  1. SiouxMeNo, you're killing me. I'm definitely LMAO. I must be tired and a little buzzed. Until tomorrow.
  2. LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Initially, I was going to ask if it was alliteration but then thought better of it. Stupid me.
  3. Can anyone tell me the significance of "Roll the Raiders"? Is it just somethnig ya'll started saying for the Tech game or is it a standard UND yell, like "Roll the Bison" or "Roll the Gophers"? I've never heared the phrase and I'm curious about it. Thanks.
  4. Rivals posted a free article on RedRaiderSports.com about player matchups for the game tomorrow. Matchups set the stage for Saturday Enjoy guys.
  5. Idaho has one of the top 10 coolest college nicknames: Vandals. It's too bad there is no interest in making their team better. On a side note, the Vandals are a pretty good band too. For those of you traveling to Lubbock, be safe. When the land becomes flat for as far as you can see, you'll know you're getting close.
  6. Hell yeah! Make it a football/hockey two-fur-one! I'd seriously enjoy that. One of my best friends moved to Montana, which I think is around North Dakota somepleace. He's a 'Horn but I bet he'd meet me to watch both games. By the way, I appreciate Sioux27's optimism. Also, a Tech poster started a Thank-a-Sioux project thread at: RaiderPower Football Forum If you are going to the game it should make you feel welcome. If you do run into any rude fans, remember that this will be the freshman class' first ever Texas Tech game so they may be a little extra enthusiastic. There's a fine line between rowdy and rude, and it takes a little experience to know the difference.
  7. This matchup marred by very bad timing for a UND team breaking in so many new players. I fear your defense will be worn out by halftime. Your QB is very promising but your OL will be hard pressed to give him time to throw the ball. Hopefully, things will even out a little when Tech's 2nd and 3rd teamers enter the game. I hope ya'll manage to score a TD or more so I'll say... Tech 66 UND 13 Now would be a good time to strike an agreement to play again in about 5 years to measure your team's progress. Personally, I'd love a home-and-home series.
  8. If you have a subscription to Rivals.com, there's a pretty good interview of Fighting Sioux assistant coach Rod Carey on the Texas Tech site discussing UND's progress transitioning from DII to DI football. Tech Rivals There is also a "picks" page in the subscription area where some Rivals "expert" gives his score predictions for all DI games this week. He predicts a very lopsided score as you can imagine.
  9. Leach's new parking spot at Jones Stadium.
  10. It just occured to me to ask. What's the significance of "ROLL THE RAIDERS"?
  11. Sicatoka is probably close on the Tech play. I doubt it will be a bomb. I bet Tech's first play is a screen to Batch. This link is to a Batch highlight clip made after his RS-Fr year. You'll see Batch run this screen play about 12 times. Baron Batch Highlights If you don't want to watch the whole clip, the screen is first run at about 1:40.
  12. Awesome video. The bit about owning the farm instead of working on it was great.
  13. I remember reading and old National Lampoon "article" about how Rick Astley was suing himself for copyright infringement because his second hit song was so similar to his first hit song. Damn funny.
  14. Pretty cool article in today's Wall Street Journal. "...football after dark in West Texas is mythic stuff." LINK: Great Gridiron Getaways
  15. I always root for UND when I manage to catch a game on television. Years ago I researched UND for some reason I cannot remember now. I learned UND was a relatively small school and mistakenly believed ya'll didn't play football, so I was glad to find out that UND was so successful at hockey. I also liked the nickname and logos. So I've been an occasional fan of UND ever since. Put it this way, if UND makes the Frozen Four, that is the team I root for. I don't follow college hockey closely all year though. Partly because coverage is scant in Texas. Also, between Tech football, the Stars, and Cowboys, my "fan plate" is pretty full. As a rule, betting on Tech games always costs me money so I don't do it.
  16. Yikes. I don't even know the proper expletive for that situation. "Holy crap" doesn't cut it for sure. Man, this is going to be a real baptism by fire for your team. Hopefully, it will make every other game seem easy by comparison.
  17. The Lubbock Cotton Kings (and The South) shall rise again!
  18. Go back and look at my other posts about the Texas Tech hockey team and you will see that I am fully aware of the difference between our club team and UND's team. My posts about Tech playing UND were meant to be mildly humerous. I also didn't post the hockey fight between Tech and Texas as our program's strength by accident. Hell, I even stated "[Tech's] place in college football is not equal to [uND's] place in college hockey, ..." So untwist your knickers. Due respect has been given. I should probably mention that I'm the only native Texan who has maintained a subscription to The Hockey News for 10 straight years. I try to follow the progress of Stars prospects so I have a general understanding of the various junior and college leagues. Also, Texas has more professional hockey teams than any other state or Canadian province. So I think that makes me a hockey expert by default. Go Houston Aeros!
  19. Actually that's the stockyards just northeast of Lubbock. When it rains and the wind blows just right you can smell them across town. I actually miss that smell.
  20. They should make the UW 3rd jersey out of real badger fur. That would be original and chic.
  21. If UND shows up and plays hard it will not be embarrassed, no matter the score. Embarrassing is what Tech did to Nebraska in Lubbock in 1994. Gave them the worst ass-kicking in 114 years of NU football by a score of 70-10. We saw it at the official NU game watching party in Dallas. That was so great.
  22. Texas Tech will be a top 20 team by the end of the year unless we lose a few more defensive ends to injury. Tech's offense will be better than last year because of an improved running game and NFL caliber QB. Taylor Potts will be the best QB in Tech history. He's a man amongst boys with a cannon arm. Our defense will be young so probably a little worse than last year. Tech will be a favorite to win the Big 12 championship in 2010 but we will be very good this year too.
  23. A few times last season Turco would string a few brilliant games together and then crap himself for weeks. It was excruciating to watch. This is his final contract year and he's 34 so he better play lights out this season. This is also Modano's final season so I hope Turco helps him make one more run at a cup.
