  1. So why would you turf the infield of Kraft field to then cut UND baseball? A big reason why is to have it available in the spring for high school and UND. Dickinson did it for the high school and DSU. Bismarck because of it being at Shiloh and having it private but they are also making a lot of money off of teams coming in. Obviously you don't like baseball. My opinion is to put a winning team on the field. Yours is to cut it. Thank goodness we live in America with freedom of speech.
  2. It would generate interest if the team wins. Believe it or not, when a team is successful people hop on board. Look at all the bandwagon NDSU football fans. Not saying I want bandwagon fans, but winning helps. For heavens sake, I can't even walk into Scheel's without having to look at bison crap. I don't care that the headquarters is in Fargo or not. If the rivalry is going to pick back up then that needs to come to an end. You don't go to Chapel Hill and find Duke stuff when you walk into a sporting good store. So what you drop baseball and pick up lacrosse? I find it hard to believe that Lacrosse is going to be a saving grace. I'm also pretty positive one reason why they haven't been as successful is because I'm sure they don't get a whole lot of money.
  3. I would be referring not to the last two years in which they were 1 game from .500 but in 2012 when they were 40-20 if I remember right. What i'm getting at is that you could put out a winning team on the field with the right recruits. You pump money into Kraft field and now you just wanna get rid of baseball it doesn't make any sense. If you wanted to cut the baseball team why pump the money in for High School baseball.
  4. I would say they should turf the rest of the outfield and then you could rival Bismarck in having more teams come in and play and not have to cancel as many games. Your not as centrally located as Bismarck and only have one college in town but you could possibly get some Minnesota teams to come in and definitely could have a high school tournament in the spring to generate some money. The problem with dropping baseball is look how NDSU has faired in baseball and there is no reason why UND couldn't have a successful baseball team. In looking at kids that play in the north for baseball, they have to be more driven especially because you don't enjoy the luxury of being able to be outside all the time like you do in the south. Yes the kids down there see a lot of more live reps, but kids up here have to focus on fundamentals in the gym and having a great work ethic. If we got a coach in here that could turn the program around we would not be having this conversation. They should have turfed the whole field and looked at how many teams would come in especially in this period when there is no dome in the cities currently that held a lot of Upper Midwest baseball.
  5. Oh okay haha my bad. I don't get to see a lot of games so I try to keep up here. I also don't know a whole lot about Jones so I try to read from you guys to know. I was at the game on Saturday hope to make it to a few more since I live a few hours away.
  6. I was just reading what previous people had said. Unless there is no truth to that.
  7. Why would you as a coach distance yourself from kids and not want to get to know them and care about them more than just what they do on the court. If I have a coach who gets to know me and shows interest in my life and not just what I possess as a ball player than I am that much more inclined to go through a brick wall for that coach. After all, a lot of the kids aren't going to the NBA anytime soon and they will be in the real world soon and you need to teach life skills and show that there is more than just what goes on during the game. You want to build a program where your alumni donate money and come back to see games and really care about Grand Forks and UND. Not getting to know your players I think really only hurts a coach. Every kid is different and they don't need to like you, but they should sure respect and know that you care. I also noticed from what I've seen that Jones in recent years hasn't had posts that are some go to players. A lot of his recruiting seems to be guard oriented and every shooter is gonna have off nights and that is when they need to be able to feed the posts and take some pressure off the guards. Especially with a team like Northern Colorado a post presence would have eaten them up since they didn't have much for size or depth at that position.
  8. The best part of this is that his brother zach was a better athlete than him and probably even a better qb had he pursued it. But on that note, get off this site and stop trying to troll people. Worry about Moo U and how we are going to beat you in bball this weekend for the sweep in Fargo.
