JohnboyND7 Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 I'm not super into hockey. I follow it enough to know who some of the big name guys are. Thought it was weird right away when I saw he left that much money on the table but after looking a little into it, seems like he is going to just play in Russia and be similarly compensated for his work? Thoughts? Quote
yzerman19 Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 He's already wealthy...so the incremental $70 million isn't really all its cracked up to be- If I've got $100 million in the bank, I'm more concerned about doing what I want to do than making another $70 million. Especially if I wasn't super competitive and cup driven- which has always been a knock on Kovi- top 0.01% offensive skill set...not really all that interested in hockey. Add being ex-pat vs at home and things start to make sense. Quote
MafiaMan Posted July 14, 2013 Posted July 14, 2013 If I could be paid $50 million to move back to my home country or $75 million to play thousands of miles away from it, which would I choose? Jeremy Roenick is wrong on this one...kudos to Kovulchuk for wanting to go home...and doing it. Quote
