GeauxSioux Posted December 3, 2009 Posted December 3, 2009 I saw a nice article on the front page of the WSJ today. I'm hoping that it is accessible online to all. It is about the history of the two coaches, how far they go back and the competition between them. Losing Is H-E-Double Hockey Sticks For Boston's Icy Odd Couple BU won seven tournaments during the year and defeated BC both in the Beanpot and again in their conference tournament. But in the NCAA final, BU trailed Ohio's Miami University, 3-1, with three minutes to go. Mr. Parker's assistants persuaded him to pull his goalie for an extra skater, a desperate move with so much time left. The first score came with 59 seconds remaining. The tying goal, scored by Mr. Bonino, came with just 17 ticks left on the clock. Twelve minutes into overtime, BU struck gold. After a day of delirious celebration, Mr. Parker got home and found a message on his answering machine. "Great move pulling the goalie, coach. Congratulations," said the caller. It was Jerry York. I like seeing hockey front and center in the public eye, even if it is east coast hockey. Quote
