Sioux on Satellite

PSB

Recommended Posts

Hit the audio button and choose Left hand audio, only that side was working!

Great start!

Go Sioux!

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

actually - my audio worked fine until I reset to factory and no luck on the left side only.

I will probably figure it out eventually - but any assistance would be great.

thanks much

Are you sure about the Duluth & UAA broadcast?

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Not sure, but Sweeney mentioned it twice during yesterday's broadcast, that they will be making trips to Duluth and UAA, and will televise those series.

75% solid on the Pansat

43% solid on the Satwork 3688

Left only audio

Yes it has been confirmed that the Duluth road series (Nov 11/12) and the Anchorage series will be on FSSN

Rumour is Duluth games will be on WDAZ also for the GF people

(and Anchorage might be too)

The old satellite was G3C at 95w

New satellite is IA-8, its a NEW satellite and not listed on the Satwork, you can use Telstar 4 as this was in the same position (89w) but is now a dead satellite!

The dish wll need moved!

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Is it possible to tinker around with the positioning (trial and error) and find the new satellite? I know how to move the satellite left and right and I've tried moving it 6 degrees to the left from the G3C satellite, but how will I know when I'm pointed directly at the new satellite? Is there a test coordinate that's always on? Any help would be appreciated since I know next to nothing about satellites.

test card is on 11973 V 3978

11973 frequency

V polarity

3978 symbol rate

its just color bars and "IntelAmerica 8 at 89 degrees" scrolling across it

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

I can't find the IntelAmerica 8 satellite. Should I just plug in Telstar 4 (also 89 degrees west) as the satellite when I'm running my channel search?

yes

Telsatr 4 is an old satellite that was there

Also, the test card wasnt up last night :D

so use this

12190 freq

H polarity

3978 symbol rate

This is WDSU, the NBC out of New orleans (they are on satellite due to the hurricane)

Thats what I did last weekend and it worked well. Then do another blind scan just prior to the game and you should find the signal.

I repointed my dish last night. scoring 41-43 on this location:

12190 freq

H polarity

3978 symbol rate

using a satworks 3618, 75cm dish, and I have NOT yet moved to the low noise LNBF.

I'm not a pro at this, but it is just as simple as rotating the dish over (to the left). If you mark your starting position on the mounting pole, the 6 degree rotation will look like a 3/16 inch of movement...perhaps a bit less. (assuming you were fixed on the old Sioux satellite)

My advice is to make tiny incremental changes, and wait a moment for things to "settle out" before moving again. Once I found it, I did find that a modest elevation change helped maximize signal (I had to lower it a bit...)

Question however. most channels had very weak audio and lots of static (picture fine). Is that everyone's experience or might I have to tweak something?

Great I was just about to repost the above info.....

12191 freq

H polarity

3979 symbol rate

Use this to point the dish, enter the above and watch the signal QUALITY.

Then some slight rotation (skew) of the LNBF may help increase the signal QUALITY slightly. Rotate the LNBF slightly in its holder, stand away from the dish and watch the signal QUALITY it will only need moved a fraction from where it was from last year but may help slightly. Also you can try moving the LNB slightly closer and further away from the dish reflector and standing away from the dish and watching the quality. I ususlly find the best place for the LNBF is as far awayfrom the dish as it will go in its holder.

If anyone is trying to repoint their dish feel free to give me a call any night and I will walk you through it.

Forgot to say after you find the satellite/channel do a blind scan and it MAY sort any audio problems!

great job marff!

41-43 sounds about right for that channel. I know the exhibition game was ata bout the same signal. (I am using an old LNB).

for an appetizer before the game, there is a football game on the same satellite (and ironically enough...the same frequency but different symbol rate)

Montana vs. Eastern Washington football

2:05 CDT

IA8

11991 freq

V

6148 symbol rate
