Skateblade
Anyone know of a good place to stay near the Kohl Center?
Fedorov
The Howard Johnson is the best location, but it is probably booked by now.
206Jockey
Your in for a goodtime, I grew up in badger country and the hockey games are amazing. I recommend hitting up state street brats, or Badgerland Bar & Grill. Great spots for pre-game drinking and socializing. Have no fear badger fans are hardcore yet nice to out of Towner's (Sioux fans).
Godsmack
Badger fans are probably the nicest fans as they are very knowledgable of the game. DU and CC fans are ignorant and therefore only know one cheer-and that's to say the goalie's name and then "sucks!". I still remember sitting in Bonzers Bar downtown GF in 1983 when the Badgers played Harvard for the Natl' Championship. I was a little kid but I still remember how fun those fans in their red striped overalls were. As big as the Badgers/Sioux rivalry is, there does not seem to be the kind of animosity among the fans that exists between the Gophers and Sioux fans. What's the feeling among Badger fans with regards to the Badgers/Gophers rivaly and the Gopher fans in general?
FIRE HELMET GUY #26
The HoJo is probaly the nicest place to stay and right near the Kohl Center. If you are looking for some spots by some fun bars the University Inn is not a bad option either, usually REALLY cheap too becuase it is an older place, QUITE old. But if you are just looking for a place to crash and not much else the University is not a bad place.
Skateblade
So where's the best spots to go pre/Post game to see Sioux fans?
terbele
Cmon Skateblade, just buy a 12 pack of Miller light and stand outside the Kohl Center.
jimdahl
So where's the best spots to go pre/Post game to see Sioux fans? There's never really been a place that Sioux fans congregate. Pre-game, Nitty Gritty will be jammed with fans of all persuasions. Be warned, it will be crowded to the point that you'll probably be standing the whole time (or they'll give you a time limit for a table if you order food). To avoid those crowds and get a place to sit, my friends and I have been hitting State St. Brats before the Friday games the last few years. There were always a few other Sioux fans there, but certainly not a lot. Post-game you can hang out with the coaches/media at the HoJo, though that will be a sleepy scene. If you're looking for a student scene, Brothers is close; State St. Brats will be picking up steam; anything on State St will be getting hopping by 11pm.
