moser53 Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 For UND if the TT dbacks are off the line a quick pass to Anderson since he is UND's fastest starting wideout. For TT a running play. I hope Ty Boyle is ready because I think there line is going to want to welcome UND's line to the big time. UND better have 8 in the box for the 1st play by TT. But who knows TT may go deep on there 1st play. Should be fun I'm leaving early Thursday morning. Quote
Shawn-O Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 It wouldn't surprise me a bit to see Leach call something deep first play and test the secondary, maybe exploit the speed or lack thereof. Quote
The Sicatoka Posted September 2, 2009 Posted September 2, 2009 I'll do you one better. I'll give your the first two plays for UND: For UND, it'll be something over left guard. That'll leave about 2nd and 7. <insert some sort of WR screen to the right here> 3rd down. Texas Tech expects UND to be afraid of the quick early long-bomb strike. TT's first play: Red Baron on a delay up the middle. Quote

RaiderMan Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 Sicatoka is probably close on the Tech play. I doubt it will be a bomb. I bet Tech's first play is a screen to Batch. This link is to a Batch highlight clip made after his RS-Fr year. You'll see Batch run this screen play about 12 times. Baron Batch Highlights If you don't want to watch the whole clip, the screen is first run at about 1:40. Quote

Get the first snap and the first contact and the first play done in a "bland" manner to get rid of the anticipation, and then get serious. PS - Look at UND's 1st down play selection over recent years. I didn't pick "over LG" at random. Quote
RaiderMan Posted September 3, 2009 Posted September 3, 2009 If you have a subscription to Rivals.com, there's a pretty good interview of Fighting Sioux assistant coach Rod Carey on the Texas Tech site discussing UND's progress transitioning from DII to DI football. Tech Rivals There is also a "picks" page in the subscription area where some Rivals "expert" gives his score predictions for all DI games this week. He predicts a very lopsided score as you can imagine. Quote
