Siouxhockey78
just curious if anyone knew of any walk on's trying out for the team or is that all over all ready
Sioux_Hab-it
I believe it has already been discussed in a previous thread that Martens was this years successful walk-on. just curious if anyone knew of any walk on's trying out for the team or is that all over all ready <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Kermit
I believe it has already been discussed in a previous thread that Martens was this years successful walk-on. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Martens may be a walk-on in the sense of not having a scholarship (I'm not sure), but he was certainly recruited. Every team in the WCHA has recruited walk-ons. Traditional walk-ons, in the sense of one who just shows up and makes the team via tryout, are fairly rare. It happens occasionally, but the odds are long against those players unless an opening on the roster occurs unexpectedly. Todd Alexander and Aaron Walski are two other players who might be recruited walk-ons.
redwing77
I don't think that we have any true walk ons this year. Only recruited ones (Alexander, Walski, and Martens). Of those, Alexander baffles me the most. But Hak knows better than I.

jk
I believe Foyt was a recruited walk-on; he was invited to come play for the team, but without a scholarship. There was some press in the town he played junior hockey in about him coming to play for the Sioux that Fall.
