sagard
Along the same lines as before, remember that tied for sixth 2002 season? They were so much better in 2003 on offense, but goaltending and defense didn't improve enough, .... right? UND's Conference Play Year GF GA 2002 103 100 2003 103 82 I must have missed it. Tell me again: What didn't improve from 2002 to 2003? Many thanks to the guy that pointed that one out to me. Just to expand this a little. Here are the league champion differentials since the 28 game schedule started: 1997-98 North Dakota 127-80 +47 1998-99 North Dakota 142-76 !! +66 1999-00 Wisconsin 112-70 +32 2000-01 North Dakota 115-80 +35 2001-02 Denver 108-63 +45 2002-03 Colorado Co 125-70 +55 Last year UND was a +21, to compete for league honors they will probably need to improve at least another +15. Improved goalie play would help, but Brandt's stats weren't that bad. The departing players (assuming nobody esle leaves) had around 50 points. The Freshmen can be counted on for some, but the real growth will need to be with the returning players. I think the offense will need to improve more than the defense. I'm guessing we will see a surprise winner in the WCHA next year with the Gophers second. DU, UMD, or UND. Gophs hopefully get the three-peat. The Sicatoka
As I read those stats, you better not give up more than 80 and you'd better score at least 110, and your differential had better be better than 30. Using that model, UND is very close on defense and offense, but both need to step it up a level.
MinnesotaNorthStar
Just a note on the 1999-2000 Wisconsin, that would be a +42 But, I agree that we need to be at least a +35 or 40 to win the WCHA. I would like to see that +66 like in 1998-99!!!
