cjriv Posted February 8, 2011 Posted February 8, 2011 There used to be an old white outbuilding south of Grand Forks on the east side of I-29. I remember it on our drives up to Grand Forks. It seemed to be used as a billboard of sorts in a battle of wits between UND and NDSU. It looked old and rickety and one wondered how it was even still standing. On one occasion it would have "NDSU Senior Engineering project" painted on the west side. Soon thereafter, it would state "UND Student Housing'. This went on and on for quite some time. It's no longer there, but I wonder if it finally fell due to the weight of the continual whitewashing and black paint. Does anyone else remember this building or have any stories to tell? Quote
Siouxmama Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 I remember the building too. Was always fun to see what would turn up on it next. I live in Thompson, and I don't remember seeing it there since we moved here, 12 years ago. I don't remember it's exact location, was it north of the Thompson exit? Quote
choyt3 Posted February 9, 2011 Posted February 9, 2011 Nope, further south. Maybe even between Mayville exit and Buxton. Quote
nodakvindy Posted February 10, 2011 Posted February 10, 2011 Nope, further south. Maybe even between Mayville exit and Buxton. It was about a mile north of the Buxton exit. There was a lot of great "artwork" on that building over the years. Quote
The Whistler Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 I think it went down around 1997 or '98. Probably vandalize by NDSU students. Quote

Air Force One Posted February 13, 2011 Posted February 13, 2011 It used to be my favorite sight on the drive between Fargo and Grand Forks. The barn in question started to lean, then collapsed onto itself. The owners cleaned up the mess and that was that. Quote
