Gophs score.  Kessel on ice but doesn't appear to touch puck.  We'll see if he gets one of those phantom assists Woog detests.

Kessel did get the assist on that play. But he did actually poke it over to Howe, who had a tap in. Pretty slick play after a monumental MSU goalie error.

When your team scores only one goal, I don't think you can put too much blame on the goalie.

Giving up 5 goals is giving up 5 goals. And, there is something to be said for keeping the team in the game. But no, it is not entirely his fault.

The one bright spot is, my new favorite guy did score our only goal. Those Shattuck-St. Mary's players are pretty good. Maybe we'll have to get some more of those in the future... :D

From what little I've noticed, it has only partly to do with goaltending and mostly due to defense as a team. You guys aren't playing good D right now which REALLY surprises me. I thought Sandy's strength was defensive play.

You are right, that our D-corps has a lot to do with it, but why are you surprised? We returned only a few defensemen, and last year our defense struggled as well. It doesn't surprise me in the least, there's no leadership there. We lost Beau Geisler and then no one stepped up.

I'm not hanging the hat totally on Ziggy, really. I mostly said what I said because people were so curious earlier about what sort of playing time he was going to get, and blah blah blah.

Our seasoned goaltenders should not be giving up goals like they have been. A young d-corps isn't an excuse to give up more goals, it's an excuse to step up and be sharper. Not all the goals that the 'Dogs have let in have been because of poor D. Some of them have been bad goaltending, and not just Ziggy. He's learning, he's the least of my worries. BUT like I said before, there's something to be said for keeping the team in the game.

I'm not happy about a whole lot of aspects of the Bulldogs game. However, unlike last year, I can actually have hope for the future. Although at the end of the 03-04 season, I had hope for the future, too, and look where that got me.

Let's see how tonight goes. Maybe a W?:D I've got my jersey on!
