As far as UND choosing to choose the Internet as the only way to vote:
According to the PEW Research center 41% of those age 65 or old do not use the internet at all, 53% do not have broadband access at home, and 23% do not use cell phones.
Seem like someone inside should have thought about an equitable voting system - and no expecting everyone to have Internet access should not be assumed.
And that's not the only reason why online voting is a joke.
-
...but our time for being in charge is in the past.
Best phrase posted here today.

Does your parents marriage of 50 years represent greater value than your marriage of 1 year?
A one year marriage holds considerably more value when applied to the future.
-
I don't understand where all these votes are coming from?
The very idea of an online election is a godsend to any potential election manipulators. Is there anyone left out there who completely trusts those in charge?

So 22-40 years old's don't have many years ahead of them to donate?
Well however many years they have it is less than that of the student age group.
-
If it was the students, good for them! They are the most important stakeholders in this anyway...
Absolutely right. If we are talking about the future, there is no denying this. Students of today are the stakeholders of tomorrow, and they have more years ahead of them to donate than you or I do. It is very simple math.

This is an exercise in manufactured outcome with an orchestrated democratic process as its artificial justification.
Bravo!
-
Those who don't participate in the process thereby give up their right to complain about the results of the process.
To me the results are incidental. The complaining is directed instead at the process.

NDSU had three of their top players sitting out. Including their top player, Holly Johnson, who outplayed Evers in last years UND game. When she is able to play they will improve greatly. Like if UND were to lose Mia Lloyd.
Evers in that game had 15 points, 13 rebounds and a career high 7 blocks. To my memory easily one of her finest performances.

Cause it'd
probablyget a bunch of boos. -
to remember them forever...
As if they no longer exist.
Beware the ennobler.

I think people are just tired of this process.
Yeah, we can't wait to move on to the next long drawn out process.

No, we failed to meet the NCAA's arbitrary guidelines which is completely different.
Are you suggesting that we do have their support?
-
We failed to get one tribes support. Overwhelmingly got anothers. You seem to conveniently omit that fact.
Gaining the support of one out of two tribes equals failure, hence our current nickname predicament.
-
I know that in my world, if all of those "sioux" references didn't exist, I wouldn't know a damn thing about what a "sioux" was.
You say eliminating NA nicknames pushes NA culture off the map, but you are only speaking of your own personal map.
Besides, does it seem to you like the tribes are interested in such publicity? (Hint: We failed to get their support to keep "honoring" them.)

I guess if people want to forget about the Native American culture all together, they are going in the right direction.
Removal of Native American mascots isn't really about wanting to forget about Native Americans. It's much more about wanting to forget about our own racism towards Native Americans.

I don't get how people can be so attached to an old logo that they are already questioning their acceptance of the new one, and it hasn't even been designed yet.
If it's UND's logo, I am wearing it.
For the record, I have very little attachment to the Sioux imagery, in fact as of this moment I own none.
-
Just don't get how people could agree to buy newly designed merch sight unseen. You all saw that Biscuits logo, right?
-
Oh, and throw in those who just do not want to be RR, FH or NoDaks.
-
.....and I am in the large majority on this.
I don't know who will buy what but it is easy to believe this part ^. If we lump together those who wish to be Sioux and those who wish to stay North Dakota , that does seem like it would easily be a majority group.
-
...or be really stubborn and yell "Go Sioux".
If "really stubborn" is at one end of the spectrum, "overly compliant" is at the other.
-
I can support the University without purchasing a moronic logo/nickname...
How can I give this a +10?
-
Of course it will come down to the logos they go with.
Which is why this conversation about predicted merch sales is useless while we have no idea what they will create. Who here would prepay right now for a NoDak, RR or Hawk jersey before seeing the design?
-
why dont you vote for something instead of against something? It feels a lot more satisfying.
Sometimes nothing is better than something.
Fighting Hawks .vs Roughriders

It's just one in a long line of red flags.
