dakota fairways Posted November 8, 2010 Posted November 8, 2010 The Chuck Klosterman article on Rick Helling reminds me of an experience at the Otter Basketball camp south of Battle Lake, Minnesota about 1969. Phil Jackson was regarded as one of the best sixth men in the NBA for the Knicks and came to the camp as a guest counselor for a couple of days. I don't remember much about it (it was over 40 years ago, after all) except that he could make shots from anywhere, he seemed to be a really nice guy and he drove an MG Midget. He folded himself into that car and filled the whole interior all by himself. He did, however, make me a fan for life by being personable, approachable and taking time to come and talk to a bunch of kids in the middle of nowhere Minnesota for a couple of days. Quote
