Not sure why we're drawing NDSU into this conversation, but I'll bite.

I literally give zero craps about NDSU football and I have a degree from there.

Also. It doesn't take rocket science to know NDSU fans hate UND way more than UND fans hate NDSU. So that little quote is a lie that no one should take seriously.

What does this have to do with this weekends series? --> UNO fans hate UND more than UND hates UNO. I mean, they have "UND Hate Week" for crying out loud. What even is that?

It's not about fu at all, I think we (on this board) don't care much for some of their fans and I'd rather we didn't act like them. But that is just me and this is an opinion forum, just providing food for thought. Take it for what it's worth I guess.

This series just draws my attention back to the "Which UNO fan is actually the dumbest?" on Twitter/USCHO/etc contest...

It's cute that we're really their only "rivalry" and it's a big weekend for them, but it's just another day for me...

You sound like an NDSU football fan about UND football fans. 'Every game NDSU plays is their Super Bowl'

How does home ice really affect the on the ice play anyway??

Home field in football, in the Fargo Dome is a huge deal.  The offense can barely or not even audible, can't make line checks and most importantly the competitive advantage of knowing the snap count and getting off the ball is gone for the O lineman.  UND needs to start earning home field in football, and we need the crowds to be big and loud.

I think it effects the players just the way positive encouragement or negitive feedback works in any other circumstance.

Goon, With all due respect you lose credibility by talking of Hammers hockey knowledge.

I'm not being snarky, it's just the facts.

We've all heard the guy flub the calls time and time again, the mangling of names, the misunderstanding of the plays, the slow plodding narration as if he's reading a kindergarten book to slow cats, that's not imagination, that's not being mean, that's just the truth of what we all have seen.

I'm very glad to see him move along.

Not disputing you as I am no expert, and I did not stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but by my count, we are loaded at our 3 DL spots with: Greely, Harris, Dranka, Engwall, Denny, N. Johnson, Carrothers, Cieslak, Greer, Alm, Wilson, Bennett, Schmitz.  I apologize in advance if any of these guys are no longer with the team, but I have not heard anything about them to question their participation.

I'm thinking that OL, safety and, of course, QB if available have to be our biggest needs moving forward.

I've seen mentions of Hoilday Inn Express in jest a few times on the board, is that a reference to gfhockey's GOBC? or is that where recruits stay? or opposing teams? whats the backstory, if no one minds sharing?

I think the NCHC gives us plenty of "prep for tourney time". It's easily the toughest conference in the NCAA right now.

And, as was noted above, our program has always extended a "welcome to the club" greeting to young programs by playing them. I remember playing Northern Arizona in the 1980's as well as the other programs mentioned above.

I would really like us to schedule Arizona State in a home and home contract (one series in Grand Forks, the other in Arizona) to help that program get off the ground. College hockey needs to keep the programs it has and add them whenever possible.

I agree that we see plenty of tough teams but I still think playing some tough Eastern teams is a good idea too. But I have zero problems playing up and comers, like you said getting programs off the ground is important. Side note, NAU had hockey when?

UND schedules games like this to help build college hockey. It's the same reason they started playing Bemidji, played teams like Mankato State in the early years, and even played American International in the old days. Michigan did it for UND in the late 1940s. That's how new programs get a chance to become established.

Makes good sense and glad that we are being good citizens of college hockey, even though i'd rather see us play more eastern powers (as a barometer and prep for tourney time).

  8. Yikes, came on here to apologize for accidentally stirring the pot earlier. Per santiagos Instagram account - he cannot wait for another year in green and white for the Hawks. Yes, my bad feeling was wrong and I apologize, bad information that I will triple guess next time. Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and has a happy new year!

How will this shake-up affect UND football on Midco and radio? I have heard a couple rumors but aren't reliable enough to throw out here and was hoping someone had better confidence and could confirm.

    Textbook post.

So what about my question  "Why you think it would be fun/interesting/valuable/productive/supportive to list names of players who have chosen UND, worked hard for UND, made a commitment to UND but because of a "bad feeling" they get named on a fan site as possible flight risks thus questioning their dedication."

It seems to be the point of this thread--to talk about possible defections. It wasn't my idea, I didn't start the thread. If you see no value in this thread, as you have so eloquently expressed, feel free to mark the site as read before you decide to visit it again.

Your question only warrants the above response, but I'll bite. The value to me is getting insight from others--have they had similar worries or heard similar things? The only constructive response ive gotten is from Vince, and I thanked him promptly. If you'd like, I could question your motives on any controversial issue that may come up in the future ?

Not sure what type of reaction you expected when without any confirmation type that the starting all American running back is gone.  Hard to believe there was no intention to stir the pot.

Believe what you will, I said I had a bad feeling, nothing conclusive. If you'll remember, back in I think October I had said I heard chatter from a few friends that they were worried he would leave, and I had told them they were ridiculous and came here for confirmation. Was again looking for confirmation either way.

  12. The goal is to get those who were mentioning someone leaving that will be missed to confirm if it is true.

Ive heard small talk from a variety of people and the combination of chatter on here (page 1 and 2) with that had me thinking it could seriously be Santiago.

You guys seem to really like to poke at the snake bitten comment, so I'll elaborate. Get a really solid hire in Bubba but lose jameer and golladay, bring in dev lose him, get joe playing well, lose him, get Keaton playing well, lose him, drop some really big leads against average teams and miss out on the playoffs. I get that injuries happen to everyone and don't think we should be an exception, also that it takes time to build depth, but these are the things that make me think 'snake-bitten' is an appropriate statement, though perhaps 'we've been dogged by bad luck' would be more appropriate.

I certainly hope my guess was wrong and Vince has already confirmed that. It never was about saying I told you so, but with your reactions, it's no wonder trolls get the best of you. If he does leave, expect to hear something from me, not about me being right, but about your cannibalistic overreactions.

What I do see is that none of the OP's contradicted my conclusion.

All that being said, go find an NDSU troll to hassle, there is nothing but good intentions on my end.

Oh my apologies. Next time I'll pump the breaks on any notion I might have. If your egos about this team are so fragile that you can't have a conversation about all possibilities then maybe take a break. Didn't mean to stir the pot I just had a bad feeling.

Well one of your UND beat writers tweeted out when there weren't enough bowl eligible teams that a team in Grand Forks would take on anybody in the FBS. Kind of sounds like Mr. Nelson thinks UND was as good as anybody in the country.

He meant that we would gladly play anyone, that all we wanted was an extended season.
