out of the game involuntarily, and that is Elliot. If a team is as good as their record infers, then this shouldn't stop the Badgers. They are failing MISERABLY at the first sign of adversity. Yeah, Elliot is their #1 goaltender and their #2 is a freshman, but still, their offensive and defensive makeup is UNCHANGED otherwise. Really, there's no excuse for getting swept by Denver and, though the jury is still out for tommorrow, if UW is swept this weekend, they are basically out of contention for #1 and no longer a favorite in anything. I don't think I ever disagreed with Sioux Yeah Yeah. I simply stated that the Badgers could have one this one, which they could have. They have no excuse for their poor play through the first two periods. This is their second weekend without Elliot, so they should have found a way to adjust, if they're the team that their records says they are. I also think that there vulnerability was exposed back in December when they lost to Tech, and than nearly lost to the US Development team, and that's when they had Elliot. I guess I don't agree with you as far as them being out of contention for #1 with being swept this weekend. If they turn it around and start winning games again, like they were prior to last weekend, things would most likely go their way. With that being said, I'm not a Badger fan, so I hope they do lose more often, regardless of who's in net. Quote
Slap Shot Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 I don't think Elliott would have made a difference. At most 1 goal seemed soft and the Gophers controlled easily as much play last night as Wisconsin - if not more. They just played better than the series at Mecca. Quote
THETRIOUXPER Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 Hey, Sioux Habit, this would be a good place for you to tell us all about your "favorite" move from the World Juniors. Quote

THETRIOUXPER Posted January 28, 2006 Posted January 28, 2006 31 > 26 > 17 Well you can kind of count. Other wise, what the hell is that about. Typical slappy psychobabble. Quote

Siouxdonyms Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Saturday night game: Wisconsin 1 Minnesota 0 1st period. Quote
Siouxdonyms Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Gophers tie it, 1-1, at the 4:47 mark of the 2nd period. Quote
sagard Posted January 29, 2006 Posted January 29, 2006 Gophers are playing pretty good WCHA road hockey. Absorbing a lot of UW pressure and killing penalties. Another UW PP coming up. Quote
