It seems more like you continue to deflect (or muddy the waters) by bringing other schools into it. The rest of us are discussing why NDSU athletics suddenly needs an extra $1.5million from their students (over doubling what they are already contributing) just 2 years into a 5 year agreement with little information provided to the students on why the money is needed. Not to mention it is happening just a few months after they added $700K to their expenses by announcing FCOA. That has absolutely nothing to do with any other schools yet you keep bringing them into it. Any mention of a different school and what they do has zero to do with what NDSU is doing.
Travel, equipment, and supplies. What more explanation is needed? Who are we to ask for verification that those fees have doubled?
***Pure speculation***
If they move some money from one column into another to fund FCOA, then show this new money going to said cost, will the Bison faithful say all is well?
Do I need to have the smiley face emoticon?

So let me get this straight when we lose it's because of Jones, when we win it's despite Jones - got it. (For the record I'm fine with going in a different direction when the contract is up - just want it to be orderly and well-planned so we don't lose any players).
Well, coaches do lose games, and players win them. (But according to Jones, this team was a disgrace when it played UNI.) And good coaches put their team into position to win close games. Not trying to start argument. Stating that most coaches take blame for their losses and let their players take credit for the win. This team is getting much better in all aspects. And some of that is due to the coach making adjustments where necessary (how long do we wait on Shanks experiment? I want him to play, but I think Avants has earned that starting spot). Some of the teams improvement is just plain old basketball IQ and ability, which this team has an abundance of.
-
I say it's more likely that the team is winning despite Jones. He has recruited some good talent from winning programs. And just some good athletes/basketball players. If he were a good coach, I don't think you'd see same issues constantly after timeouts or down the stretch in close games. Those are moments the coach gets paid for. These last two wins were nice, but our guys are just better than the competition and should have beaten them soundly. And did! Onto the next one.

Another nice road win, gotta keep those coming. Things are actually looking up for this team. Keep the streak alive.
Don't be so positive Darell. You might be labelled a Jones supporter

Well if there ever was an ugly blowout, that was it. Got spoiled with the last telecast, then got these low level announcers. Nice to see them win a game easily that they should. These guys just need to keep working and getting better. Shanks needs to move his feet and look up for the double team, he needs a ton of work. But, he is only a sophomore, so we can hope. Our guards are and will be a handful come tourney time.

I'm on the fence, he seems to do "just enough." That said I'll see how the season plays out, although I think there is plenty of coaches who could do better....If UND doesn't blow it and hire that guy from Moorhead . Regardless I'm always cheering for UND to win.
Off topic, is UND basketball offering FCOA? That could really be a gamechanger! Need to be a leader, it could really seperate UND from the pack and give an advantage for years to come (like the other Dakota schools entering D1 years before USD and UND).
My understanding is that, yes, basketball is getting FCOA next year

Same thing could be said for the Angry Birds.
I love this moniker!
It's nice to get back on track and see them defeat a team the way they did, and should have. Would be nice to have seen Collins get some more time down the stretch to get hiim used to the game. Even let Carson play after his 4th foul, let him foul out if need be, I don't think protecting him is helping him. Sometimes letting a kid play with that 4th foul makes them play smarter and better defense. (I am not knocking Jones, there is another time for that) Nice well-rounded game by all. Keep it up Saturday. Finally, the announcers were great!

This part of the schedule comes at a good time. They players have been working their butts off, and learning to play with each other, Onto an easier stretch. Three games to end January with a +3 win streak. Add Idaho State to the victim list come February. Then exact revenge at The Betty on Weber State. Let's get on a roll and fill the stands and get it loud for Weber State.

In collegiate athletics, the head coach is also responsible for the players who are expected to execute; that is, he's recruited each and every one of them.
I'm sorry, but this all falls on Jones, either directly or indirectly. Barring a miracle, he needs to be let go when the season concludes.
I believe he's got good player's overall. How he uses them (or doesn't), and his play calling (or lack thereof) in closing minutes makes me scratch my head. I honestly cringe in the final minutes of close games.

Bingo! This fire now talk is just ridiculous.
Who is saying fire now? Nothing to gain by that. This team isn't the gophers. Couldn't help myself

I think wre getting there --- dribble by dribble or is it bucket by bucket. I don't know. We're head and shoulders above last year and set up nicely for at least the next couple years.

What if? Have a lame duck year in Jones contract? Hope things continue the upward trend? Have we seen enough failure yet? What about finding a young guy that has shown he can coach and win and maybe step out of mediocrity and help this basketball program grow? Sorry if is the wrong thread, but after the UNI post-game, he lost me.

I don't care about the perception that the Griz carry. Don't leave it in the refs hands. UND had a 6pt lead with less than four to go. That needs to be a win

When can the local reporters actually do some reporting like this. Show how bad Jone is, in many aspects

This is what is so frustrating! The game plan and decisions to get the team in position to get the win. Then the failure down the stretch, with a 6pt lead, to not be able to put it away, with bad decisions and play calls. Watching a close game terrifies me.

He will say something like "He gave the defenseman a little bit of the old 'How's she going' and went right by him". It is sometimes accompanied by a chuckle or laugh. It usually means the player made the defenseman look silly or foolish.

Very fun game to watch last night. Crandall's play to Avants for the open layup was worthy of a "how she going" from TH.
For those of us not in the know, like me, can you explain the reference?

NDSU has achieved two of these in a single season, whereas UND has accomplished only one.
I think it is very important for UND to aspire to accomplish all three things in a single season; it's more than possible for UND with competent leadership.
You don't ask for much.do you?

Thankfully FOX Sports Go knows how to stream!
Yeah some nice ball movement to go along with the defense that we are getting used to seeing.
Nice when the shots are falling

Finally! I hope they goto ESPN3 next season

I HATE Eversports!

Need to see a better defensive effort on the perimeter as MSU has a bunch of outside shooters. The zone might not cut it. Would like to see McDermott get some more looks from the 3-point line while looking for Baldwin to continue from his previous nice game.

It's all in good fun...i've only been following UND for a couple of years, so I have never actually cheered for the "Sioux". Although i don't agree with the reasons and the thought behind having to change the name, I am not nearly as invested in the "Fighting Sioux" brand as the majority of you all.
I'm just hoping the end result isn't some silly cartoon looking bird with a grimmacing scowl and big muscle arms.
I'm certainly not offended by sny responses here...I design corporate crap for a living and I know that you can never please everyone (especially when they don't want it in yhe first place).
i'll still wear some old Sioux gear i picked up....and will probably get something with the new logo as well.
Hope you get your company to submit for the logo process then

This young team is going to have games where they play down to their competition. And play harder against the teams they need to. I am hoping this team has it rolling come tournament time. You see stretches where they play really good, would like to see a whole game against a lesser foe. Then would like to see them put together a full game against a top opponent. I like the overall makeup of this team. Hopefully, they grow into a perennial contender in the Big Sky. Plus Telfair had a great game!

They are more guard oriented than UND, starting four. Bernstine should have a distinct advantage, presuming the starting lineups hold true. As always, I will take UND's guards over theirs, our guys play so hard on the defensive end and get rewarded offensively. Hoping the high percentage shooting continues, and looking forward to adding to the win streak.
