I waited in line at 3 or 4 am in the cold and was fifth to last to get tickets.
Probably have to be even earlier next year.
Yikes. Good information to have though. Thanks.

This would be great for UND and all sports not just hockey image if Minnesota football came to the Alrus Center for a game or basketball team. I have been to all road games too and all home except for a couple and since we stopped playing Big ten teams there has been something missing can not put my finger on it but something. The best road series was WMU because they have fans.
I think we table the 'all-sports invite' to the B1G. That's not a conversation in any circles.

I've been told that Yost won't expand or be replaced because it's the right size for the amount of people attend games there. Yost still has a good atmosphere for its size and looks like attendance has been stable there compaired to Minnesota and Wisconsin.
I think it was jody hodgson on the Sit down and Cheer podcast who said it (about the Betty) but:
An arena is like building a church, you don't build it for Christmas and Easter, you build it for weekly attendance (or something like that), which implies that if they could find more than 5000+ fans who were even interested in going, they might build a bigger arena (indicator of importance).
And its fine if Michigan has decent attendance. I'd rather UND focus its efforts on sustaining the rivalries who have stuck by our side (Denver, UMD, SCSU, CC...Mankato?) and develop newer ones (Miami), with schools that prioritize hockey (NCHC).
-
related but not having to do with recruits -- someone on the insider chat mentioned specifically that we went head-to-head with I assume one of Schmidt's old teammates (schleusner with sdsu now). Schmidt mentioned that schleusner only broke one tackle while at UND -- what was he getting at?
-
Any recruit that picks the B1G over any NCHC school is bonkers (in light of recent events -- the past 2-3 years). The Ralph is full no matter who is here (UAH) while it looks like traditional powers Michigan and Wisconsin can't even fill their conference tournament seats. If attendance is indicative of support, they are in long-term trouble.

Someone said PWOs don't always sign on signing day because of paperwork, would like to reiterate that may be the case with Marler and whoever else is missing today?

A very popular devil know around the world while we've been hanging out in D2, spending our time with schools called St Cloud State and just switched our nickname to the same thing as thousands of junior highs around the country!
The nickname is on us -- administration poorly managed the situation and we let the Hawks name be chosen. SCSU deserves nothing but our respect. I would rather be the face of the hockey world than the face of the biggest farce in all of sports (B1G hockey).

This is absurd. Look at attendance numbers in the NCHC, and out-of-conference records. I understand that SCSU is as strong as its ever been, and we are in the middle of a 14-year unprecedented level of success (think consistency), but the NCHC is loaded top-to-bottom. Look at teams like Miami, CC, Denver, Duluth who, if not for NCHC conference play, are probably sitting well above .500. These are good teams.
I value the Minnesota and Wisconsin rivalries, but lets remember who turned their back on who. There will be salty Sioux fans for a long time over Minnesota and the NCAA's treatment of UND during pre-transition and transition years. NCHC is 10x the conference that the B1G hockey conference is.
If anything, I would have the NCHC admit some bottom dwellers, which has been stated by others previously, in order to protect the integrity of the teams already here. I don't think we should switch conferences just to play Minnesota and Wisconsin, I'd rather we wipe the floor with them in the post season.

What does any of that have to do with me being at a loss for words? The idea of NDSU in the Big 12 is pretty outlandish as well.
The assumption is that you are a closet NDSU fan.

If the Big Ten offers, the new President would jump at a chance. The Big Ten offers the CIC, which I imagine we'd get at least affiliate status. In addition, the Big Ten offering just a small part of the BTN revenue would be huge. Not great for fans, but the President and Chancellor would probably demand that we jump. Not saying it would happen, but the opportunity would be too good for UND. It's kind of what Ralph dreamed.
If enough teams start a PAC12 league or west coast league (Ariz St, UNLV, Denver, Coll College, and two there PAC12 teams), we'd go there if given a chance, probably with Omaha.
yeah, the 6 times in the B1G probably were enticed by profits as well -- where did that get them?
I would jump at the chance of us getting to play sconnie or the goofs every year or every other year as an out of conference rivalry, but the NCHC is one of the best conferences out there. I'd like Mankato to be in it, and maybe a bottom feeder (someone somewhere on this site mentioned that without bottom feeders, one of the weaker traditional programs might because a bottom feeder -- we don't want that), but thats it.

Best atmosphere I've experienced.
The same goes for me. Nervous I won't get tickets next year as a non-student. Great time.

Hey, on the bright side -- who is the latest native ND QB playing D1 football? How is he doing?
right now our depth chart looks something like this:1. studs
2. Rugby Rifle
3. Bartels
4ish. Bolinske*
*if he signs and plays qb
anecdotal at best, but our depth chart is littered with potential Carsons

To be fair to the kid, he never publicly announced a commitment to SDSU. It all came from a tweet from his school, which may have misinterpreted a conversation with him.

Hey SS.com users, does anyone know of any players/former players that were active in the Newman center on campus? Thanks for any and all help!

and let me clarify, he doesn't have anything to prove to me either, I liked him at qb too back in the day (it was back in the day for me).

I think he would be. Time will tell. Other former players that have been coordinaters here I haven't had such a good feeling about. He seems like a pretty smooth character that could handle a OC job.
He absolutely bleeds green and white. I'm becoming a big fan of his.

per Brad Schloss and some Minnesota freelance writer, a total of 4 games of suspension were handed out to Wisco players for hits on Tommy Novak. Is Novak an instigator or does wisco hate the goofs more than us?

3x3 OT is an abomination. The only thing worse is the shootout...IMHO
as soon as Schmaltz and Caggiula are back I think we will be singing a different tune.

I'm scared about this weekend. The only game Caggiula has missed this year was the Friday Wisconsin game and that game was not pretty. The only games missed by Schmaltz was Huntsville series and that Friday night game wasn't very pretty either. CC has been playing well and probably is better than Wisconsin (maybe equal with Wisconsin) or Huntsville. This is a huge series as far positioning for Penrose and postseason play. CC is really the only team remaining on our schedule that could hurt our standing in the Pairwise badly.
Hoping that the boys are aware that they've played poorly in the past without their superstars, and that they're ready to go. Otherwise, yeah, it could be a tough night. But I think they'll be ready to go.
